What wild schedule changes do you think NASCAR will make in the coming years?

NASCAR in Europe or Asia (Edit) Ok, maybe not ASIA, but definitely Europe. If Asia, I think Saudi Arabia with Jeddah or the UAE with Yas Marina (I think YM could have a BANGER NASCAR race cuz it’s very similar to COTA)

A NASCAR race in Interlagos is my dream

Reply
SkaldLouisCyphre June 14, 2023 at 11:33 pm

That would be great. It’s too bad the original layout wasn’t still an option.

Plus Mexico and Canada to I’d be fine if we had both Montreal and Canadian tire motorsports park whatever track is available in Mexico and interlagos the Brazil f1 track I’m cool with 3 to 4 international races honestly whatever gains new fans

Remember Mexico f1 track that Xfinty ACTUALLY RAN AT!(and NASCAR Mexico series races there to)

As a Brazilian, it would be a dream come true to me. Soccer is not the only sport that’s loved here, we have a diehard motorsports fan base, every week there’s lots of people watching the races and even interacting with the broadcasters on social media.

Leonardo Muller Moreira June 14, 2023 at 11:52 pm

Forgot to add that I myself was never really a fan of soccer in the first place, I tried watching some matches as a kid and even playing some soccer videogames, but I was never able to understand it at all. Also, I don’t like the fact that people cause riots after the matches.

Start in Canada as its bordering the United States. Then we can talk about races on other continents. I’d love it if they raced in Silverstone though.

Remember about Mexico(they could race at Mexico track that f1 races at

Reply
Joseph Penn June 15, 2023 at 12:54 am

@DuddleBug5 Mexico also has a track very similar to Iowa

Reply
SkaldLouisCyphre June 15, 2023 at 1:05 am

@Joseph Penn Mexico has a bunch of ovals, Autódromo Internacional Miguel E. Abed, Óvalo Aguascalientes México and Súper Óvalo Chiapas.
SOC isn’t available at the moment due to issues with ownership, but it’s probably the one you’re describing as similar to Iowa.

I think I have a solution: 1 race each at Montréal and Mexico City, and replace The Clash in LA with a “South American Special” at Interlagos (Brazil) or Termas de Rio Hondo (Argentina). That would provide so much additional support throughout America.

SkaldLouisCyphre June 15, 2023 at 12:08 am

Even better, Potrero de los Funes.

Jetstream 13 June 15, 2023 at 12:11 am

As an old nascar fan I love this idea, it would be great because i know there is an oval racing seen in Brazil and i would want them to feel like they are apart of nascar racing.

Reply
Brandon June 15, 2023 at 12:13 am

@skaldlouiscyphre2453 It’s a good track, but Rio Hondo has a ton of amenities and is a very well-kept track for Motogp. If there is another Argentinian race I’d want to see instead, it’s Buenos Aires, Circuit 15. Seeing them go through the Salotto and then Mixtos would be magical.

Reply
SkaldLouisCyphre June 15, 2023 at 12:17 am

@Brandon Ah, I’m mostly familiar with Potrero because it’s available for rFactor. It’s easily one of the most scenic tracks in the world.

I think you’ve made a solid case from the practical side of things though.

2024 is the last Clash at the Coliseum race, so why not?

Reply

If NASCAR wants to expand overseas, it would be a HUGE win to have a race in Interlagos, Brazil has a die-hard motorsports fanbase, there are lots of loyal NASCAR fans watching every week on Band Sports and even interacting with the broadcasters on social media. Guys, we Brazilians love racing too, we have the most F1 titles outside of Europe, we’re not just experts at kicking a ball.

Reply
Nick Klavdianos June 15, 2023 at 12:04 am

If I had to sum up Brazilian sports culture it would probably be ‘ Those guys like kicking a ball and slamming down the gas pedal.’

It’d be interesting to see how the Cup cars compare to the Brazilian stock cars.

I would love to see more racing down in Brazil its seem like the best choice for nascar

Reply

@Nick Klavdianos To be fair, that’s most of the world too.

Andy See June 15, 2023 at 12:26 am

I have two questions about Interlagos.

1. Would the big heavy stock cars be able to negotiate the course?
2. Would it make for exciting racing or a borefest?

I think NASCAR should do a 6 week international series where they go to the biggest and most well known tracks around the world with drivers from not only NASCAR but F1, IMSA, WEC, Supercars, Indycar, even local racing leagues to name a few.

Reply
Jacob Evenson June 15, 2023 at 6:24 am

Not every team has the money, ability, or want to do that for 6 weeks… I’d say leave Montreal as a lock on the schedule, then have a separate 1 race slot that changes each year to a different international track.

Reply
AMERICAN BADASS 14 June 15, 2023 at 7:35 am

@Jacob Evenson NASCAR should have EVERY track on rotation with the exception of Daytona, Talladega and Darlington. and every year they could alternate from the track list from the previous year and go different places the following season. the days of tracks needing 2 dates are over no one can even fill the seats for ONE race…..

Reply
Stephen Puglisi June 15, 2023 at 11:34 am

@Jacob Evenson This sounds fun! Give two off weeks around it and you can legitimately go anywhere.

Reply
American Walmarts June 15, 2023 at 12:58 pm

@Jacob Evenson yeah think of the lower budget teams like Kaulig, RWR, LiveFast, FRM, JTG & Wood Brothers

Reply
Jacob Evenson June 15, 2023 at 1:07 pm

@AMERICAN BADASS 14 my perfect schedule would have 34 points races at 32 different tracks (Daytona and Talladega are the only two that deserve 2 dates), and at most 7 different road courses on the schedule with one slot being a rotational street circuit, and another being a rotational international race (international race doesn’t necessarily have to be a road course either, I’d love to see the Calder Park Thunderdome in Australia be brought back to life).

Mexico City and Montreal should get points races, and have an exhibition at Surfers Paradise in Australia.

Reply
Nick Klavdianos June 15, 2023 at 12:06 am

Montreal would suit NASCAR very well. Interlagos would be a dream. And maybe an exhibition race at Eurospeedway Lausitz?

As someone who’s been watching NASCAR since 2014, I would LOVE for NASCAR to go international.

Reply
Ryan Masters June 15, 2023 at 12:38 am

First I’m very glad Canada appears to be getting a Cup date. Completely deserved. Canada loves Nascar and always shows up for many current dates here in the states. I could see Nascar going to England. Maybe Brands Hatch or Silverstone. Maybe even France? Imagine the Cup field thundering through Eau Rouge at Spa. Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia seems like a poor move. If you really wanted to go into that region of the world you would think Bahrain or Dubai would be more fitting. As far as here in the US I hope Rockingham, Nashville FG, North Wilkesboro, and Indy oval all find their way back on the regular schedule.

Reply
Stephen Puglisi June 15, 2023 at 11:35 am

I agree, when I heard middle east my thoughts immediately went to Bahrain. Saudi seems like a huge disaster for PR

I would like to see NASCAR race in Japan, Mexico, and Canada again, or probably in Australia maybe. But I would like to see them in UK, France, South Korea on streets of Seoul. Maybe some Tokyo drift and get Hawaii in just like EA Sports dreams of. Especially for streets of New York, San Francisco, Devil’s Canyon in Arizona to take off one of Phoenix’s races. Or even try doing it in Mars like on the EA Sports NASCAR PS1 games. I really wanted that!

Reply
Ace Garcia June 15, 2023 at 1:19 am

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Clash becomes a international event. I don’t see the LA Coliseum lasting forever, I doubt a Daytona return is in the cards, and with fewer drivers in the exhibition field less freight would have to be lugged halfway around the world.

I would love NASCAR racing in Motegi. Montreal and Mexico need to be on the schedule too. The truck series had good races in Canada too

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montreal) is one of the most underrated tracks in the world. More series like Nascar should race there!

If Rockingham comes back, it would be awesome. I have missed seeing NASCAR racing there and seeing that track get axed was really sad. I hope it comes back.

Montréal is a great start! Let’s not forget that Toronto builds a street course every year for Indy, and the NCTS. That would have great triple header potential. And also help legitimize the NCTS as a major secondary series.

Josh Moser June 15, 2023 at 2:42 pm

I think Bristol on dirt is a must on the schedule. It brings a unique challenge to drivers and is a great way to pay tribute to the roots of American motor racing. Its also just really exciting racing.
