NASCAR is a sport that lives with and through its own history. With it being the 75th anniversary season of the legendary organization and everyone looking back I wanted to look forwards at what amazing things may still be to come for NASCAR. From electric components in the engines for the first time ever to women winning in the top 3 divisions for the first time ever NASCAR by 2033 may have some absolutely crazy things happen by today's standards. So today we look at 5 historic NASCAR moments we may see in the next 10 years.

What major NASCAR history do you think will happen in the next 10 years?

Me joining the cup series and winning the championship
Jeff Gordon’s career road course wins record of 9 getting broken.
NASCAR had a legit woman driver… Johanna Long. I think that was it. Now it’s just these weird social media “influencers” I miss having Johanna Long in the sport! She wasn’t a beauty queen, didn’t just make EVERYTHING about her, she took below average equipment, and just exceeded expectations! She was just cool!
We could have a eight time cup champion
A female driver could win a NASCAR race.
Honestly, there’s a good chance that Kyle Busch passes Dale Sr. in the last years of his career. Maybe he makes the Top 5 on the All-Time Win List if he plays his cards right.
As long as he can avoid getting hurt by the Next Gen car
I agree with you both
With the way Kyle has performed this year, I could see him surpassing Jimmie. A few championships along the way as well.
If he stays consistent the next few years, i agree
In terms of NASCAR sanctioned wins, Kyle Busch has passed Richard Petty.
He’s won 228 NASCAR sanctioned races.
They really need to give those insane electric car regulations a couple of years to fail before moving in that direction.
I think in the next 10 years we’ll get a national series race in Europe, most likely UK. It’ll probably be the Cup series since that’s the series with the most money, i can’t imagine small time truck teams hauling personnel and trucks overseas, but the cup teams could probably afford it, and I’m sure for a couple smaller budget teams NASCAR itself could subsidize the costs of things like transportation. With the Garage 56 experiment being so successful I think a lot of people would be tripping over each other to get tickets to a NASCAR race at Silverstone or Brands Hatch
I actually think France might get first crack at the cup series if NASCAR play their cards right. UK would be cool, but based on this year’s hype, it would not surprise me if Cup end up at Paul Ricard or another track in France with the UK behind as a stadium race (though it would be cool to have TWO Rockinghams on the schedule between NC and the UK). Oh and NASCAR returns to Japan in 2035.
If Cup has a race in Europe, should it be at a road course or an oval?
Maybe not majorly historical, but I truly believe that Kyle Busch can and might pass Dale Earnhardt in wins
He presently has 63, and is almost 10 away. He’s 38 years old, and still has several good years left in him.
yeah 38 is not that old by NASCAR standards when you’ve had many legends end their careers in their late 40s
I think he will, not might
We see Cup races in Canada and Mexico, Canada is likely happening with negotiations between CGV and NASCAR making the news
Here are my thoughts on all 5 of these
1. I could see this happening. Whether it rewards more consistency, winning or something else is totally up in the air.
2. I think this will happen. Hailie Deegan is the best shot the sport has right now but she’s stuck in a series with a bunch of disrespectful goons. If she goes to Xfinity or Cup in the future, she will show success. And I think there will be a few women we don’t know about yet that will make their presence known in the next decade.
3. This is a guarantee. People won’t like it but the world is heading this way. I’m sure NASCAR will find a solution to keep the cars loud and powerful like F1 has. This is where the sport needs to go to survive long term. The points you made prove this.
4. This is definitely going to happen even with all the parity right now. Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and Joey Logano are very likely contenders IMO.
5. This has to happen for NASCAR to survive, and NASCAR has to do a lot to attach younger audiences around my age.
@SJS34she had one start in xfinity and did good, and there is a reason why gibbs took his grandson straight from arca to xfinity. Trucks won’t suit every drivers driving style, and i think deegan should get at least two years in a good xfinity car to show what she can do. But if she still performs like she does in trucks, now we will know for sure what she has to offer
@Alec Tolley VaillancourtHailie is too busy being a YouTube influencer to win or be in the top 5 in any of the 3 NASCAR series.
I believe that Busch will get a Daytona 500 and pass sr in wins
It would be a Herculean effort for Larson, Elliott or Logano to hit 60 wins in 10 years. It’s easy to say just win 3 or 4 races EVERY YEAR, but according to racing reference Logano is currently at about a 6% winning percentage or 2/year; Elliott averages 2.4/year and the same for Larson. Larson is great, but 10 win seasons are career gems that rarely happen. Not to mention the competition is even closer together in the next gen era. Maybe in 15 years for these guys if they stay supermen until the very end. It’s not impossible though. 10 years ago Harvick had 23 wins and Busch 28.
I am an older gen z, I saw nascar from the early 2000’s up until mid way through the chase Era. I stopped watching because it was highly forced drama. I think the final 4 should be expanded to 8 and have those 8 drivers compete over the final 4 tracks. Make the championship battle be its own mini season. I think that would entice more gen z, along with more night races, 2 stages or no stages vs the 3 we have now, and I hate saying it, shortening some of the race lengths a tad more, or better yet shorten commercials.
I like the final 4, but it definitely needs to be more than just one race to decide it all
This video also has me thinking about 5 historic moments that we could see in motorsports in general the next decade. The first one is Max Verstappen breaking Michael Schumacher & Lewis Hamilton’s 7 World titles in F1. The next one is the Indy 500 being added back onto the F1 schedule (with World title points on the line) & we see F1 drivers compete alongside Indycar drivers & possibly a few NASCAR drivers in that event. The Monaco GP would likely be moved back 2 weeks to accommodate this. Third is the IROC series being revived & this time only the champions from NASCAR, Indycar, F1, Formula E, IMSA, Supercars, WEC & the WRC compete to prevent one series from dominating. Fourth is the first ever NASCAR/F1 doubleheader on the Las Vegas Strip. Lastly Roger Penske buys the commercial rights to F1 from Liberty Media & is in control of the two biggest open wheel series on the planet but they remain their own unique series very similar to how WWE & UFC are currently owned by the same company but are their own unique product.
What a time to be alive
With Daytona, Talladega & Atlanta it is very possible Hailie Deegan, Toni Breidinger or one of the other girls currently racing in Trucks & ARCA could win one of those superspeedway races at some point
I can definitely see Denny Hamlin join the 50 win club pretty soon
1. If they need to have the playoffs, go back to pre-2014 where drivers have to be consistent to qualify for the championship and tweak the bonus points like what we have currently. Unless if exec change happens, then full season points like what S1ap proposed.
I think the original format was by far the best of the playoff formats
I could almost see an F1 type points format. Points to 25th, with less of a points spread to keep everything tight. “Points Racing” might be more difficult then.
There could be some overseas races in the NASCAR cup series.
My favorite change I’ve seen (other than safety) is getting rid of the lapped cars not restarting on the inside lane.
My favorite change in safety has got to be the S.A.F.E.R. Barriers.
Larson IS the best out there!
I subscribed. TY, sir.
Larson is not the best out there, bud you are clearly very biased
@Ember Virginia You don’t know me!
I would like to see the most laps lead come back into the formula. 1 point for that each race then who lead the most laps throughout the season gets some playoff points and also gets added through each round. It’ll give incentives to running up front and leading laps as well
I’ll never understand why they got rid of the bonus for leading the most laps.
Most teams would rather be leading laps irregardless of bonus points or not.
Exactly. So why not incentivize teams for doing so?
@kennethbrunette9056 They aren’t leading for the lack of trying. Every team wants to lead every lap of every race if they could. Adding a bonus point for most laps lead wouldn’t change anything.
@Kenneth Brunette I agree that points should be awarded for leading the most laps in a race.
But you are making it sound as if teams are just riding around and not leading laps because they are no points involved in doing so. When that is not the case.
I agree with the female one. Look out for Katie Hettinger! She’s the real deal
Personally I think the only driver who has a shot to get to 60 in the next 10 years outside of Denny is Logano. No way in hell Elliott does it. He’s the 3rd best driver on his own team. Larson has the talent I just think it’s a stretch to say he wins 4 a year. He’s been great at HMS but 2021 is doing a majority of the heavy lifting and while he’s been great he has not shown that dominance in the next gen. I could see him doing it but I don’t think it’s as likely as Logano. I also think KFB could get to 76 potentially even 80+
Larson can easily average 4 wins a year for the next 10 years I think thats even underestimating him as well. If things went his way I think he could easily have over 5 wins already, he’s clearly the most talented driver right now and has the Hendrick equipment and funding.
Would love to see a new points system to reward season long consistency.
Also streaming is the future. Jump on early rather than late.
Fox says they need NASCAR for content, but push more races every year to FS1.
Streaming will be the future for most sports other than the NFL and NBA
They do have that, regular season champion gets 15 playoff points.
Ryan Newman made the Championship 4 without a race victory one season. Consistency nearly won him the top prize.
