Rockingham UK is a trioval, Indy raced there a couple times. Would be cool to get an oval race and a road race over there.
I love Spa but it is a very long course; we’d need to get local yellows figured out first…

Nurburgring ?
There is an oval (Pocono shaped) track in Brandenburg, Germany called Lausitzring at just over 2 miles. There is (maybe “was”) another in Northamptonshire, England called “Rockingham Speedway”, that is just under 1.5 miles. I’d watch those.
Rockingham would have been perfect, but it shut in 2018 🙁
Most people nowadays only remember Lausitzring for the 9/11 thing that was compounded by the Zanardi thing, which was never the track’s fault, but still.
@James Ruddock I believe the track is still intact and used by Constellation Automotive / Cinch for car storage, I’m sure if somebody wrote Constellation Automotive a big enough cheque things could happen
If we go over to Europe I feel like we should do an experimental off-season race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The Red Bull Ring has long straightaways which lead into heavy breaking zones. It has somewhat of a technical portion, it is only 10 turns.
I have always like the simple design of the Redbull Ring. It flows really well. It’s a solid track. I’d prefer any new races added to be ovals – but I’m ok with a road course replacing a road course.

@Jon Newton As much as I’d love it, I don’t think you could convince drivers and teams to commit to racing in another country during their offseason.
Monster won’t go for that. Germany or England might make more sense.

European NASCAR fan here, would love to see a Euro race on the schedule (Lausitzring would be my venue of choice) but the following here just isn’t big enough to commercially justify a race, even with the garage 56 hype. Anecdotally from my social circle, Indycar would see more success in Europe
Furthermore from a logistics pov, NASCAR isn’t currently set up to go transcontinental, would be a challenge for the likes of Spire and Live Fast to field a car in Europe.
That said, if NASCAR is ever going to attack the European market, particularly European F1 fans, now is time with F1 being a snoozefest.
I’ve always gotten the impression that most Europeans find NASCAR to be a joke to them and the drivers lack any “real” racing skill. True or not?

I think as far a what tracks might be suitable in Europe for NASCAR to go to I think you have to first look at the tracks on the NASCAR Whelen Euro series schedule. Brands Hatch hosts an annual American Speed Fest so that would be my vote. It’s already hosted an American series in 2003 when Indycar went there and I think the Indy layout would put on a great NASCAR race.

I personally believe NASCAR should run on an oval if they venture to Europe and the perfect place would be Lausitzring. It’s already shaped like Pocono and only a 1/2 mile shorter. I don’t wanna see NASCAR on some road course unless they’re going to Canada or Mexico. Europe should get to experience a natural oval-style race.
This 100%. Would rather watch F1, WEC or DTM cars on a road course. If NASCAR did come to Europe, I’d want it to be on an oval. Oval racing is NASCAR’s usp in the euro market. Lausitzring would be the best choice.
You are too young to remember NASCAR’s Japanese adventure. Something similar but the Nürburgring, off season, bring some big names, bring in the top local guys, easy to do with the new car being almost an IROC car, likely get some formula guys. Purely a money and exhibition race
I’d like to see nascar go to spa, if for no other reason than to watch them try to go up eau rouge side by side.

I think if they are gonna go international they shouldnt pull a race from one of the tracks with a single race. They should just let every track have 1 race a year and fill it that way
Germany’s Lausitzring (supposedly the only oval racetrack in Europe) could be an interesting call down the line. Basically a shorter Pocono, but still would be interesting to see.
They could maybe go to Rockingham in the UK it’d be difficult as the new owners I think are a online car dealer, but the quad oval would be unique to say the least.
The only problem I see with that is last I heard the oval portion was in dis repair as they never maintained the oval portions beyond what was needed for the road course there.
Now I’m in Canada so I could be completely wrong about that.
I live in the UK but NASCAR is my favourite series, so I’d jump at the chance! Not sure if it makes financial/logistical sense – IndyCar’s been discussing for years whether to reintroduce flyaway races, esp in Argentina, and still hasn’t pulled the trigger – but I’d buy tickets on impulse if you guys paid us a visit!
Monza would be incredible, especially if they ran the original layout with the large high banked oval.
I think it would be a great idea for SHR to scale back their operations and become a 3 or even 2 car team. This would allow them to put more resources into their best drivers of Briscoe and Berry.

As much as I’d like to see SHR switch to another manufacturer I’d say it’s unlikely. Dodge did push back on coming back into NASCAR but… there was also talk of a different manufacturer wanting to come into NASCAR. We will see what happens but it seems very unlikely that they switch right now.
SHR might be the best candidate to switch to a new manufacturer if one joins NASCAR

NASCAR & the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) should do an exchange program in which NASCAR does an exhibition race at Brands Hatch & the BTCC does a race in the US on a short track like Martinsville or Bristol. The two series are very similar in terms of the amount of contact they allow & lack of rules which makes it easy to do an exchange program. The same idea can also be applied to Australia’s Supercars series, even more so since the Chevy Camaro & Ford Mustang are used in both series (though Supercars follows the regulations set forth by the FIA when it comes to those two cars).
