What a hit. At least it looks like the front end gave more

One of the worst places he could have hit

Hope Ryan Blaney is ok

Dang I hope Ryan is okay. NO EXCUSE for that concrete wall not to have a safer barrier there.
Also I don’t know if kyle busch noticed everyone spreading out, but to be fair, blaney just checked up in front of him.

Blaney checked up a lot harder than all the cars in front of him

I seriously hope Ryan Blaney is going to recover fully and quickly from that impact.

What a hard hit at a relatively low speed. Damn

No excuse for them to not have a SAFER barrier there. Thank god the crush zone got improved, I’d be pretty worried if this happened last year.

Still the same system as last year. The front end changes don’t go into effect until the next Atlanta race.

That was a safer barrier he hit, as Nashville was the test track for both inside and outside safer barriers

Reply
JayDee June 26, 2023 at 2:32 am

@Troy Groomes It wasn’t a SAFER barrier dude. Look closely, it’s just one layer of wall.

@JayDee I was their in the infield, watching the race

NBC really dropped the ball for not calling out the lack of a SAFER barrier…. instead, they said NASCAR made the front more crushable, they gotta be better than that.

That was not pretty. I’m glad he’s alright. I hope he didn’t get a concussion from that.

Rule, if you ever assume “a car will never hit this spot” A car will in fact hit that spot, and hit it in the worst possible way.

Geez that was a hard hit

Reply
UpperMase June 26, 2023 at 3:31 am

Being at the track, I could see the true impact. It looks soft on video, but vicious in-person.

I agree I was also there, id like to see some of these people in the comments take a hit like that and then i MIGHT listen to what they have to say.

If your going to let off the brakes when your headed straight for the wall it seems you would mash it wide open and try and spin yourself out, you can tell drivers like Ryan and chase didn’t come from the lower ranks of racing.. glad Ryan is OK
