I’m excited to see how it goes
This will be challenging for the drivers to master this street course
The lack of runoffs is scary
that’s the definition a a street race
@Jeremiah Hardelit’s not, if you look at street courses in any other series, there are runoffs in the majority of the heavy braking zones
I’m betting everyone piles up into turn 7 and Shane Van Gisbergen is the only car left standing
All it takes is one brake failure into turn 6 and we have a serious injury
@ThiccRib it’s not going to be pretty lap 1 turn 1 I’m telling you that
Im a little excited, but also like interested to see how the racing will be. It might just be like a normal F1 race (sorta). It’ll be interesting to see what the xfinity race is like, along with practice and qualifying.
They do realize that Average 85 mph is over 2 and a half hours race. I got this by adding 3 seconds to the pole for the IRacing event pole lap they had a couple years ago so it may be slower. Starting at 4:30 the sun sets around 8:30. This only gives them a little over 1 hour of room for cautions, pace laps, etc
It’ll be fine
Driving from sunlight to shadow will be a challenge especially in turns 7 & 10
Damn, it would be GREAT if that Garage 56 Chevy Camaro was the pace car for this Chicago Street race on Sunday!!
Good idea
Shane van Gisburgen making his NASCAR debut has me excited, haven gotten in V8 Supercars and given Marcos Ambrose’s success at Watkins Glen.
2:29 there will probably be a lot of wrecks in this corner after the bridge
The pit road looks really hard to get on, the wall looks really close
It’s going to be a awesome failure for Nascar and fans
Why would you think that?
I agree it’s gonna be a three ring circus
@Doodle Popscommon sense
@Doodle PopsNASCAR races on actual tracks, not city streets
@Tom Trajnowski that’s a generalization, not a specific evaluation.
AJ has raced on street courses before, so he’s got an advantage over the other Cup guys for sure. SVG’s steet advantage comes out in the wash since he’s never driven these cars or raced in this series before.
Larson always awesome at new tracks too
So does lagono
Can’t wait to see what SVG can do in the next gen…
Speaking of sports in Chicago back in the 1950s the old DuPont network would air wrestling from Chicago and alot of those guys became over night stars because of it…..Now about this street race it is gonna be awful and i hope a teachable lesson for the series
I think it’s cool having cup cars racing on real streets.
Imo they should have just come to Toronto and done a double header with Indycar. Much more interesting course
I’m worried about that city right now.alot of crazy stuff going on Idk why Chicagoland has to be taken out.
I just don’t see where the green flag passes will happen. I know the restarts are going to be chaos with people divebombing and going 4 wide into turn 1, but after 2 or 3 laps, I just feel like that’s pretty much gonna be the running order until the next pit cycle. The racing groove is going to be very narrow, and the only place where passes are probably going to happen are turn 1, and turn 4 going into 5.
Turn 2 will be a massive collision / spin out zone for sure. Let’s expect 20 + cautions and a 4.5 hour race.
I’m almost betting for a spectacular failure but hoping for the best.
