There definitely a reason Carl has came out of his Cave. I glad he’s back even if he doesn’t drive again.
He’s bored
When they first did Bristol dirt he said he’d be interested in driving that race. everyone seems to forget that interview
lol I love how he even said no I don’t.. and now everyone thinks he does
@THE REAPER ehhh. They all say that man. Politicians say the aren’t running for president then they do. Just the way it is.
I feel like what’s being suggested by the Sports Business Journal report is the best way of getting into the streaming gig. NASCAR wants the biggest races to have the biggest audience and don’t want those big races locked behind a paywall. Also, I welcome a media company producing the broadcasts for both TV and Streaming, which is similar to what F1 is doing.
F1TV is such a nice thing to have.
Legends like Jimmie don’t deserve this pain
Uh, nobody does, regardless of if you’ve won 7 championships or are homeless…
@Vercingetorix4 Ehh, Rick Crawford deserves this pain. But anyone else absolutely does not deserve.
@GNNASCARFAN 24 Who is Rick Crawford and why do you hate him?
@New Group Freedom Trust cause he loves minors
Thoughts and prayers to all involved in this tragic time.
Sounds to me that the only thing keeping Edwards from a return in Cup is the lack of safety in the cars. He does not want a concussion and you can’t blame him.
Look at the complaints Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick had with the car. And also look at what happened to drivers like Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman and Noah Gragson.
i wonder if Carl would consider racing in the SRX. slower cars, shorter tracks, solves the safety issues. i’ve heard other rumors that the playoff system was the reason he left the sport, SRX would fix that too. NASCAR season too long? he could still compete for a championship in the SRX without taking nearly as much of his life away
would be really cool to see and i’m sure the SRX would love to have him
I’ve been saying this since day 1 of the SRX. I was at Nashville in ’21 and while Tony was signing a hat for me, I ribbed him a bit asking whey they were going to get Carl….Tony’s respsonse was “Man, we’ve been trying…..”
That would be something
Jimmie’s a strong guy, and his wife and kids are very well loved and protected by him. Condolences, JIMMAY. You’re right to withdraw this weekend. Take as much time as you need. We’ll support you and your family all the way.
Onto other matters, SAFER barriers need to be at every race track in the world, no exceptions.
I agree with the Sheldon Creed penalty. NASCAR set a precedent with the Bubba-Kyle incident half a year ago, and they have kept up that consistency in the right way this year. Creed clearly did this in retaliation, and now he needs to take the penalty for it like a man.
I’d be fine with streaming, if I wasn’t so concerned about the people who can’t afford to switch to streaming from cable because of cost. If peacock can take into consideration for those families who can only afford for basic cable plans, and make their offers affordable for all Americans, then I’ll be comfortable with the full transition to streaming eventually, but not yet.
And lastly, If Edwards returns, I think it should be on a very limited schedule to get him comfortable in a race car again. The last time I remember a veteran driver spending a lot of time away from a race car, and he wanted to get back in it really badly, was Neil Bonnett in 1993, and despite showing speed, it turned out really badly for him in the end unfortunately. Carl just needs to spend some time practicing and working on the tracks again (as well as getting some good sponsors of course), and maybe, just maybe, he’ll have one more win left in him, or maybe more.
Your saying Carl Edwards will just happen to be our next fatal wreck? Just saying, times have changed a lot.
Carl Edwards was on the MRN and PRN broadcasts during the Darlington and Nashville events and he’s a complete natural in the booth. I’d love for him to do more stuff in broadcasting because he brings so much insight even being out of the car for several years.
He used to do the Xfinitiy races from time to time if he wasn’t in them and I always thought he was good
Its really sad what happened, I do think he needs all the time he needs with his family right now. I mean its awful something like that happened when we least expect it. He made the right decision not to race this weekend. I do think it will be a while before we see him race again. But again my thoughts and my prayers are with Jimmie and his family.
I hope Cousin Carl comes back. He was my favorite driver and i haven’t had the same enjoyment of the sport since he left. Obviously he hasn’t said as much, but i really think part of him leaving was a combination of the playoff system, and stage racing. If things would’ve went a little different, he’d be a 3x Champion. I’d do anything to see him come back and win some races and give us more signature backflips
My prayers and condolences go to Jimmie and his family. #JusticeforJimmieJohnson
I feel terrible for all of Jimmie and his wife’s families, this is so hard 🙁
Same
Carl Edwards joined the radio broadcast for the Cup race, which was awesome! He said on the air that he has the itch to race again but does not plan to. He confirmed the sim work too. I really hope to hear him more with the radio team. He seemed like a great fit.
I would love to see Edwards race! I started watching NASCAR not recently so I never got to see the man himself race live so it would be really cool to see him race
