SVG has shown America how to race touring cars! He’s amongst the world elite of racers for a reason!

Anyone who has watched V8s shouldn’t be shocked. Dude is a wheelman. As an American fan of world motor sport he definitely showed them how to do it.

Nice freshman statement bud. So Moffat tought Strayan’s and Kiwi’s how to drive Bathurst? No. Gee, we’ve never heard of Marcos Ambrose. We hear he’s a good ringer.

I picked him to win after I saw practice he was definitely fast. The cup drivers was on his turf and he handled his business. If he went on theirs it would be a different story.

@michael arringtonwho knows I could see him running up front in any Nascar race, ovals included. I know what you’re saying but you don’t just enter a race like this, and get fast from practice/qualifying and then win the race. Also was top 5 for most of it, dropped to 18th from a bad timing pit stop and then still came back to win. I wouldn’t underestimate what he could do on an oval for a second. He can probably find speed anywhere. Looking forward to it. Hope he’s back full time.

First win in his first career start. It shows that if you put the right man in that 91 car, he can win and Shane won this race. I’m glad something great came out of this weekend.

Reply
Oirl Donono July 3, 2023 at 2:44 am

Alot of them would. But taking corners at 90, and 190, are 2 very different things

Steel Central July 3, 2023 at 2:49 am

he said one more year in the supercars, then he’s looking to NASCAR

Reply
James Lanning July 3, 2023 at 3:02 am

He simply managed the race. He let the 20 car get out there and run around and lead until he simply wrecked him self. He let the 45 car get out there and lead until he wrecked him self. And then he patiently past everybody he had two to win.

See people say the same thing with former f1 guys or Indy car guys and it just doesn’t translate most of the time. It’s a completely different discipline different driver to driver rules some of those races are really long I’m not saying he couldn’t do full time but don’t expect him to be winning every week.

Reply
Mr_Bliss July 3, 2023 at 4:02 am

@Devon DownsI’m an SVG fan and I’ll admit, this was the perfect race for him, oval racing is completely different and he’d probably be mid pack on average but any road course or street race he would hands down be the favourite to win

Welcome to the family Shane congratulations. First gifted driver from New Zealand after Daniel Suarez from Mexico last year, NASCAR really made history. Thanks Chicago for a first street race but shout out to Chicagoland speedway I hope they race there again one day. Need less to say.

A huge congrats to SVG, he saved his car till the end and then went into beast mode and took the win, amazing.

Te Hore Wainohu July 3, 2023 at 2:44 am

He really did. Was very patient for the most part. When it was time to put it on, he really started applying the pressure. Pure class.

Kaptain Ken July 3, 2023 at 6:59 am

With the difference in currency exchange they could probably buy out his contract and have him if they wanted.

Reply
J July 3, 2023 at 8:53 am

@Kaptain Ken pretty sure the exchange isn’t that steep at all…either way I’m sure they’re looking into making this happen.
He basically said he would after his last year in v8 supercars.

I would vote this as the most unique win in NASCAR history. First winner in Cup from New Zealand on the first ever street race for Cup, and in their debut start. If anyone had him in a bet they deserve their earnings! What a fantastic race!
