I would love another international driver coming into the sport
Wish granted
If he comes others will follow.
@Holly Golden Yeah. But there is another one joining for at least one race
You mean like Juan Pablo Montoya or literally pretty much a whole bunch of other people that have tried it! LOL seriously try to keep up the reality that is NASCAR! There’s so many different types of tracks that people that are specialists in one style in the end are literally just a splash in the pan for a second and then they tend to fade away. I mean seriously on road courses we’ve always had a ringers come in but they never last that’s just the way it is. SVG has the best chance of lasting but he has absolutely ZERO experience on ovals so he’s probably pretty well fucked!!!
@dean nelson You shouldn’t pretend to know more than you do. He runs sprint cars every V8 Supercars offseason.
I think he should get a chance in Cup. But I think he might need to start in a Xfinity car first. This is just my opinion on this.
The Xfinity car is SOOO much different than the Cup car anymore. He probably doesn’t finish top 10 in the Chicago Xfinity race. The Next Gen car is very similar to a V8 Supercar. SVG probably doesn’t run top 10 2 years ago in the Gen 6 car.
As a Bowman fan I dont see him making it unless he somehow gets a win. The 48 just hasnt had any winning speed all year and now hes running to his usual summer bad luck
If Marcus Ambrose can I think Shane van Gisbergen can.
Exactly, 100%!
Marcus Ambrose won 2 road course races in an era when road courses were not valued
In Marcos days, they ran 2 road courses, now they run 6. In Marcos days the cars were completely different than what he ever ran, the cars now are very similar to the V8 Super Cars that SVG races.
Yep
Bowman is one of those athletes who will have a month stretch where he’s on fire and then 2 months where he’s ice cold… and it happens with him every year. You see it often in other sports but it’s rare in motorsports. At this point he is who he is- which isn’t a terrible thing, I just don’t expect much from him.
I don’t think enough people are talking about McDowell to make the playoffs,Look at the next few tracks. 2 road courses and 2 super speedways. His strong suits,He’s only 10 points off the line to begin with. A few decent runs at the other tracks,And he could make it by a few points. People gotta start taking him seriously for bubble contention.
McDowell could easily get into playoffs over the next couple weeks for sure.
MCDOWELL SUPREMACY
I can see the memes already
As a bowman I’m hurt cause without that penalty we’d be 15th
We’d be +34 to the good without that penalty
@Aaron Winterfield we would have to earn stage points every race
Which ain’t good as a Hendrick car
@Champa Bay Beast cause he missed 3 races
@Keezy Baby96Did you forget he also got caught cheating?
The sooner Andretti Autosport can enter into F1 and NASCAR the better.
Andretti Autosports have shares in an Australian Supercars team
I would like to point out a possibility with SVG, he’s sponsored by Red Bull, this could be Red Bull’s opportunity to return to NASCAR, just something to throw out there
i did like the schemes redbull used. that silver really stood out during sunny conditions.
Being a Bowman fan, all I know is pain and suffering. Now we go through our annual summer slump without a points cushion.
It sucks. If we can just get some consistentcy, then we’ll be fine. Like we should of finished 11th to 15th range at Chicago but no, bad luck happened. Only if he didn’t get penalized or get injured, then we would be fine.
Bro, I’m starting to think I’m a glutton for pain. First Jr,and now Bowman.
I may be in the minority, but….I actually LIKE the Indianapolis road course. That said, I would like to see a double header weekend…Saturday on road course, and then the Brickyard 400 on Sunday.
Qualify on the road course, race on the oval!
Hot take, go to IRP instead of Indy. Both tracks I feel don’t produce the best racing for nascar, though I may also be in the minority lol
I’m with you I also like it
@TeaJaygen 7 on shorts tracks haven’t been the best!
SVG won a race that was shortened mid-race in unique circumstances. Sure, he had to move up through the pack, but if that race is able to go the full distance, I think the outcome is VERY different. The 20, 45, and 5 were setting themselves apart from the group up til that point.
I disagree. I think SVG was oretty dominant all day. He never put a wheel in the wrong place. Either way though, he certainly had a good enoigh showing to get some hype around him and this conversation about a potential return
Let’s not forget though Bowman had a 60 point penalty and missed three races.
He still hasn’t had a top 10 since Richmond
You need luck and skill to succeed. I think Elliot will make it. He has that golden horseshoe in his pocket.
Even if he doesn’t win he is still very consistent that’s for certain he is setting up to be a Matt crafton of the trucks series always racking up tons of top 10s and top 15s always finishing top 10 in points and always is a contender for good results
Shane has adapted to any kind of racing, Motorcross, sprint cars and drifting.
Could you imagine him deciding to go with a team like Spire who’s a chevy team, and he turns them around to be a top team? I doubt Ty Dillion is a long term choice for them, and they could change the number from 77 to 97. I know it’s unlikely, but I feel that would be the biggest story in NASCAR if it did.
I do like Blake Harris as a crew chief though
The cheating really hurt Bowman. Those 60 points killing him.
On the subject of Andretti in NASCAR, I wonder if he’d be willing to work with Dale Jr. to form a new cup team? Probably a bit far fetched, but I know Dale Jr. has been wanting to get back into the cup series as an owner, but it’s expensive, even for him. Someone like Andretti Autosports coming in as well could be a huge opportunity for both of them to build a super team.
