Hot take. Lajoie knows spire is selling to andretti so he wants to stay to see if they can make something big there.

Could be! It’s an interesting rumor

@Eric Estepp also makes sense that Marco just raced for them and they have gainbridge too

That might be true I think the 77 car could open . Maybe Carson will get the ride .

@Craig E Hocevar isn’t ready for full time Cup yet. Yes, he made progress at Gateway, even cracked the top 15 (before brake rotor go boom), but he should leg it out a few years in Xfinity before immediately jumping to the top level

Wonder what sponsors Josh Berry will get. And I don’t think they will go the Monster Energy direction either.

I’m expecting tire pros and Harrison’s to stay with josh berry

Busch beer should’ve sponsored Kyle Busch, perfect match

Hailstorm1986 July 11, 2023 at 4:05 pm

Not with the backlash and boycott going on. It would have brought negative attention. Anheuser-Busch will be lucky if they recover by next year because their boycott is not ending anytime soon and if a driver was smart they would not want to be affiliated with that company and inherit the negativity that comes with that..

@Hailstorm1986I just read that bud light has fallen from the 1st to 14th in sales. Not a smart business venture to say the least

Reply
Hailstorm1986 July 11, 2023 at 4:14 pm

@ken boggess Anheuser Busch is in trouble, that single brand is killing them. They’ve laid off hundred of employees already and more layoffs are coming..

Sherwin John July 11, 2023 at 4:14 pm

Annhauser-Busch was with Harvick for over a decade. They probably want someone they can partner with for a long time like an up and coming star like Ross.

Reply
Hailstorm1986 July 11, 2023 at 4:21 pm

@Sherwin John better him than Kyle and this is coming from a Kyle Busch fan because of all the current backlash in the boycotting I would rather that attention be put on Ross Chastain than Kyle Busch..

If Smithfield leaves then there will be a massive problem

Reply
Craig E July 11, 2023 at 4:37 pm

They might be a 3 car team next year . The 10 could be parked

Reply
Nathan1Sixteen July 11, 2023 at 4:49 pm

@Craig EI could see them selling that 4th charter to 23XI or Trackhouse. 2 up and coming teams that have been rumored to be interested in another charter.

Reply
Josh Roberts July 11, 2023 at 4:55 pm

@Nathan1Sixteen or I could see Dale Jr in the mix if the price is right

Reply
Craig E July 11, 2023 at 5:08 pm

@Nathan1Sixteen I did not think of that selling a charter. Does spire have two charters or rent one.

@Craig ESpire has two charters

Kinda disappointed that Anheuser Busch is leaving SHR, but I can understand why. Chastain is arguably more marketable than Berry at the moment, and Trackhouse has better potential to win championships at the moment too. Hopefully, Tony Stewart can get another sponsor to come in and replace them. Home Depot? Krispy Kreme? Maybe Stroh’s Light to replace Busch?

I’d like to see a rotation of brands for the iconic beer brewer next year. Budweiser one week, Busch Light/Apple the next, Bud Light the next, Michelob Ultra the next… something to keep the fans and the driver interested.

Good to hear about Corey. Spire’s improved a lot over this past season, at least in the 7 car. I would still like to see him get a top level ride someday though.

Jason Litz July 11, 2023 at 5:36 pm

I would say. Market Berry to Smithfield.

Reply
cadillacjohn1994 July 11, 2023 at 5:40 pm

@Jason Litz not a bad idea, if Stewart and Haas can pitch it right, that is. I can see Berry starting his own “Smithfield bacon club”.

Looking forward to see what Busch Beer can do with Ross Chastain next season. Glad they aren’t leaving the Sport!

I’m glad that they’re going to sponsor Ross but I don’t think they’ll ever leave the sport because they are one of the main sponsors of the sport

Personally, if i was SHR, i would downsize to 3 cars. So then they can hopefully improve their results. I also like Corey coming back to Spire as they’re on the verge of coming something good.

Reply
rob peterson July 11, 2023 at 4:13 pm

Yeah SHR would be much better able to concentrate there resources on three teams then four. Close the 10 or 41.

Reply
Craig E July 11, 2023 at 4:40 pm

I think they will shut down the 10 if Eric retires there will be no funding. Gene is not going to pay out of his pocket to run the 10 and 41.

Reply
Riley July 11, 2023 at 4:17 pm

Corey’s moto is Stacking Pennies, so i think he stayed because he wants to be the lead driver if Spire becomes a big team in NASCAR.

It’s intriguing that five years ago at Darlington, Harvick was dishing on Chastain saying he would not get far at all in NASCAR. Now, that same guy is getting Harvick’s longtime sponsor.

Garibuki July 11, 2023 at 4:29 pm

I noticed during the Nashville post-race in victory lane, Chastain and crew had Busch beer in hand as their celebratory beverage. I think that all but confirmed it, but still, I’m happy for Ross, Trackhouse, and Justin Marks. That team is breathing new life into Nascar every single week.

Lajoie wrapping his contract up, Front Row and Zane Smith, SHR entirely, it’s gonna be a crazy silly season for sure

Reply
Ian Fisher July 11, 2023 at 4:38 pm

If another team like Andretti came in and bought or merged with spire, it would be awesome to see LaJoie have a career like Truex. Slow start but a monster latter half.

I think if Almirola retires and Smithfield leaves, SHR might lease out that 4th charter for a year while they regroup, or perhaps sell it altogether.

Seems like there’s lots of interest in charters, and a lease might help them financially.

Cameron Dawson July 11, 2023 at 5:03 pm

The Busch/Chastain/TH partnership makes great sense for all involved, and this is coming from a big Harvick fan. Also, we need to keep in mind that despite Dale Jr’s lofty praise of Josh Berry, it was still a challenge for JRM to find him full coverage sponsorship year to year. SHR is prolly not gonna find a mega premier sponsor for him right away, but put together a big hodgepodge of mid level sponsors for the next couple of years.

Andrew Truman July 11, 2023 at 5:31 pm

The potential for Budweiser Dale Jr throwbacks is astronomically high now ! I can’t wait to see what they come up with for Darlington next year !
