Haven’t watched an Arca race yet, but if they are a bit crazy and unpredictable, I should give it a shot

This is the new era of NASCAR. If you can’t pass them wreck them. Then if the driver that you wrecked wrecks you back then you’ll start crying. Greatest example of that is Kenseth vs Logano.

Exactly.
Thompson deserved it.
You don’t wreck someone and then get pissy when you get hit with CARma.

@TheBig4Fan07do got to remember that kenseth did block him 3 times on one straightaway and then put him in the wall. Kinda deserved to get spun

@Timechanger ! He was trying to fucking win cuz he was below the cut. You would do it too lol.

@TheBig4Fan07 He ran up the track but didn’t really attempt to wreck him

@TheBig4Fan07To be fair to Dean… Sean had him sideways through the last turns before Dean sent him off the track.

I’m a huge Nascar fan from Montreal and I really hope to see cup racing at home. When F1 comes to town the buzz is amazing in the city. Everyone comes out to watch the Grand Prix and takes part in the festivities . I feel like if Nascar went north, they could do the same and really show the sport to younger Canadian fans who don’t even know what Nascar is. This is a great opportunity for Nascar, and I hope to see cup cars racing at Gilles Villeneuve soon!

Love F1 in Montreal. I think Toronto is better for NASCAR.

@Dillon Brown where ? The street race? It cant compete with Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

James Scully July 11, 2023 at 8:42 pm

The track is on Ile Notre-Dame, one of the two islands in the St Lawrence River that were the site of Expo 67, celebrating Canada’s 100th birthday in 1967, and has been hosting an F1 race since 1978. The first Canadian GP at the track was won by GIlles Villeneuve, the French Canadian superstar, which the track was named after he was killed at Zolder in 1982. It would fit the Cup series well since it is not really a street track and more like Belle Isle in the Detriot River – a race track in a park. I think its a win-win for everyone, and Montreal is a beautiful city, especially Old Montreal.

They did not go to Canada in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID, right?

Don’t know if it’s true but heard a rumor that AdventHealth is leaving Trackhouse due to Busch singing with the team and that they might go over to Spire next year. Pretty good for Spire if true, two major sponsors joining the team would be great for their cars to start running even better!

Reply
EliteMM July 11, 2023 at 9:11 pm

It’s possible, after all. I think they did sponsor Spire for a few races before they joined TrackHouse. Jamie Mac in the 77 in the Daytona 500 comes to mind.

Jumbo_Slice July 12, 2023 at 2:32 pm

Spire needs to hire better drivers if they wanna ever have a shot at winning a cup race. Doesn’t matter who their sponsors are or how much money the team brings in when the talent behind the wheel is lacking.

Andretti is building a massive new HQ just NE of Indianapolis in the coming years that is already said to house their F1/IMSA/Indy Car teams. It would be very cool to have them add NASCAR to that facility.

As a long time Canadian fan I can confirm we are very underserved… sucks that my favorite sport Is so hard for us to access there are no NASCAR things I can buy in store here there are no races within a full day drive from me even counting Montreal and with border lockdowns you couldn’t go If you wanted to till possibly now I think you can add broadcasts are extremely hard to find and we can’t get American streams so that’s not even an option for watching either… I love this sport so much and we up here seem to be forgotten about

Well, Eric, as a friend of mine and I have been discussing, it appears that the worst-kept secret in NASCAR currently is the sport possibly returning to Canada to race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve next season and I would be up for it because NASCAR has produced a lot of great moments in Canada, starting with the inaugural Xfinity race there in 2007 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve that saw the issue between Robby Gordon and Marcos Ambrose give Kevin Harvick the win, 2008 that was the first race with rain tires, 2009 where Carl Edwards won after Marcos made a mistake on the last lap, 2010 with that incredible photo finish between Max Papis and Boris Said, 2011 where Marcos finally got the win in Montreal and 2012 where Justin Allgaier got the win and let’s not forget some of the races at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, starting in 2013 with that wild finish between Chase Elliott and Ty Dillon, 2016 where it had Cole Custer and John Hunter Nemechek fight after the finish and 2018 where teammates Noah Gragson and Todd Gilliand took each other out on the last turn of the last lap, allowing Justin Haley, who was in 3rd, to win. All-in-all, in the end, I am strongly up for NASCAR returning to Canada to race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with both the Cup and Xfinity Series and even though we may have to wait for it to be officially announced, it already sounds like it’s already penciled in for next year, so until then, goodbye!

As a Canadian NASCAR fan I would love to see NASCAR return to Canada, especially the Cup series. I know when I was younger I felt sidelined in a way watching NASCAR. Everything is always the USA this, USA that. I remember one time seeing a giveaway being held for something I really liked, but was disappointed to learn that it required to enter your state, and you couldn’t enter a Canadian province. I couldn’t even have a *chance* to win or participate in most giveaways or events just cause I lived in Canada. Not to mention the times trying to find where to watch NASCAR events, especially delayed ones, on Canadian stations. Even going to a race meant crossing the border, more planning than most domestic trips, and having to change currencies. It always felt so close to me while being so far.
It would be great seeing NASCAR return to Canada even just as a “hey, you exist! Nice to see you :)”.

For a little more context, it’s been more readily apparent with each passing race that there’s likely heavy team orders within Venturini to make sure Jesse Love gets the best finishes. At Berlin, he led 198 laps, started having mechanical issues with a few to go, and got a textbook bump n run from William Sawalich, who went on to win.

Jesse had a problem with his and vowed to “ballpark” Sawalich whenever he could.

The next week at Elko (race before Mid Ohio) it was obvious that Hingorani was targeting Sawalich to keep him from beating Love, not only ramming Sawalich, but essentially running through Andrés Pérez de Lara at one point because he was between him and Sawalich.

But when Hingorani was in 2nd place behind Love, he was perfectly content staying there, which was obvious at Mid Ohio as well. Love started having problems, and as soon as Dean Thompson got around Love, Hingorani was suddenly in a hurry to get the lead, and was immediately on the bumper of Dean.

Hingorani spun Schacht out after getting spun by Dean. He keyed his radio saying “I need a caution,” then put the bumper to Schacht, the first car he reached, because he wanted that caution. Then when he couldn’t get it, he just puttered around and went a lap down so he could wreck his teammate that way instead

If ARCA can prove all that, I would suspend him the whole season and the car for several races too

thank god as a NASCAR fan from Canada and from a neighbouring province of Quebec I agree us Canadian fans have been under served especially with the trucks leaving Canadian tire Motorsport park. hopefully this happens sooner rather than later as I would love to see NASCAR again on my home soil. this would also be amazing because the travel cost to go to Montreal would be a lot cheaper than travelling out to the US. although possibly NASCAR might want to look at travelling to more tracks than just Montreal like potentially the cup series at Canadian tire Motorsport park.

I have watched your news videos for 4 or 5 yrs now and I just realized something. You’re videos are so informative, and exactly the type of NASCAR news we care about. Without you, we’d be stuck with NASCAR hub. And while I do like the anchors on the show, their whole hour show is about a bunch of blah that is not informative, they go on about random statistics nobody cares about. It is not even worth watching anymore. Thank you Eric Estepp for keeping it real and not afraid to cover important story lines outside of the Cup level

Grandpa Shark July 12, 2023 at 1:50 am

Yes, I watch hub. But it is basically a 60 minute commercial for Nascar. They hardly cover anything negative about the governing body. Every race is the best they’ve ever seen!

IanPerez2000 July 12, 2023 at 5:59 am

I haven’t sat down and seen a full-episode of NASCAR Race Hub since April 2020 (lockdown). The driver interviews during lockdown was fine, but I was bored with the show.

It hasn’t been the same since SPEED died. Not only that, when the studio is just green screen only. I thought it was cool at first at the time, but it wasn’t appealing. Radioactive is the only thing I watch on YouTube from Race Hub.

It just isn’t the same, to be honest.
