What if Australia’s Supercar Series came to the USA during our summer and their winter?

The SRX is supposed to coincide with NASCAR, not compete with it. The nascar sanctioning body shouldn’t feel threatened by it at all. The SRX is the only opportunity for us as fans to see drivers like Stewart, Elliott, Labonte, Schrader, Biffle, Kenseth, Bowyer, and Waltrip in a race car actually being competitive on the race track once again, and that perfectly compliments the best of the best in stock car racing in our sport racing almost every Sunday.

I’m glad ESPN is back. Bestwick will be great, but ESPN will never be the same to me without Jenkins, Parsons, Bonnett, Jarrett, and Dr. Punch every Sunday. Still… this looks really promising.

I’d eventually like to see drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Ron Hornaday Jr, Mike Skinner, Jimmie Johnson, Steve Kinser, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Kyle Petty get behind the wheel of an SRX car. That superstar line up would be cool to see either again, or for the first time.

SRX is my main reason for watching ESPN. And to comment on their channel too.

Pretty sure nascar has never even implied that they feel threatened by the SRX series…… It’s only brought up by talking heads such as Eric each year just before the season starts for something else to try and start drama about I guess, dunno why it is still brought up or ever brought up in the first place really, but yeah that’s the only reason it is

SRX needs Juan Pablo Montoya, as he was he only CART/Indy 500 champion during the IROC era that didn’t participate

It’s fun and I really think the biggest winners are the fans. Everyone can get along and coexist!!

I’d love it if the SRX series made an appearance at Irwindale. The track has a lot of potential and the space to add extra stands if needed. Also, I hope they decide to add a few more cars to the competition in the future. There are nearly double the number of drivers in the series compared to the number of cars on track. Adding 2-4 more cars is really all it needs.

What do you mean? As in like there are suppose to be say 20 drivers drive in the series at some point over the six races but there are only 10 cars in each race?? (Numbers are entirely made up and just used as an example btw…..) Is that what your saying or???

Yon Bonjour July 12, 2023 at 10:05 pm

@DIY Chad 726 That’s exactly how the series operates right now. They only have 12 cars on track for each race, but if you check the driver list online, they have 23 drivers participating in the series. While some of the drivers may not be available for all the races, I’m willing to bet enough of them are to include a few more cars on track. AFAIK, they limited the number of cars to 12 for a few reasons – mainly costs and safety – but with the series growing at the rate it is, the cost argument isn’t as strong and I personally don’t believe 2-4 more cars on track will create less safe environment.

Lots of different series of drivers included in this years SRX. I did not see any Can Am or GT drivers listed. Would love to see a few of those drivers involved someday soon. Thanks Eric for the videos. Much appreciated.

I’m really excited that they brought back “Thursday Night Thunder” a lot of nostalgia with just the label. Can’t wait to see some great racing this season with SRX!

This Thursday is the PERFECT day to start the season. With the MLB on the All-Star break, these two days (today and tomorrow) are the 2 days in the year with the least amount of sports going on. No NFL, no MLB, no NBA, no NHL, no college sports, no racing. This is amazing!

I think they can work in harmony together. I am going to the SRX race at thunder Road which is my local short track and I’m excited to see some of NASCAR/auto sports biggest stars/legends. I have been looking forward to this since January when they announced they were coming to the track.

Hands down the most objective and fulsome encapsulation of the SRX Series and how it almost perfectly fits fans demands for racing entertainment. As Eric rightly points out, SRX, for the time being, doesn’t take itself too seriously. Its just entertainment. But wowzer, look at the infrastructure Tony Stewart is building for the future.
