Nascar Group Qualifying Fails

Growing up a Nascar fan in the mid 2010's. I wanted to revisit the disaster that Nascar Group Qualifying was. Although Nascar still does this on some road courses and larger tracks, the attempt to do it on super speedway and regular 1.5 mile tracks did not go well. I hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you did make sure to leave some more suggestions in the comment section down below. Thanks for watching!

Group qualifying was a shitshow. Glad they got rid of it.

Honestly, I love’d group qualifying. Hell the shenangians that would go on involving weird strategy made it honestly MORE endearing for me. It made qualifying interesting, it brought mind games and strategy. But people complained because apparently NASCAR can’t be too fun.

I was upset when they removed group qualifying. I liked seeing the sprint for the pole in the 2019 race at Auto Club where Austin Dillon won and everyone was planning on pit road how they were going to get the pole. The sad thing is that was what ultimently ended group qualifying. It’s good we still have it for road courses but you can’t get much fun out of people running laps sort of in a group. I guess NASCAR can’t “get too fun”

This why I loved playing NASCAR 14. Even Qualifying was fun and I liked seeing what the AI would do

If I was Ryan Blaney in that situation, I would’ve gone out of my way to set the slowest pole lap of all time.

Weird how F1 always seem to have the same problem at Monza every time

I think the group qualifying could have worked if it was a practice/qualifying session combined that would be about an hour or so long.

I prefer qualifying single car by single car.

Not as much of a change to wreck other cars

If they bring group qualifying back there should be a new rule: refuse to leave pit road? start in back or be on the infamous DNQ list and *NO ONE* should be allowed to be exempt EVEN points leader with a MASSIVE point lead

“That’s an interesting tactic just to keep pole position. You don’t need to do the lap.” -Lewis Hamilton

I’d like to see some sort of elimination qualifying. Have all the cars on track in a big group, give them 2 minutes to set a time and then eliminate the slowest driver every minute until it’s just the pole sitter left.

What’s funny is at Auto club, blaney was the first to fire off again with Kyle Busch gunning it off pit road just like at that Michigan truck race
