Awesome to see another international driver hop onto the Cup Series on another Road Course race! Also nice to see the RCR 33 return!

I hope we get more international drivers. I could see in another 10yrs nascar being 1/2 filled with international drivers.

I hope Martin doesn’t retire. He’s been my favorite driver for a while now. If he retires, it’s his choice. I’ll always respect what he does.

He is getting older so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did retire

@NASCARisthegoat Nascar1234Yes, I’m aware he’s getting older, but I hope he stays in the sport.

Martin is super cool and would hope he has a “see you later season” because the fans would love it with notice please.

ok i know this has nothing to do with the topic but. By always respecting what he does you would even respect if he was racist?

The Chicago race really wasn’t embarrassing for nascar guys. If an Australian wins Indy though I’d be embarrassed.

as much as i don’t want truex to retire, imagine if he won the championship this year and left being on top

It would be wild if Truex pulls a Nico Rosberg

Ned Jarret did that when he won his second cup series championship

I just don’t think MTJ is going to end up retiring but… if he does, I hope he wins the championship…

Marcos Ambrose is the reason I’ve been a Nascar fan since 2008. He’s also the reason I immediately understood the intricacies of stock car oval racing

As Truex fans since he drove the number 1 car, I really don’t want him to retire. He might do one more year and then retire, but it would be sad to see him go. Rooted for him since 2007.

I was at that Monday race at dover in 2007. And I have been a fan ever since too.

@Marcus78
I actually became a fan due to a off brand race car balloon that I had for my birthday as a kid. The balloon had a number 1, and then one day we were watching a race my Dad said, “There’s your guy!” Ever since, I’ve been a fan.

Truex: I think maybe his decision to step away will be based on how much he really still gets from the sport and what he has sacrificed for it. I do think he will be one of those who once they retire, you will never see them again. Kostecki: I don’t think he will be as successful as SVG, partially his age and partially the team he will be driving for. I think KB is over delivering with RCR equipment and somebody green will really struggle.

As much as I would love to see Truex hang around the sport for another year or two, if this is his last year, I would love to see him win the championship…… talk about a storybook ending

I think that Truex is most likely done after this year. As much as I think almost everyone would like to see him keep going, he just doesn’t seem like he’s having that much fun anymore, outside of when he’s winning of course. Cup champion, Xfinity champion, over 30+ Cup wins… if he goes out this year, no one will think any less of him. If the man wants to leave and spend more time with his family, he’s earned the right to do so. Very similar to Matt Kenseth in 2018, I think.

He could do a part time schedule like the Labontes, Bodine, Schrader, and Elliott have down in the past, but that’s doubtful.

Kostecki will do well, but I agree that someone else should be in victory lane at Indy. No offense to Kostecki, or any driver in any other sport, but I REALLY want a Cup regular to win, preferably an SHR driver, Larson, or Buschy.

As much as I like the idea of international expansion for our sport from out competitors, to tracks, to sponsors… I don’t want their presence to overshadow our full time drivers too much.

I think the playoffs will dictate whether Truex keeps going. If he starts to fall off like Chase Elliott did last season then he’d probably keep going but if he’s winning a race per round and the clear favorite he may retire with the championship. Obviously there’s a lot of chance with that but if he maintains this speed everyone should watch out. But imagine if he does retire and we lose Truex and Harvick in the same season…

John Haas July 18, 2023 at 9:25 pm

He’s going to have to make his decision before the playoffs

A couple weeks ago I would’ve said there’s no way he retires. But after hearing his tone and those comments of “Winning doesn’t make a difference”, that’s changing my tune. I think for him he’s simply ready to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life.

As a Truex Fan and a fellow Jersey Guy, I love seeing him winning and would be sorry to see him retire…but dude has been driving (locally) since the 90’s… He deserves to kickback when he’s ready…he put in his time.

Farkle8000 July 18, 2023 at 9:19 pm

I agree with you. I don’t want to see him go. I want to keep seeing him preform at his best with the best

But if he does go, I’ll be OK with that. But I’ll be even more OK with it if we see him win a SS race. If he does that, I will feel that my Truex experience has unfortunately come to a close

New Hampshire is one of two home tracks for Martin , the other is Dover.
Martin had success in the old North series and so a win at the top level definitely had to be a bucket list goal . If he starts heading out to sea in that new boat , my bet is another year won’t happen !❤

Since Brodie has started racing in the Supercars series, even on a part-time basis when he was a co-driver in 2020, he has brought a pretty intimidating racer facade. I immediately think of Bathurst when he was battling with the Red Bull Holdens. Genuinely, Kostecki will love being viewed as the underdog and hopefully, he will feel right at home back in a NASCAR. I’ll be backing him from Australia lol
