Put some frickin inner liners in the tires

No room for inner liners in these new small sidewall tires, unfortunately.

I’m pretty sure they towed Joey’s car all the way around the track as revenge for him cussing out the safety team for being stupid.

Edit: The video of Joey cussing out the safety officer is hilarious tho.

Put loop on them and pick them up with a hook. How hard is that?

Ok, you put a centered and balanced pick up point in the roof of the car. Now you literally need a tow truck big enough to be able to safely pick it up and carry it. The current tow trucks don’t have e that capacity. The piece of equipment needed is either going to be a large front-end loader or a tandem drive axle tow truck. Both of which are much slower and far less maneuverable. The quick easy solution is to use a tow dolly set up for tow tow trucks.

The balance point disappeares if part of the car is missing.

@Approaching target. if that much of the car is missing, then they aren’t towing it by conventional means anyways.

@Joe Culp Jr the speed of a tow truck isn’t going to matter if they can hook up in seconds and be off.

Supercars in Australia use a flat bed tow truck that tilts to make it easy the winch the car on the back of the truck. Safety teams clean up while the truck takes the wrecked car around back of the teams pit bay. It’s a very efficient method and gets the cars out on the track to commence racing as soon as possible. No dragging cars backwards on four flat tyres, that is time consuming and a bit rough for the driver inside.

Why is it that when Joey complains about issues they get done fast, but when fans complain about similar issues they choose to wait?

Reply
Cam Dog July 25, 2023 at 10:23 pm

Probably because Joey is actually racing and fans are just sitting at home watching and drinking beer

Why not just go back to the 15in wheel with the bigger sidewalls and still keep it single lug?

The real change should be Logano’s attitude. Abuse towards volunteer track workers is never justified.

Safety workers are not volunteers. They are paid workers of the track. The wreckers are contracted with napscar to be the official wrecker company. Just like AMR is. The safety workers are each tracks responsibility

The car was toast before the truck hooked up.

They make a flatbed rollback lays flat on the ground you put the car on and then lift it up

Joey’s car did rattle a ton while going around that 2.5 mile track on all 4 flats.
I’m not entirely sure what they could do to fix the sitiation but I’m happy to hear they’re looking into it.
I’m curious to see how they try and what they test to make it better or at the very least, less damaging to the underneath portions of the car as they haul it around the track

I was there at the infield care center when Joey was being interviewed and he seemed frustrated, but still in good enough spirits to take a picture with my cadets that did the color guard for all the races this race weekend. Thank you Pocono Raceway and NASCAR for the awesome experience for my cadets.

There’s not much work to do. Add one more safety truck with a tire crew (can use a cup team reserve if needed) and change the tires on the apron. Your telling me Goodyear won’t pay for this and sponsor this. Hell I bet they will lend a trailer full of tires if multiple cars are stuck. Priority is simple. Whoever is running ahead at time of caution gets priority. It is a light switch in this case. Just do it

Why not get a rotator that can lift the vehicle off the ground? If nothing else, the rotator could put the car on a flatbed.

Cole Trickle July 26, 2023 at 1:25 am

Don’t they have the inner liner (tire within a tire) tire 4 this Gen 7 cup car?
