Would SVG bring Red Bull back to NASCAR?
Who knows
@Jon Reyes Looks like Kenny Wallace raised this as a possibility as well.
Richmond may be Bowman’s best chance . . . it’s also one of Hamlin’s best tracks . . .
I swear to God if this race ends with Hamlin wrecking Bowman for a win I’m going to take a sledgehammer to my #11 Car diecasts.
Do a YouTube video of it please I will gladly support destruction of any hamlin memorabilia
I second that.
I third that
I fourth that
Do it!! No one even likes him anymore.
SVG is good on dirt ovals (410 sprint cars). He’ll adapt quickly, talent is talent.
There’s hundreds of drivers good on dirt ovals in the states. It doesn’t mean anything.
Maybe he’ll adjust, maybe not. Sim time will certainly help.
Tell that to Jimmie Johnson in Indycar
He will probably be ok but not great at first
@Crush1084 JJ was driving the best equipment with the best crew chief in nascar during nascar’s most lop sided era, then went to Indycar to drive mid pack equipment,. Not exactly apples to apples.
@kclaptraffictell that to the other JJ, USAC triple crown winner and look at his NASCAR career
Eric’s channel sponsored by Kubota? Awesome! Love their tractors! Garage56 at the Hendrick headquarters is cool, but I’d like to see it at the Hall of Fame building. It deserves to be there.
I think the reason Allmendinger is skipping qualifying is because he wants to prove that regardless if his Cup Series venture with Kaulig doesn’t work out, he can still get the job done in Xfinity equipment. He would’ve won the Xfinity title in 2021 if the playoffs never existed, but he might feel that he needs to prove that he is not a joke in NASCAR, and that he can still be trusted in equipment on the level of Kaulig’s to get the job done. Job security could be on his mind with Justin Haley leaving the team, and SVG possibly coming into the sport for any team in the garage. And, if that’s the case, then he should be okay because he’s proven that he’s a beast in Xfinity equipment, like pretty much every open wheel driver in existence nowadays. What is it about open wheel drivers, particularly IndyCar drivers outside of Tony Stewart, doing so much better in Xfinity racing than Cup racing?
I think it’s more than likely that SVG will bring Red Bull back into the sport next season, so that will narrow down his team choices, especially if teams sponsored by Monster Energy (23XI & SHR) want to snap him up. I’d say his best bet is to go with Trackhouse. They have a good relationship already, and even though charters cost a crap ton of money, they could probably make it work, while still keeping PROJECT 91 around for Kimi Raikkonen.
I think SVG will have the career stats similar to Montoya, Ambrose, Mario Andretti, and Dan Gurney. Great on road courses, good on short tracks, can be trusted to draft with on superspeedways, questionable on dirt tracks (he has done well on dirt, but with Dirt Bristol… I don’t know). Not great, but not bad at all.
The only way Elliott and Bowman will win this year is if they step up their performance compared to where they’ve been since their respective penalties hit them below the belt line. Elliott will have his best chance at Watkins Glen, and Bowman will have his best chance at the short tracks coming up. They might get it done, but if they don’t… it’ll be like this.
Bad Seasons: Chase Elliott & Alex Bowman 2023
I would guess almendinger is after the paycheck of an Xfinity win more than the trophy and the team might could use their share of that win to improve their future efforts
That’s what I’m thinking, it’s more about the money than anything else, good sponsorship money for the xfinity race and not so much for anyone else, that’s my thinking. You can’t say that to the media though because then everyone will start saying you’re only in it for the money.
You realize the paychecks are TERRIBLE in the Xfinity series, right?
Eric just proved AJ’s point… Saying that there are 2 more road courses before the first cut off for the playoffs!
As a Bowman fan, I just want a top 10 at this point man
Same here.
Sameeeeee
No lie!!! He’s been running fast but bad luck has been taking him out
I’m with you guys. It will be so strange if the 9 and 48 don’t make the playoffs. Let’s go guys!
as a bowman fan i haven’t really given up on the season yet just because i know how important stage points can be. if he has 1 or especially 2 races where he runs top 5 or at least top 10 all day and collects a hefty amount of stage points, he could walk out of that race within true striking distance. i’m not convinced he can win a race before the playoffs but he always seems to win when i least expect it so i suppose you never know with this man
on that note i’d like to remind everyone of the time Bowman got passed for the lead at chicagoland by Kyle Larson with just a few laps to go and even lost some ground to him, but drove back up and made a clean pass to win his first race. unrelated to my point but i never see that moment mentioned and it really impressed me at the time and even more in hindsight
I want McDowell to qualify for the playoffs by pointing his way in so bad because I think that would be really cool and prove he belongs in the post season
it would be a huge statement for Front Row Motorsports
He’s got a shot. Guy deserves it. Craziest thing to me is Stenhouse would likely have made playoffs without a win this year
It’s just good seeing front row running better these last 2 years. It’s even better seeing McDowell do well even with his last years CC moving to Hendrick.
They’re getting closer and closer I feel like.
He would beat 2 Hendricks cars
3 haas cars
1 Gibbs car
And 1 Penske car
That’s crazy
I agree whole heartedly!! Can’t help but love the guy, he seems so friendly and genuine. He’s hard to route against…
Kaulig would be the top of my predictions to nab SVG, I’m really excited to see where he ends up!
Shr
HMS… Bowman gets let go.
So just based off of what Kaulig and AJ are doing this weekend I wouldn’t be surprised if Kaulig has 2 new Cup drivers next season and AJ goes back to the Xfinity Series full time. I think AJ prefers to run full time in Xfinity and do a few road course Cup races. Just my thoughts.
Honestly that’s my first thought too
Does anyone else think that Gibbs is gonna run good at Michigan and maybe even get another top 5. He finished top ten last year and he only had like 5 starts. It may get just be me but I think he runs good.
Interesting news about Allmendinger. You would think Kaulig would be focused on getting AJ all the points he can
You have to realize Kaulig knows they likely won’t make playoffs unless AJ wins IMS or the Glen. They know their cup team is not ready yet. They know however that without other cup guys like Ty Gibbs, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott not running Xfinity means they’ve got a good shot to win with AJ. They say trophy huntings a bad thing, ask SVG. He showed up to one race which suited him perfectly and now has cup offers. Wins = Sponsors. Just Business
I really think the allmendinger thing is a non-issue… he’ll start in the back and make his way up to where his car is probably supposed to be anyway. Its a long race at richmond
Edit: only thing i can think of that will really be an issue is stage points, but even that depends on whether bubble drivers get stage points or not.
Apparently, it was Matt Kaulig who wanted A.J. to run the Xfinity race. You do what the boss wants!
SVG is a phenomenal driver, and makes other road ringers like Robby Gordon look like a goddamn JOKE. I’m excited to see him drive full schedule next year.
I feel like Bowman has had some good runs going these past 3 weeks but all ended in some sort of on track incident. I really think he can get a win before the playoffs start if they just stay out of trouble. Maybe that’s just the Bowman fan in me talking, but I still have hope!
Kyle Busch has been honest in his assessment of Kaulig racing and these actions by the organization and by AJ prove it.
As a big Hendrick fan, I’ll be sad if only 2 cars make it into the playoffs, but both Elliott and Bowman have had missed races due to injuries and also taken penalties this season. Hopefully this causes them as drivers, and as a whole team, to be more careful.
