Seriously I’m honestly surprised there’s no safer barrier at that point!
Not every track is gonna have safer barriers
Plus it’s expensive to put that safer barrier on every wall, especially on this track, and because of that they have to put the safer barrier in places where cars are more likely to crash. Obviously this is a freak occurrence, but nobody would normally be crashing that hard on a straightaway.
Why? It’s a straight away on a road course.
@theoriginalshew what about Alex Labbe then?
Why no safer barrier walls on the frontstretch?
It’s a road course, wrecks and issues don’t usually happen at high speeds on the straights, so there’s no need to have SAFER barriers.
Chandler absolutely did the right thing trying to ride the wall
no he made it worse
@chad4208better to ride the wall to slow down than to go head on at 160 mph plus.
@BDeLuca4444he didnt ride the wall. he put himself into concrete at a 45 degree angle. He tried to ride the walk but failed
@BDeLuca4444Yes,do Brasil,very well
@chad4208He failed at riding the wall, but he absolutely succeeded at not plowing into the turn one wall at 160.
Glad he’s ok.
Prayers up, man!
He’s gonna be feeling that for a while.
LOL, Sky Fairy talk.
Good thing about it is he had enough time to get the foresight to do something before the turn
That looks fatal but it not because of the safety thing nascar puts on the cars
I hope someone says something about the fact that the wall split the way it did. That’s not that far from hitting the gate at Bristol.
If he didnt do that he woulda skipped right over the sand trap and smashed something head on
Ahh that engine sound
Scary incident! Glad Chandler walked away!
SMT data said when his brakes failed he was going over 170 miles per hour. I can’t imagine the helpless feeling. He made the right decision but I can’t imagine purposely hitting a wall that fast knowing it’s your only option.
Ive been in this situation in a national go kart event going about 100 km/h (aimed for 1 level tire barrier in the centre of the track as opposed to hitting a tire wall head on or spinning the kart). You dont have time to think you just see an opportunity to slow the vehicle down and go for it.
I’ve always wonder if they could slow the cars down by downshifting first and then maybe hitting the wall at a lower speed… anybody knows?
