it’s kinda crazy how from within less than a month, most of nascar went from barely knowing SVG to now speculating what cup ride he’ll get

It’s funny how much crap people give to drivers when they move up to the Cup Series too soon, meanwhile you have this guy who wins a Cup race, and now everyone wants him full-time in Cup immediately, without having him race in lower divisions at all.

@crystaljon NASCAR fans do things like that a ton

SVG to the 10. SHR is going the wrong way so really taking a risk is about what is needed for them. Don’t miss another big name SHR

I think him going to SHR will be a death sentence.
So much talent, such weak cars.

SHR needs to rebuild, and SVG might be the driver they’re looking for to help with that.

It’s one thing for Denny Hamlin to be aggressive and dirty and defending it, but then complains when others wanna race him the way he is racing others. Granted, Denny Hamlin isn’t boring and nor is he a hype show. I’ll give him that.

I am fine with Denny Hamlin defending aggressive racing, so long as he is fine with other drivers racing him the same way

Congrats with new sponsor. As for Hamlin, he needs to keep Mark Martin’s name out of his mouth

I’ve been looking at some supercar stuff, and the penalties they issue for aggressive racing are absolutely ridiculous by NASCAR standards. I suspect SVG will be a lot more comfortable with our racing rules if nothing else.

Well I think Denny is falling exactly into what he was criticizing… over aggressive drivers in the NASCAR garage. Now I think this has to do with a Veteran class that doesn’t dish out intimidation… WHICH IS FINE…. But paired with a younger class of drivers that race wayyyyy more aggressive and sometimes with less respect makes for a troubled combo. Not that I’m saying we need veterans going out wrecking people but something is def wrong with how newer drivers race people

What no one is talking about is that they can be more aggressive racing now because the equipment is better today than it was ever before i.e. during the previous eras.

I think that 21 car can’t be ruled out either. There might be some form of familiarity for SVG from Penske’s time in supercars. Seeing as the 21 is a penske satellite.

SVG to nascar is now all but certain. While Trackhouse is good, I’m really hoping he signs with a team that really needs someone of his caliber on their side, like maybe Wood Brothers or SHR, that is if Red Bull doesn’t come back with him. Looking forward to seeing what he can do full time!

Short track packaging will be improved next year no matter what, but I hope that with the splitter test happening now, short track racing will improve almost immediately. Wishful thinking, but still…

“Even Mark Martin would have to adjust his driving style in this new car.” No he wouldn’t, Denny. Mark was way too nice of a driver to be THAT aggressive with his racing style. You may have a point that drivers need to race as hard as ever now, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re still acting like a jerk about what you did to Larson, by continuing to deny involvement in it, and placing the blame on someone/something else. You may have a right to defend yourself, but you shouldn’t say it’s someone or something else’s fault when the fault is clearly on you. It was an honest mistake during a race. Why won’t you admit that, apologize, and move on? Sorry if I’m sounding like a “Karen”, but in my opinion, he still owes Larson, and the entire NASCAR fan base, a heartfelt apology.

Good theory about the drivers waiting on tv deals to be finalized before making big decisions. Money does make the world go around, and more finalized contracts give the garage area a better feeling of security.

Almirola pressured to consider retirement decision? Sounds like he and Truex are in the same boat right now. In my opinion, while he is a decent driver, and he can be trusted to bring the car home in one piece, Almirola’s time in NASCAR full time is up. He was wanting to leave last year, but he stuck around. I think based on his performance in 2020, last year, and so far this year, he’s right to be considering hanging up the helmet. He may still have the speed, but SHR needs more winning drivers right now, before the team is in serious trouble, and since Almirola doesn’t win consistently at top level competition anymore, maybe he should think about joining CARS or SRX next year, if he wants to keep racing. SHR needs to rebuild, and it’s time for the old guard to step aside for the new guard.

Denny Hamlin say moving forward, he was gonna try not to race Kyle Larson like that as much as possible.

I don’t mind Hamlin’s Pocono move, the way he blamed Larson though is stupid

As hamlin said he got tired of being runover the past few years and now he’s learned that’s how he should race. He’s not exaggerating that either, just look at the past few years and how many times he’s dumped for either no reason or a misjudgement on his end. Also everyone takes his words under a microscope like this video is doing essentially, he doesn’t need to be in the news for every statement he makes.

Hamlin may just be the SMARTEST driver in NASCAR, maybe even racing.

I predict SVG will run a majority of races (but part-time schedule) for Trackhouse in the 91, and then a top tier Chevy Xfinity Ride for the full season. That way he gets experience on the ovals in reduced competition, and Trackhouse can get away with having only 2 charters for at least another year.

AAA July 31, 2023 at 5:40 pm

Dario Franchitti went straight to Cup and was back in Indy cars the next year.
A team can run a car without a charter, they would need a really good sponsor but it is an option. It has been done before. They would risk missing the 500 but there is never a full field any other time.

Reply
Cooper Sweeney July 31, 2023 at 5:40 pm

I would imagine that Trackhouse and SVG would have the funding to run a full-time car without a charter next year if they wanted to

Manuel Zamora July 31, 2023 at 5:45 pm

Mark fan since the 80s. Mark would never come down to the Logano level. I imagine he would race his own way. He’s a respectful man. Mark said he would cut off his right arm before doing what Logano did. That’s a man that values respect.

You can tell how insecure Denny feels in his position since he continues to defend it and being so outspoken
