When Truex and Almirola announce what they’re doing
That’s when silly season goes into complete chaos

If Martin dose retire this year I think Toyota and lagacy stay with Noha another year unless find a driver with sponsorship and John hunter in the 19

JackCSports August 2, 2023 at 6:14 pm

@John HaasI think they might put Sammy Smith in that car
He’s really good AND he has big sponsorship money

Reply
Kurtis Galloway August 2, 2023 at 6:16 pm

@JackCallSports Smith needs another year in Xfinity at least.

Reply
Erik Schyvinck August 2, 2023 at 6:18 pm

Smith is good. Gragson is better in Xfinity, too.
Sammy needs one more year in Xfinity. I think John Hunter Nemecheck is looking for another ride.

@Kurtis GallowayI think so too
But money is the name of the game now

I know Gragson has been nothing short of HORRIBLE this season, but you have to keep him for at least 2 seasons. You need to give him time to develop. Otherwise, you are just going to be wasting him.

Also I think its safe to say this year has been more or less a throwaway year
Jones hasn’t been much more than an after thought this season

I understand if the team is bad this year but he’s still running behind Ty Dillion and RWR him being a rookie can’t excuse that

Reply
Crush1084 August 2, 2023 at 6:36 pm

You could say the very same thing about JHN though. He only got a year himself, though he at least showed flashes.

Reply
Isaac August 2, 2023 at 6:41 pm

@Crush1084tbf Front Row sounded like they wanted JHN back in the 38 and it was JHN’s choice to go to trucks with Toyota.

Reply
mimimi August 2, 2023 at 8:28 pm

@Isaac Ragan was the last good driver for the 38
JHN was below average, same with Alfredo

The 38 just sucks in general

I’m gonna say it now even though I’ve seen this before. Noah is first a rookie and clearly LMC is not even close to their top. I understand Noah has been bad this year but I’m not putting anything on him and would keep him for maybe another two years.

Jesse Daly August 2, 2023 at 8:00 pm

I agree with you however I personally feel that John Hunter is a slightly better talent and way more mature. Toyota had to play babysitter with Noah once before and I don’t think that have any desire to do that again. Noah still has some growing up to do. If I’m Toyota I make the switch. Sucks for Noah but life isn’t always fair.

Especially when Briscoe is like 31st in points in better cars.

Reply
Matt Cecil August 2, 2023 at 11:10 pm

Getting rid of Jimmie from
LMC management would be a start. I’m a massive Jimmie Johnson fan but the moment he joined the team was the moment they collapsed after Jones set them up last year. It’s not a coincidence.

As a Gragson fan this pains me if he gets dumped hope he goes to the 31

Reply
crystaljon August 2, 2023 at 6:39 pm

So what happened to Austin Hill being the top contender for the #31 ride?

Reply
Alex Z. kollar August 2, 2023 at 6:42 pm

@crystaljon legacy looking to drop gragson, that’s what. Austin is not a better driver than Noah

@Alex Z. kollarlol Hill has been amazing in RCR this year
You’re blind

Reply

@crystaljon either that or he’ll be a 3rd car for cup RCR

Or the 77. I could see Gregson in the 77 and SVG in the 10

It be a shame if Noah gets the boot.

Noah gragson was so fun to watch in the xfinty series he is one of my favorite drivers. But I think another season or two in the xfinty series would do him well.

Reply
TrackX1 August 2, 2023 at 6:31 pm

Maybe he will want to go back to the 8

Reply
Timechanger ! August 2, 2023 at 6:32 pm

Honestly no. Unless he’s staying in xfinity I wouldn’t put him back. He needs time and a decent team. His team sucks rn even Erik jones isn’t doing very well either. 1 year doesn’t say everything about your career. Look at hendrick. Bowman and Byron were pretty bad their first few years but after that they were up there and playoff threats and now Byron is a championship threat. They all just need time. In another year or 2 if he’s still not doing well then it could be another cole custer

Reply
dean coffey August 2, 2023 at 6:45 pm

@Timechanger ! Thats a really good point

Reply

Getting kicked out of legacy might be the best thing for Gragson. Even with Toyota support, that team will still be terrible. Hope Gragson can land something better

Mohammad Mirza August 2, 2023 at 7:31 pm

Considering the success of 23xi I’d say they might be marginally better next year and in a few they’ll be pretty average

Noah was on fire last year and unfortunately took the first cup offer. He probably should have stayed in Xfinity for a minimum of another season.

Reply
FormulaChris085 August 2, 2023 at 10:42 pm

Honestly, the 42 wasn’t a bad offer to take last year, but that came with the assumption that LMC would be as competitive as they were last year.
They haven’t been (and really, most of the Childress and affiliated cars besides the 1, 8, and maybe the 31 have been on a downswing this year).

Reply
Uncensored August 3, 2023 at 4:26 pm

@FormulaChris085Yes it was. The 42 was garbage last year as well. The minute he took the first offer that came his way I knew it was a mistake. He was set at JRM. But took the first offer that came too him.

Maura Carr August 2, 2023 at 6:31 pm

Booting Noah after just a year would be cruel. It’s not his fault Legacy hasn’t been good all year. I like his Wendy’s sponsor and his crazy haircut bets. He’s got a personality, but maybe a different team would fit him better so he can show his talent?

Reply
dxfifa August 3, 2023 at 2:56 am

He’s been pure garbage by any standard, crashing, no pace, just out of his depth. Jones is a mid level driver just stomping him

Reply
Uncensored August 3, 2023 at 4:28 pm

@dxfifaI agree. If it wasn’t his fault he would be finishing races more. He’s just been utter garbage this year.

Reply
Kevin Littrell August 2, 2023 at 6:34 pm

It’s crazy that Gragson went from winning like 4 races in a row in the Xfinity to possibly* not even having a ride next year.

*Forgot to add possibly when I first wrote this. Kinda feel like it should be clarified cus he could definitely find somewhere else, and I think, honestly, the chance of him having no ride next year is pretty damn low.

Reply
DEI FAN August 2, 2023 at 6:56 pm

Maybe Spire will take him

Reply
Kevin Littrell August 2, 2023 at 6:58 pm

@DEI FAN that’s a death sentence in of itself. I know Lajoie’s made progress with it, but that 77 car is another league of bad.

Reply

He joins a terrible 42 car and in his first year doesn’t turn it around. But Jones isn’t doing much better

Reply
billy88joe August 2, 2023 at 6:34 pm

Poor Erik Jones, 4 years with a team that’s went through 3 driver changes, 2 corporate Rebrandings, and 1 OEM car change.

Reply
John Haas August 2, 2023 at 7:50 pm

He’s happy to be going back to Toyota I believe

Reply

Erik Jones deserves better but I think he’s happy with his ride
It’s either that or nothing imo

Will England August 2, 2023 at 6:41 pm

I think Noah is the new favorite to replace Justin Haley in the 31 in my opinion. He showed some flashes in the 16 last year and I believe that he brings some sponsorship with Wendy’s and Black Rifle Coffee.

Reply
Tyler S. August 2, 2023 at 8:11 pm

That’s my exact thoughts. The only other team who could take him is Spire, but they might bring up Hocevar so that’s unlikely.

Reply
mimimi August 2, 2023 at 8:36 pm

@Tyler S. Hocevar isn’t ready

Reply
Patrick Tuggles August 2, 2023 at 10:05 pm

@mimimihe’s going to cup next year. He announced yesterday on DBC, just doesn’t know what team yet

Reply
carcrasher88YT August 3, 2023 at 2:52 am

Throw on top of that the fact that both Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice both love drivers with personality, which is something Noah has in spades.

Bring Wendy’s and BRCC, maybe add in some Celsius dollars, and that #31 won’t need to have many races sponsored by the team owner next year.

And, the #31 would be a step up from the CURRENT #42, even if not as good as the #42 could be next season.

Parker August 2, 2023 at 6:47 pm

I feel like this has to be the worst rookie season any driver has had that I’ve remembered. It’s funny though that he might not drive a toyota, since he said before that he’s not a fan of Toyota and ty gibbs. He left TRD development to go to jr motorsports because he believed it was better long term. It’s just interesting to see how Noah really feels about Toyota.

Bailey Canterbury August 3, 2023 at 12:17 am

No, look at AJ Allmendinger’s statuses from 2007. Failed to qualify 19 or 20 times in a well funded car in

I wasn’t thrilled when Noah went to Legacy, so I hope he ends up somewhere better, even if he drops back to Xfinity, I’m sure he would get back to cup soon. Definitely too soon to call him a bust.

Reply
Laine Philips August 2, 2023 at 7:17 pm

LMC took a step back bc Chevy pulled manufactur support when they announced they were going to Toyota with TRD and Jones, JHN as drivers they will be a borderline playoff team next year

Reply
Sanjo456 August 3, 2023 at 5:17 am

Sure seems like Chevy pulled manufacturer support a long time before that announcement came out as bad as those cars have been the entire year

Branden Curtin August 2, 2023 at 7:19 pm

I figured they’d learn letting prospects leave like Daniel Suarez in the 19. Maybe they wouldn’t have as many wins they had the past few years but they’d be set up to have more in the future. And I think Hendrick played the transition perfectly after dale jr, Jimmie, and Jeff. They got lucky with Larson, but developing 2 of the best drivers in cup possibly 2 more Hof. And then adding a solid top 15 driver in Alex Bowman who may not win championships but he’s good enough to get you a few wins in a hendrick car ( this year being off with the penalty and breaking his back I would give him a pass especially when he was leading points till his back). Sorry for the book just my opinion.

fastcorey August 2, 2023 at 7:22 pm

Kind of reminds me of when RCR let Daniel Hemric go after his rookie season. However Hemric actually ran decent. Hopefully Noah finds a home, I think he’s good for the Cup series.

Ryan Scott August 2, 2023 at 7:31 pm

It should be mentioned that Erik Jones has had a much improved last 6 races.

An argument can be made that Noah Gragson is not only having a horrific rookie season, but perhaps the worst rookie season in the cup series history
