What is your favorite NASCAR game?
Thunder 04
Nascar 2005 chase for the cup was the first I ever played so that one.
nascar 05 cftc
Nascar Chase For the Cup. The mod for the Dolphin Emulator makes it look incredible.
I prefer a NASCAF license open for all again, like if was before 2003 and in early 2010s
Let iRacing, Gran Turismo, Forza, anyone that wants have NASCAR for their 4acing game have it
I second this
I guess it’s time to Start a Go Fund me to buy up the License
I third (or fourth) this! It was great when you could find cars from various series’ in multiple franchises!
How I would fix nascar gaming in the short term.
1) Get nascar in forza motorsport. Even if they can’t get the next gens, try for a Gen 6 or Gen 4 car
2) Try and make a Nascar manager like F1 has. This seems like the easiest option and could show the more strategic side of the sport.
3) Make a mod for a game like Automobilista 2. Their indycar mod is great and this would be a better alternative to people who don’t want to pay for iracing.
I think the big question needing to be answered is “Why do so many people want EA to come back?” Because THOSE people definitely need a wake-up call, and a history lesson on the last decade.
Honestly Ea has done better then any of the other companies that made a game since they let the license go. The games after 09 have been so bad more and more people has just been leaving consoles for iracing
Why would you not want EA to “come back” ? Obviously, current EA is trash, early 2000’s EA was great. That is what people mean, they want the old EA to come back.
Just a crazy idea but if I was NASCAR I would approach 2k and have them make a NASCAR game. I could see a my career and even a my owner mode.
Only if they say “You can release our game, we’ll endorse it, but no exclusive licensing.”
I hope nascar will be in the new forza motorsport considering it had a big community in the last game
i also hope it has some form of track editor along with at least some gen NASCARs. Then we could just make all the tracks instead of just being stuck with Daytona and one fake track
@master_bdoof200 sadly I pretty sure Daytona won’t be at launch but im confident it will 100% be added later along with Homestead, and Indy and Eaglerock are at launch but def want some older gen nascar and support series
@master_BDoof Forza Horizon already have it and people do great ovals on it (not mentioning the 2 ovals Horizon team had made)
@cosmo18 I think that Daytona will beacuse of the IMSA licence
I am more worried about Glen not showing up in launch beacuse of gran turismo
I’ve said for years. Nascar needs to stop the exclusive rights. Competition, usually breeds better products. I’ve seen people say they don’t want Monster Games back because it would basically be the Heat series. But at least we would get a yearly nascar game. Iracing and monster did a good job on the WoW game.
I liked NASCAR Heat, bring it back!
this ruined f1 games too. we used to have gp4 and f1 2002
WOO-World of Outlaws….get it right pal
I’d argue that Monster Games might not make a Heat style game. They’re owned now by iRacing. So I could see a game to NR2003 and iRacing with a mix of some elements from Heat.
No more exclusive License. But knowing NASCAR they’re going to do the opposite because of Money
Well with iR saying they are working on a career mode, I’m wondering if that’s something NASCAR and fans are aware of and how/why the licensing plays into it given iR can use the offical NASCAR branding as far as I am aware
Whomever makes the next NASCAR game they need to bring back the clash, duels, and All Star race.
Agreed always liked those races in the old nascar games bring those back. Go back to nascar thunder
A second comment to talk about that middle tier, I feel like nascar 15 was like that, nascar 14 and 15 are the 2 games that really got me into nascar as a kid and looking back at them they were definitely a kind of in-between
While not a dedicated game, it was really cool when Gran Turismo had a NASCAR license for GT5 & GT6. Would love to see a return at some point in GT7, especially given there’s a bit more variety in ovals than we used to have now (e.g. 0.5 mile & Pocono-style triangle). They already have a connection with IMSA that’s been bringing more American road courses too.
Both GT and Forza had NASCAR on somepoint, i hope the fact that IMSA approach of have support of all companies that want make car racing games and the sucess of ti makes NASCAR to rethink their exclusivty status
ever notice Daytona in gt5 is without restrictor plates on the Cup cars?
What could make or break any future NASCAR games is the career mode. If the career mode isn’t engaging enough for the casual fan, less people will play it
Nascar – we want younger viewers!
Also Nascar – Doesn’t have a good video game
And no, iracing does not count. Its priving model is one of the worst in the entire gaming industry.
The SRX game is probably the closest thing we have to that intermediate-tier game that has been made in the last 5 years.
When you said the arcadey part, I immediately thought of a childhood nascar game I played called NASCAR unleashed. Fun as hell game that I still love playing at age 17. That game sparked my interest in NASCAR when I was young. It’s that easy NASCAR.
Also your question about favorite nascar game? Only played a select few but I’m between inside line and nascar unleashed lol. Only have unleashed, inside line, and heat 5.
Looking back at it, NASCAR was a blue collar sport and throughout the past they’ve had games that reflect that. Kids like myself could grab onto a mostly realistic game that represented what they saw on the track. Now that the sport has changed I feel like that’s harder to capture, it’s not as simple as it used to be. A game that could being that back would take the cake
ETX NASCAR 14 and NASCAR 15 are my favorites. I LOVE the creative freedom in the paint booth. The ability to recreate classic NASCAR schemes. I just wish a NASCAR console game would have the “Create/Design a Track” feature
honestly if they really need to keep the license in a single company, sega i reckon could do a good job, they made amazing racing games, and i think with the nascar ip they could use daytona usa 2 as a template
You make some good points! There was a NASCAR expansion for Forza Motorsport, which was pretty decent – a bit bare bones, but it’s what initially sparked my interest for oval racing. The new one that’s about to come out, could be a great way for NASCAR to get straight into a proper sim-cade. It has a big established player base, and also has a very low barrier of entry with the gamepass etc.
