23XI Racing has been one of the more frustrating teams to watch over the last 3 years in the NASCAR Cup Series. While having a great amount of speed at many tracks, full Toyota support, and sponsorship other teams can only dream of they do have some major issues. Today we are going to look at whatever it is that is going on from those at the top all the way to those on pit road that have cost the team more races than fans would feel comfortable with. So today we are going to ask and look into what is going on with 23XI Racing?

Do you think 23XI Racing will be able to improve?
If they can train their pit crews yeah
If bubba Wallace can improve at road courses and fix their pit road issues they could definitely improve
Yeah!
They should be because they have the best drivers they can pick
all 23XI needs is a competent pit crew and they’d have so many more wins
Is it a coincidence that 23XI is having almost the same pit road issues that their owner, Denny Hamlin, has on a yearly basis?
Idk bout that kid
More like a new rear tire changer. Dude has cost Reddick a lot this year
I wouldn argue that they’d have only a few more wins than they currently would. Reddick would definitely light up the charts, but Bubba seems like he’s someone who’s gonna consistently fill that 10th-15th spot and probably average a win a season.
The thing is that I think they know what they’re doing, they just end up having dumb luck because if Tyler’s team didn’t screw up he would’ve won.
There is a difference between dumb luck & screwing up.
@Grandpa Sharkor screw on in this case…
@Sam Harris well they already forgot to screw on
And if not a win… No less than a top 5! Instead of finishing 30th!!!
But, seriously you can’t compare Kurt Busch’s talent with either of the 2 current drivers! Before he was prematurely retired… He had a real chance of winning the Championship last year!
I felt devastated for Reddick yesterday
They either have fast cars and pit crew problems, or they have cars that are falling off and pit crew problems.
They have the speed it’s just constant mistakes with the pit crew that keeps holding them both back. How many times the 45 could’ve won or competed for the win if his crew didn’t let him down.
I felt bad for Reddick after Michigan. I don’t think I’ve heard him that pissed off after a mistake on Pit Road
He’s usually so calm and collected, cite Bristol Dirt 2022, wrecked for his first win and was just perfectly fine with it. He was not happy at all, but that’s how it’s been all season.
100%
I realize the Bubba Wallace’s frustration at Nashville last year was justified because Tyler Reddick was so pissed after what happened in his pit stop which costed him a potential win
I think that 23XI might do better if both teams, as well as Hamlin (their owner/fellow competitor), simply take the time to work on pit road issues, and start working more to build on consistent performance, and overall team confidence. The more they struggle, especially Wallace, the more their confidence and morale will drop. They just need to work on turning their weaknesses into strengths, and they’ll get better.
Definitely a rebuild and as for the current pit crews for both they need either a kick in the rear end to step or fire em. Maybe scout some crews from other teams like free agents. The 23XI cars are fast they need to bring all together finish or win well.
23XI is NASCAR’s Ferrari in terms of how inconsistent that team is during races. Think of the countless times Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace have lost potential wins and top 10s because of pit crew errors and poor execution, just like the countless times Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have lost wins and podiums due to poor strategy.
As a Ferrari fan, you are 100% right about that. I really think Ferrari as a whole (not just the F1 team) is very poorly run almost as if Fiat doesn’t give a damn about producing quality cars. Enzo Ferrari is probably rolling in his grave at where Ferrari currently is as a brand & if he were alive, everyone would be fired because he did not tolerate failure at all.
They are Ferrari without any of the storied history.
At least Sainz is willing to tell his engineers to f off and get his strategy in place. Leclerc is almost passive when it comes to strategy, which is an issue of he ever wants to compete with Russell and Verstappen for titles in the long run (I did say Russell as who knows how many more years Hamilton is going to stay in F1).
Their pit crews have constantly dropped the ball this year. Both pit crews need a major overhaul.
Going from JGR crews too 23XI exclusive crews a fall off should have been expected. Gibbs has had their program for over a decade, so starting one from the ground up isn’t a easy task but all apart of becoming a top tier Racing operation.
Thats a good point. Maybe they are a year or two off.
Hamlin also talked about issues with 23xi not having there own reserves at this time. When 1 person gets sick on a team they are borrowing a temp from JGR which happens to be someone JGR doesn’t mind doing without and doesn’t have practice time with the 23xi crew
Pit crews mishaps is the most frustrating and I’ve never seen Reddick that furious
They tried 2 rocket league it and used super speed sorry idk if that’s a thing on ro ketchup
Just remember how good Tyler Reddick was at Nashville, until his crew messed up a pit stop, and didn’t tighten the wheel, causing Reddick to spin out on pit road which resulted in a penalty and a terrible finish in that race…
As a day one 23XI fan I really do think we are nearly there you just need to look at some easily correctable mistakes by both Bubba and Tyler
For example Bubba making late and unnecessary blocks paired with Tyler’s lack of speed at certain tracks here and there
Fun fact: Michigan had both RFK, 23XI, and Trackhouse cars lead at least one lap
It’s kinda nice to have 3 growing teams that are Ford, Chevy and Toyota.
23XI is a team that’s good but seems to have gone through a lot more turbulence than other recent start-ups like Trackhouse, both of which are teams that I like and are appropriately comparable.
I ran a bunch of numbers and both teams have the same amount of wins (excluding the SVG one-off thus far), though Chastain kind of carries with a ton of Top 10s and Top 5s compared to everyone else; average finish for Trackhouse is 16.84 and 23XI is 18.75 (17.92 if you exclude Gibbs’ tenure), so roughly the same. Of course I feel like you can not always go by the finishing stats and one has to take into account the performance of a team or driver across an entire race, and I feel like… while Trackhouse is better at being consistent and staying out of trouble, 23XI comes across has having really good strong runs the end up getting squandered due to an on-track incident or a pit-road issue. They do indeed have the speed, but it seems like the teams just kind’a stumble over their own feet a lot; they have really solid highs, but a lot more lows than Trackhouse. Their inconsistency is presently their Achilles’ heel. I think if 23XI can manage to do to their teams… whatever Justin Marks did with Chastain earlier this year, I think they will be better for it, but it’s hard to say that it’ll work.
Get better pit crews! Maybe if they had better pit stops, Bubba would be able to not push the car so hard and maybe have better results. You have to have the whole package to win in this sport.
It’s crazy to see 23XI this season always on front, but all the speed and potentials keep getting flushed away by pit crew. Feel bad for TD and Bubba, they the one who always have to recover back-to-back almost every single races.
