I’ve already accepted the fact that Bubba isn’t making it… Chase is winning Sunday and Bubba will be involved in a last lap wreck at Daytona while in the top 5 to crush my dreams.
That’s a mediocre dream. Try choosing consistent race winners, not race whiners.
Need to have a positive attitude lol
Even if that is the case be proud Bubba has shown a lot of growth this year!!
Chase may be a favorite but this year is so unpredictable. There are a lot of people who could win. Could still have a repeat winner like Truex or Larson
i think todd gilliland had an underrated shot. he is one of the better road course drivers and anything can happen at daytona. id keep an eye out for the 38
Imagine if Front Row had both cars in the playoffs?!
Gilliand is a part time driver
I agree
@Kurt Busch Fanno he’s not. He’s ran all the races this year.
He isnt part time, he is just forced to drive rick ware cars cause of zane smith
I know it is harder to win in the next gen, but I feel like Chase Elliott must make the playoffs. In 2015, Kyle Busch missed 11 races (Elliott only missed 7) and had to make the top 30 in points. All Elliott has to do is win one single race. I think Elliott is a great driver, but it will be pretty embarrassing if he misses the playoffs.
Exactly what I think.
Elliot will win at The Glen.
Gotta remember kb was still in pain in some of those races to
He just has to go out and win. No pressure. At all.
Turns out that breaking your leg and missing several races because you had to slide down a mountain isn’t the optimal strategy.
So he comes back and presses, because he needs to make up points. When you press, you make mistakes. And so you press some more.
So much so, that he lost his temper and got suspended for a race. Turns out that wrecking other people is a sub-optimal strategy.
So now its down to one race. All or nothing. Can’t count on Daytona. Must win at Watkins Glen.
No pressure. Just go win a cup race. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
Yeah just one is all, that one hasn’t been so easy
Why are we comparing kb and ce when there not near the same elliott is not that great of a driver nothing like his dad was and I don’t understand why everyone thinks he is so great because he is big bills son his dad was a favorite I think chase is a wanna be bill elliott don’t like him yall just idolize him
Eric the nascar classic will be a great thing for us nascar fans in the off season relive some of the good ol days of racing
I think that everyone forgot that Harvick and Keselowski may be in trouble if Allmendinger or Elliott win, or even more drivers. I think we will get a repeat winner in 1 of the races, that’s just obvious, but my gut tells me that this could be a weird year and we will see
Allmendinger and Kaulig are off this year.
Suppose 2 new drivers win.
There are three open spots. Somebody is getting in on points.
Eric states it properly. Kaselowski and Harvick just have to out point the other, but ONLY if there are two new winners.
If there is just 1 repeat winner, Harvick and Kaselowski are in.
Three realistic winner scenarios between WG and Daytona:
1. Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman
2. AJ Allmendinger, Chase Elliott
3. Ty Gibbs, Justin Haley
Harvick or Brad would be if we have two guys outside top 16 win next two races. But not both would miss.
@WhatAboutTheBee This will be a very interesting last 2 races of the regular season
2 Interesting Facts about Road Courses
Till McDowell’s Win at Indy the last time a Ford Driver won a RC was back in *2018* With Ryan Blaney at the roval
Elliott’s Last RC win was back in July 2021 at Road America
I think Elliott has to be the favorite to win this week. RFK has a technical alliance with FRM and that 34 car was a rocket last week. I think Brad is a strong darkhorse to win.
if you look at brad in the Next Gen on road courses, he not only ISNT good, he usually spins, more than once. Meanwhile, Chris Buescher is a STRONG road driver, so i agree that RFK could be fast, but im significantly more confident in Buescher
@JyRyster As much as I like Brad Keselowski, I wouldn’t bet on him winning this upcoming race.
Even tho chase hasn’t won a RC in awhile, I still think he’s been the fastest in the next gen era. Luck just hasn’t been on his side
I have no idea if bubba is making it or not but no matter what i feel that in 23xi fashion the entire team is only gonna start being more consistent after the playoffs start lol
I feel like as long as Watkins Glen doesn’t get cancelled this weekend, Bubba’s gonna need to win at Daytona, or for Chase Elliott to have a very bad day.
I would feel very scared if I was Brad or Kevin.
As much as I don’t like Kevin I still have a heart and I want him to win a race will it be Glen or Dayton no but I do se him winning a playoff race
As a chase Elliott fan I am so confident that he can win he has been so good on the road courses this season and he has gotten progressively better so he is my favorite to win this weekend
How can you not pick Elliott at #1? He should have honestly won the last 4 Watkins Glen races. Him not winning a road course race in the NextGen is way overhyped. Nearly won at the Glen and Road America and got taken out at the Charlotte ROVAL and Indy while in or battling for the lead last year.
Could we get a possible tier list/driver ranking for each type of racetrack (RC, short-track, intermediates, superspeedways)? I feel like I hear so much about how so many people are great road racers, and similarly for superspeedways. Feel like it would help a lot.
It’s crazy to think that this hasn’t been done before. I think it’s a great idea.
I’m gonna be honest, I was just about to give up on Bowman making the playoffs. But last week he proved that it’s possible for him to not have a good day fall apart. Plus, he’s probably got a bit of a fire under him this weekend.
As an Australian, NASCAR is kind of having a renaissance here. It was all the rage when Marcos Ambrose was racing, and I remember the full race highlights being shown over here on 7Mate (Free to Air channel here in Aus) of an afternoon (can’t remember exactly when, whether weekday or weekend, I was only about 10 at the time). SVG heading over there and doing really well has brought back interest in Australia unlike it has been since Marcos was over there. And it is interesting to see people that haven’t cared much since he was over there start to watch it again. And I’m so glad that they show it in Foxtel and Kayo, so I don’t have to pay extra to watch it like I did in 2021.
NASCAR is having a bit of a renaissance in the US too. Ignore the comments from the guys complaining that “it’s not the same” or “bring back old school NASCAR”. The reality is NASCAR is finally starting to increase viewership numbers across the board, tracks are selling more seats, and the general discourse around the series is fairly positive. After so many years of feeling like it was in a freefall, last season and this season feel pretty special.
NASCAR really dropped the ball on this, if they had an actually competent game developer building their franchise of console games, they could have made an amazing “75 Years of Legends” style game where you could pick a year and race against competition from that era, with whatever generation car they had from that era. And sure the arcade game has this vibe, but tying in the Greatest 75 Drivers of NASCAR would have been truly paying tribute to them.
Gibbs running all the way back up from the rear after getting spun under green was super impressive. Can’t help but think he might have something up front if he can make it up there
Interesting update to Auto Club Speedway development Eric: Someone uploaded drone footage from over the track a few months and the track looked 100% intact. As someone who has gone to that track since Fall 2010, it makes me wonder if we’ll even get that short track at all.
I hope demolition is halted as much as possible so we can cherish the track as long as possible
I believe that the future is bright for you to have a career in either radio or television Eric. You have done a great job with your research and presentation with your show progressing over time and I think it’s only a matter of time before nascar comes calling you to come join them and do some broadcasting for them
