NASCAR has been changing itself more and more over the past few years to fit more into the modern day instead of being a sport stuck in 2005. There have been advancements in advertising, broadcast deals, driver activations, and so much more that has been put on the table. Well as of recording this video NASCAR made a huge change not even 24 hours ago that may be huge for the long term health of the sport online. NASCAR has debuted the NASCAR Classics page that has old race replays and old race highlights on it, basically opening it up for all of the world of NASCAR fans to see. Today we are going to dive into why NASCAR just made an amazing choice.

What classic races do you want to see on the new NASCAR Classics page?

I may be a bit biased but I like to see all of the broadcasts from each MRN Classic Race podcast this season, starting with the 1979 Daytona 500.

I’m probably a bit biased but the 2022 Coca-Cola 600

Every race from 2002-2012. It would show newer fans just how good NASCAR racing was at its peak (without (most) gimmicks in place today).

NASCAR only needs to do top 10 lists and moments of driver brilliance like F1 does

Also, shoutout to SMIFF TV for posting several races, satellite or broadcast feed, from the 1970s to today for us to watch for free on his channel.

Also I think as much crap as NASCAR gets as a company they deserve some credit as well for not hitting every uploader with a copyright strike…… I’m saying this because back in the late 2000’s I’d sit down to YouTube and be able to watch not only full races but also full episodes of old school wrestling (Monday night RAW in particular) but those days are LONGGGG gone thanks to WWE…..

Awesome that NASCAR did this. Great move.

I think what would be neat is a DVD/bluray box set of all 75 races, as much as I love this idea I don’t know how long it’s going to last post the 75-year anniversary date

This was a great move on NASCAR’s part

This is one of the best things NASCAR has done in a long, long time. The selection currently up is so good and they’ve even started adding some old Xfinity races as well.

Where are those? I really want nascar to begin uploading some smaller series races, like the goody’s dash series. A similar collection of arca races would also be great.

@Brendan Schuett I could have sworn I saw a couple of Xfinity races. Maybe not.

They need to patrol the Lost Media wiki and give us races thought lost to time. And a mobile app/TV streaming experience. Then, and only then, will this idea be perfect. It might honestly be what brings NASCAR back full force

NASCAR already has a classic races tab on YouTube but there’s so many other classic races that are never talked about at all like:

– 2000 Charlotte fall race
– 2011 Martinsville fall race
– 2009 Atlanta fall race
– 2007 Watkins Glen
– 1999 Daytona 500
– Any 2010 Talladega race
– 2006 Dover spring
– 2010 Atlanta spring
– 2011 Daytona 500
-2007 Watkins Glen
– Any truck race from the late 2000s – early 2010s
– 2003 Sharpie 500

I agree about the truck races, that era was so so good. Really cool looking paint schemes with bright colors, too.

As someone who both watches and collects old NASCAR races, this is like Christmas. NASCAR has made a hugely beneficial decision.

I hope they can put my first races on the platform. My first race was the 2010 Xfinity Spring race at Bristol and my first Cup race was the Night Race later that year. I also hope they can add old shows like Winners, Inside Winston Cup Racing, and classic Race Hub episodes.

Edit: The videos don’t work on Google Chrome. It does work on Safari.

Honestly I’m surprised it took this long, you can literally pick almost any old F1 race on F1TV for years while getting the whole season streamed for free

Even Indycar has been putting up full classic races on their YouTube

This is fantastic. I don’t know why Nascar does not have their own network or internet channel like the NHRA does.

I’ve been watching races on YouTube for years. I would love remastered races so they aren’t so grainy. It’s cool to read about tricks and cheats teams would use and be able to go back and watch those races and see how they did it back then.

yes! as someone from across the atlantic i’ve never been into nascar but i watched the chicago race, had a blast, and have been going through so many of these classic races of late. it’s something i wish more sports would do and it makes it so easy to learn all about nascar’s great drivers, tracks, eras…

I just want them to release full seasons so I can go back and watch an old season and follow the story lines throughout the season.

Indycar puts a bunch of their old races up on their YouTube channel. It’s pretty cool to see these companies embracing their own history.

What I’ve also come to appreciate is NASCAR’s retro radioactives this year. While the title was wrong, the 1976 Michigan radio active was an upload i didn’t expect. Idk how far back radios in this sport go, but it makes you realize how crazy NASCAR’s archive is.

I’d love to see behind the scenes … I’ve love to know more about the back ground of the racing. Like the science of the cars and just even how the teams run. I think that would be really interesting to be honest
