The End Of Motorsport Games?

Visit the New Merch Store Here:

The NASCAR gaming scene has been on life support for years now and the main culprit for it has been none other than Motorsport Games. Motorsport Games has dragged the NASCAR name through the mud with possibly the worst video game and video game launches ever and it only has gotten worse since then. But yesterday respected gaming journalist Mike Straw basically announced that NASCAR and Motorsport Games are done as partners exclusively, that the incompetence has been too much now for NASCAR. So, is this the end of Motorsport Games?

What would you want from an eventual (and hoped good) NASCAR game?

A deep career mode (like thunder 04 or at least like heat 4 or 5) eutechnyx paint booth, retro cars, many race tracks new and old, good ai, and good online play.

Good online with seasons and good career mode with dirt, modified, ARCA, truck, xfinity and cup…free paint scheme updates and updated rosters…as well as old drivers and the potential to run maybe the 2003 season etc would be really cool…and all the tracks they are currently running including like the legendary daytona beach course or some other fantasy courses you could add to the schedule at the beginning of each season…but at the end of the day i want a fun game that the creators care about…we have been screwed when it comes to nascar games since EA stopped making nascar games. Current EA isn’t an option though they are woeful i have to deal with their crap with fifa every year…

Sim-arcade physics (E.g. Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport)

An in-depth career mode, simulating a typical NASCAR season with all of the typical Silly Season shuffling

Different eras of competition (1980s) (Gen 4 1990s) (Gen 4 2000s) (COT 2000s) (Gen 6)

Fantasy tracks (i.e. Lime Rock Park, Chicago Motor Speedway, Fuji Speedway, Spa, Daytona Beach, fictional tracks)

Fantasy cars (i.e. Volkswagen rumor “what-ifs”, modern Dodges, Garage 56)

Pre-race ceremonies (The invocation, singing of the National Anthem, and command to fire engines, recorded from various real-life races)

FOX and NBC commentators providing pre-race, race start, post-race and white flag voice lines (i.e. when you get to the last lap of the race, Mike Joy or Rick Allen says “One lap to go in [race name], sponsored by CreditOne Bank!”)

I remember going to that Daytona race (my first time there) in August 2021. NASCAR 21 Ignition had great eye candy and I got a free t-shirt. Even though I played a demo at Daytona I thankfully I didn’t pre-order the game based on that demo at a plate track.

I just hope IndyCar does the same. As a diehard NASCAR and IndyCar fan, we need a great game for both series to grow the younger fan base.

the SRX game is pretty good. liking the career mode so far and the ability to buy upgrades to your facility and car.

Im getting the feeling that IndyCar will follow suit with NASCAR ending an exclusive licensing agreement, too. I think bigger things are to come from this. Possibly, even lawsuits by MSG shareholders for not holding some fiduciary duties.

No they won’t. Indycar is too stupid and they’ve already passed several more opportune opportunities.

I wish maybe nascar could team up with turn 10 studios and make a nascar dlc for the next forza motorsport game yes I know people have problems with forza but in all honesty they one of the oldest racing games and have a good foundation for younger fans so I think it will be a good idea because I myself have been trying to do a nascar series on forza because forza was alot better then the nascar games

And so, the quest for a new developer begins.

Part of me kinda hoped the source code for 21’ would’ve been leaked as I’d be interested to see what the modding community could do to improve the game.

3:34 Amen, brother. Exclusive licenses mean that developers can put out mediocre products year after years since there is no competition. EA is the worst of these with Madden and FIFA (now EA Sports FC), but 2K has also grown complacent with their NBA 2K games now that NBA Live is basically dead. It’s a shame that this is the case since leagues like the NFL and NBA at the very least could definitely support multiple games going head to head. Imagine telling a gamer 20 years ago that they were living in the golden age of sports gaming and that their games from the early-mid 2000s would have more depth and features than games released 20 years later on far superior hardware.

Package iracing’s nascar section and release it on console for $70. Have codemasters do a simcade.

i just play heat 5 and nr2003, the ai can comprehend not just following the line like ignition and i actually have pretty fun battles time to time but ignition 21 ruined nascar’s gaming reputation
