To have your steering wheel come off during a high speed race is one of the worst things that can happen but this guys thinking is of the frickin charts
There are so many things wrong with this…
1: Michigan is NASCAR’s fastest track, not Talladega.
2: This happened under caution, not while he was racing.
3: This has happened before.

Jr took the wheel
Junior take the wheel
Take it from my hands
‘Cause I can’t do this on my own
Wow major props my man great job and that is crazy
I remembered watching that race live. I was stunned that Dale Jr. was able to steer the car with his hand long enough to reattach the wheel.
It was under the caution flag, running around 65mph, scary and dangerous, but not what you’re making it out to be.
Even at a caution speed it still can be very dangerous sure not as Dangerous at green flag conditions
Steve Park had it happen under caution and it ruined his career
@ducky29 what race did this happen in?
@Yukiko Sugami2001 Darlington Fall busch series race
Never happened before? What about his team mate Steve Park at Darlington?
Never happened in nascar…..
Steve park almost got killed because his steering wheel came off.
“Never happened in Nascar before” Yeah tell that to Steve Park
Could be wrong (heard this a long time ago) but didn’t Ted Chamberlain run an entire race with no steering wheel back in the 50s?
I would like that never happen to me lol

I was at this race and had no idea it happened until I got home a few days later
Dale Jr got a penalty for this
For an equipment malfunction?
@RandomCub yea it was really stupid but it’s true
I think there was some guy back in the post-war days of nascar that won a race using the steering column in the final laps
You need some strength to steer without the wheel
He’s actually done that before I’m pretty sure. I think he did it at Charlotte
