Real life mooncar 24 hours of Martinsville?
NASCAR stole from Mooncar.
that’s what junior was eluding to when he said “we’ve seen the excitement of this, in the virtual world”. S/O Moonhead
It would be cool to watch Dale Jr test driving these cars
Theres in car of it on YouTube
Cool, would like to see some footage of him testing it.
An MX-5 oval feeder series would be so much fun to watch! I feel like it could bring more international drivers into the sport.
I like that idea!
How about nooo lol
It could almost replace arca
@Sanok Maynik it would have more integrity than arca lol
agree with jr 100% that the imsa mx5 cup should be a support series for nascar
AWESOME Analysis — DO iT !
… make it happen !!!
Love my Turbo MX-5, throw Dale Jr. in one full time and you’ve got a winning combination right there!
Those that have never heard of these spec series, should YouTube the races, they are awesome.
Mazda MX5 Cup Series
MX-5 class has been the best race of the weekend every event I’ve seen them at. Tight fields of slow cars going fast.
Production Car Challenge series in iRacing had participant voting for the schedule and we got ovals through a few times. MX-5 and Solstice at Lakeland was goat’d
I think this has to be the first time ever that Dale Jr. not drive a Chevy/GM car.
Not the first time, I believe.
There’s one time when he drove Ford late model for Bobby Hamilton’s team, which resembled the Petty Blue No.43.
However, the 4 was taped over to leave just the 3.
I would drive from SC just to see this! I’ve been to MX-5 Cup races at Daytona (for the 24hr race) and at Road Atlanta (for Petit Le Mans). Let’s see what the normal MX-5 Cup field can do here with maybe a few NASCAR drivers mixed in!
Edit: I would keep the MX-5 Cup cars to making appearances at short tracks, road courses, and street circuits for safety reasons. There have been some nasty crashes over the years but thankfully it’s been at speeds where the chance of serious harm is reduced. Those roll cages are built tough, but they were never meant to go faster than the Daytona Roval!
I watched the MX-5 races at Daytona road course & Tampa street course that Indycar runs. Very good racing.
Man! It’s awesome to see Jr. explaining all of this.
This isn’t the crossover I was expecting, but I’m all here for it being a nascar fan who drives a mk3 Miata
Interesting idea- but I would rather see them racing down the highway at VIR like they will be doing this weekend.
If you think this is nuts, watch the MX-5 Cup races at Daytona. It’s the road course, but they’re still bump drafting and rubbing, the cars are momentum racers so they race hard and close and it’s always wild. They’re crazy fun wherever they go, Martinsville would be a blast.
As a 1992 Miata owner, this makes me very excited!
Can we all agree, Dales doing more to advance the sport than any driver of the last 20 years?
