1:03 what a 2 weeks it has been for the Clayton Hughes fanclub. We get to hear him say ‘stage winner’ again for the first time in half a decade!

Still not as catchy as it is with Martin Truex Jr. though. “Stage winner MTJ” will always be the classic catchphrase in NASCAR.

Man, if McDowell hadn’t have those penalties. He could won stage 2, might not have won the race, but definitely would have capitalized on playoff points.

Good point he and Byron were the class of the field

WilliamAyersReacts August 22, 2023 at 11:47 pm

@Thedude1983 Yes, I think McDowell might provide a shock factor in the playoffs, Byron might be the class of the playoffs now, but who knows what will happen?

I don’t know, I think McDowell could have won. Byron had nothing for him in Stage 1.. if not for that, he could have won.

I don’t think he would’ve won the race either way since his motor blew, the lap before he came to pits when he passed me from where I was sitting in the grand stands his engine was not sounding good

@sharkk127  I agree with that point. I think the playoffs could be very interesting this year, considering some of the drivers in it.

Nice to see the 24 as the winningest car of the season again.

Very irresponsible of the crew to let Chase Elliott run out of fuel

Reply
Taylor Grace August 23, 2023 at 1:35 am

It’s also irresponsible for him to think he can run 3 laps on the switch the driver should know that

Reply
mike Grey August 23, 2023 at 2:32 am

@Taylor Gracethe crew chief is the one with all the data though so he should have been able to know he couldn’t make it

Not sure what’s up with Larson. That was just a silly move. And not long ago he was complaining about Denny. Yet he races like that.

Luanne Nickerson August 23, 2023 at 4:39 am

Kind of silly for all the people on here not realizing it was Lajoie who wrecked both Larson and Dillon. You all must be blind.

Weird to hear Clayton Hughes say “stage winner Mr. McDowell” instead of “MTJ”

Austin Dillon sure seems to be involved in a lot of these incidents.

Reply
Luanne Nickerson August 23, 2023 at 4:38 am

True, but that one was Lajoie’s fault.

Timmy Pilkerton August 23, 2023 at 2:24 pm

He is not a very good race car driver. He totally crashed the 10 to win Daytona a few years back I’ve had no respect for him since then

YouGetNoBitches August 23, 2023 at 3:47 pm

@Luanne Nickersonno how would it be Lojoie, Larson just got revenge on bro

Reply
sharkk12 August 23, 2023 at 4:32 am

I was at this race on the front stretch grandstands, seeing elliot run out of fuel put a smile on my face, also, what the hell was Larson doing on the last lap, he spun my favorite drivers teammate out for literally no reason

Reply
Luanne Nickerson August 23, 2023 at 4:37 am

Get glasses. Lajoie wrecked out both Larson and Dillon.

Reply
sharkk12 August 23, 2023 at 4:41 am

@Luanne Nickerson wait really? I didn’t notice, I was at the part of the grandstands where the last turn was blocked by the damn Bridge

This race was amazing wish it wasn’t as spread out but overall it was a great race. If McDowell didn’t get a pentaly he more than likely would have won that race.
