Awesome story of personal strength. I hope I have that much strength when my dads time comes. Thanks Dale
Honestly this is one of my earliest memories of Nascar. I’m 25 so I was just a toddler but my older brother was a big Dale Sr. fan and to see his elation watching Jr. weave in and out of the pack to get to first will always hold a special place in my heart. For me, this is the greatest sports story ever written and the greatest race that I ever witnessed.
Same here man!
The most emotional moment in NASCAR History!!!
That call by Allen Bestwick.
Daytona is my favorite place on earth
Nascar was never the same to me after Sr passed. That was my driver! I still tried carrying on and watching as a Jr fan, and there were some highlights, but it just wasn’t the same. Nascar, coming to Chicago this year, reignited my love for Nascar, and I’m here for it!
You know i just realized something….Jr loses his dad at that track he goes back wearing the same sort of helmet….no HANS device of any sort no safer barriers the car has the same aero package that Sr said was gonna get somebody hurt or worse….basically all the conditions that took Dale Sr….He is able to over come all that mentally (i wonder if he even thought about it) and wins the race…..its a mighty incredible feat
