I’ll be honest, Eric. I have no words for tomorrow. It’s Daytona. Anyone can win there nowadays. I’ll just hope that a fan favorite driver finds their way to the front and wins.
Sticking Daytona as the regular season finale is absolute genius by NASCAR, so many storylines, like who is Denny going to push between Ty and Bubba
Lots of Chevy teams are still on the outside looking in like Kaulig Racing and Austin Dillon, Legacy Motor Club and Daniel Suarez, the battle for stage points and pushing will also be intense…
Well done by NASCAR
Its finally looking like the night race will actually happen as well (no rain cancellations like last year). I love Daytona under the lights. It could possibly be one of the wildest night races there with how many drivers want to get in. If they rim ride for 159 laps I’ll be really disappointed, no way they can wait until the end this time.
At this point, I think I can honestly say it’d be easier to predict Denny Hamlin’s Cup Series future than tomorrow night’s race. LOL
With all the chaos happening silly season-wise, it’s no surprise that Denny would rather work with a car that he’s invested his money in. Something like this is going to really make think hard about his upcoming off season decisions.
Since I feel it’ll be easier to predict Denny Hamlin’s future, I’m going to make what you might call a extremely bold prediction here, and you can laugh at me next season if/when I’m completely wrong, but here goes:
Like I said, Denny is going to seriously consider his team’s future after this race. Over the next few weeks/months, he’s going to start by investing 100% in it. First, he’s going to go shopping for a charter, maybe 2, but I’m gonna just say 1 for now. He’ll most likely wait and see what the TV/charter future looks like before 100% committing to this, but if that goes well (and don’t be surprised if you see reports or rumors of him doing this beforehand), he’s going to go to Tony Stewart and Gene Haas first since they’re in trouble (Harvick is retiring and the 4 is losing Busch as a sponsor, while Almirola is also probably done after this year and the 10 will most likely be without Smithfield sponsorship). Once he’s confident about his investment not being wasted on a charter that will be worthless, Denny is going to pull a Trackhouse and make them an offer they can’t refuse for at least one of those charters (I think Trackhouse will be calling about that second charter for SVG), then announce he’s moving over to his own team to drive the…what’s a MJ number they haven’t used yet…12? Crud…uh…..let’s go with 66 (Michael Jordan is 6 ft 6 in. and Denny’s rookie season was 2006)? He will also announce a switch to Ford for his team, becoming one of the new top Ford teams in Cup. It may take them a year or so to adjust, but Denny is all in on this.
Not going into tomorrow night with any expectations.. Honestly, as a Ty fan, to even have a shot at a playoff spot here is already a successful rookie season
I think that this race will be by far the most important in Bubbas career. Not for proving he’s a good driver, or proving his worth to the team (he’s done those things) but potentially getting a lot of the hesitant fans and fans in denial on either his side or neutral ground with his reputation in the sport.
I have a feeling that Denny will push the car that he owns rather than his teammate, on top of that he knows that Ty has a bit of a /reputation/ lets say, meanwhile Bubba’s reputation is less about his actions on the track and more about his skin color and some random actions that he has done, TLDR: Denny will push the 23
Of course Denny would push the 23! He could probably be less forward about it, but Denny is known for his honesty, not so much his tactfulness, perhaps even to a fault… 🙂 So pumped for tonight!!!

Todd Gilliland winning would feed families
Would be one of the biggest upsets and Im here for it! Especially since I enjoyed watching his Dad race and got to meet him as a kid
I really want Gilliland, Jones or LaJoie to win
FACTS. Really any Ford tho. Logano, Keselowski, Harvick, Briscoe, Almirola, Blaney, etc. As long as a blue oval ends up in victory lane I’ll be happy
@Scout22 thats cool i just want a good race first then one of my fav drivers to win #1,#5,#6, #8 or #22 == my big fav #22
I know it’s unlikely but I hope to see Elliott and Bowman 1-2 on the final lap battling each other for the win like the 2019 GEICO 500 at Talladega.

Kyle Busch wins, Wallace finishes sixth, and locks himself in on points.
It’s cool you get to see such a big race. Have a good weekend.

that is as good as anyone elses statement

not a fan of JGR or toyota but i agree!!! a major great year kid can drive
Exactly it’s house money at this point in my opinion . Ty’s had a good year already
I wonder how the owners talk in these meetings… how does Marks communicate with Hendrick seeing how they both have drivers out of the playoffs.
Have we forgotten that the 11 team is only -14 points behind in the owners standings?
AJ absolutely LOVES superspeedway racing 😉 Hope he is getting in nevertheless

Bubba’s rep will forever be tainted by Noosegate.

Nice job getting the scoop! You were a true primary source in this one, and I’m so for it.
I want to see a underdog win Daytona ! Maybe TY GIBBS !
thank you Eric for doing what you do, lets go racin’!!!!!!
