That was a violent hit. That’s 2 this year
That reminded me a lot of Earnhardt’s crash in 01’. We are really lucky the cars are safer now. Twenty years ago that would have ended a career.
We see a lot of wrecks like Dale Earnhardts these days. If there is only one good thing that came out of his wreck, it was safer barriers and neck restraints.
The main reason Dale died from his wreck is because he didn’t have in any saftey items

Blaney should be out next few weeks..doctors wont clear him to race…guarenteed. That was a hard hit
Thankfully he’s alive and walking around, but he looks dazed and stumbled his words a few times. Seemed kinda similar to when Gragson got hurt.
I hope this isn’t the case, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out the next race(s) with a concussion.
I don’t think it will deteriorate his performance, but he is stunned. I definitely think Blaney can win a championship in the future but that was wicked.
2 Ryans crashed in the same race. Daytona is brutal.

its good they took some reinforcing braces out of the front & rear of the cars a while back.had they not, that couldve been a big jar to ryans brain.he hit the wall a hell of alot harder than kurt busch did.& kurt never recovered 100%.
SAFER barriers saved him
But always remember rule number 2 of stock car racing…if there’s a place on a racetrack without a protective barrier (tires, styrofoam, or SAFER), a driver will find it!

0:49 his helmet comes forward and bounces off his steering wheel. 20 years ago and we would be paying our tributes here. I’m glad he’s okay.
