HOLY COW Ryan Preece hope you are ok from that.

That crash was similar to Elliott Sadler back in the day

There was a driver in the early 1980’s, Bruce Jacobi, that died in a crash that was exactly what Ryan Preece’s crash was. Thank God that Ryan Preece is okay and alert. That was scary.

A testament to how safe these cars are now.Not long ago this might have been fatal.Reminds me of Rusty Wallace flip.Glad he’s ok

Boy that’s the first time we’ve seen a next-gen car flip like this. Hope Preece is alright.

Reply

Probably worse than anything the COT and Gen6 were tested by.

Reply
D2RCR August 27, 2023 at 2:45 am

@DaytonaPrototypesProbably have to go back to Elliott Sadler in 2003 and 2004, and that’s Gen 4 era.

@D2RCRyeah that I remember

Pieces stayed on it, not coming off and dissipating energy and reducing mass. Glad he got out on his own, definitely rung his bell, hope he checks out okay at the hospital and goes home to his family asap

Reply
D2RCR August 27, 2023 at 2:35 am

I still can’t believe he got out of that car. I just hope he’s all right, that was one of the most violent flips I’ve ever seen.

Reply
RCR August 27, 2023 at 2:52 am

Glad he was out but preece is definitely concussed. He got transported to the hospital

Reply
D2RCR August 27, 2023 at 2:54 am

@RCR Just saw. He needs some extensive testing, there’s no way he isn’t concussed after that.

Dice Guy August 27, 2023 at 3:02 am

Yeah worst flip I’ve seen live and maybe in my entire lifetime.

@Dice GuyWhat about Chris Buescher’s flip during last year’s Coke 600?

@Superdragonthat was not as bad

Welcome to the flip club Ryan Preece.

That was one of the most wildest flips Ive seen for quite a while, looked like something out of BeamNG. Hope Preece will be ok, but he was on his feet after getting out of the car.

Reply
Bparks_509 August 27, 2023 at 3:29 am

Agreed, BeamNG immediately came to mind for as well. The sheer speed of the flips didn’t even look like real life!

Reply
Far and Wide August 27, 2023 at 3:49 am

Yeah I also thought of BeamNG. Just a weird looking flip like you get when you use sticky Drag tires or something. Now I have a BeamNG itch I gotta go scratch. Haven’t played in a while lol.

Reply
poo fimbly August 27, 2023 at 2:22 pm

Some people count his NEAR flip in 2020 at Kansas.. but we all know that wasnt a flip.

Reply
skylinesnerd August 27, 2023 at 3:14 pm

yeah you could do that in beamng

Reply
Bird August 27, 2023 at 2:37 am

This is more crazy than most flips in the 90s. This might be the highest barrell roll in NASCAR history.

Reply
Justin G August 27, 2023 at 2:38 am

That flip scared the hell out of me. I never been so happier to see a guy climb out his car. I hope he okay. I don’t even care who wins the race. Screw the winner. I just hope Ryan preece okay.

No matter what NASCAR does, Daytona and Talladega will always find a way to send cars flying

Reply
360ed August 27, 2023 at 2:42 am

man that was horrifying. haven’t seen a flip like that in well over 2 decades

Reply
That Guy August 27, 2023 at 2:49 am

I’ve been a NASCAR fan since 1990, and this latest flip is by far the most jaw-dropping I’ve ever witnessed. Sadly, much like the 2020 Daytona 500 is etched in memory for Ryan Newman’s terrible crash, this race will likely be defined by this shocking accident. What caught my attention were how the window net unbuckled and the roof hatch opened mid-flip; I’m interested to see how NASCAR addresses these safety concerns.

Reply
Garratte The wise August 27, 2023 at 2:51 am

That was the most nervous I’ve been since Ryan Newman in 2020. When I say the roof hatch come off the top of the car my heart sank. Hope Preece is alright.

PenguinzzzGeo August 27, 2023 at 3:39 am

Same, bro.
Thus was me each flip:

2023:OH no! I hope he’s ok
2020: Ummm….. What just happened?

Reply
Kizerain GD August 27, 2023 at 2:53 am

The amount of G’s behind that had to have been so high. Hope he’s ok. I thought Perkins’ flip was gonna be the worst but I have officially been proven wrong.

RACINGUS95 August 27, 2023 at 2:57 am

I’ve seen many brutal crashes in my time as a Motorsports fan, but never have I ever seen a crash with this level of violence in my life.

The amount of relief that washed over me when Preece got out of that junk pile was almost overwhelming. I honestly didn’t even care who won the race at that point. Preece’s safety was the most important thing to me in that moment. So glad that he’s ok.

Reply
Dice Guy August 27, 2023 at 3:03 am

Yeah, I’m a diehard Elliott fan since 2017 and I’m not even that mad he missed the playoffs, just hoping Preece is fine.
