Eric is so insightful and makes it easy for me to keep up w news and stuff during my busy schedule
Glad my videos can be of service 🙂
For real, he’s my #1 source for NASCAR news
@Christian London same for me. I watch all Eric’s videos.
Hey Eric! #outofthecrowd question: wouldn’t there be a ‘Legacy Motor Club like’ session for at least one team every year? because everyone (even teams like RWR) are trying to be competitive nowadays, and there always has to be someone who is last in points.
With how close teams are getting, this has to be the case. Maybe not the top 3-4 teams, but I bet we’ll start to see some churn and rotation between the second and third tier teams, which is healthy
Yeah, I could see some 3-4 star team like kauilig or shr doing what legacy Motor Club is doing this year.
The last Dale Sr era driver is gone! Thanks for the memories Kurt! Hopefully, you’ll be able to make a comeback in racing somehow, someday. Rest easy.
Wrong, Ryan Newman.
@Phoebe Eileen Brooks did he race with Dale in cup well actually he did run one race in 2000
@AJ the Nascar expert he ran multiple races in 2000 when he replaced Chad Little at Roush towards the end of the season
@Phoebe Eileen Brooks I almost forgot about Newman, but since he technically stopped running full time in 2021, I won’t count it.
@cadillacjohn1994 ahh good point
Something that doesn’t get talked about enough with Kurt Busch is that he was the driver that proved Furniture Row Racing could be a competitive race team. He was the driver that ran up front with them before MTJ and he got that car into the 12 man playoffs in 2013. (wait I’m sorry 13 man playoffs that year. Silly me. I forgort lol)
I know Kurt Busch had more highlights but that year in 2013 will be the year where I was the most impressed with him.
Also 2311.
And without Cole Pearn too!
Eric, you are the man! Thanks for all the updates you provide!
Kurt is highly respected, loved and will be back in a different capacity!
Safety is a real concern, but there’s going to be a point where NASCAR will need to accept that racing is dangerous and it’s simply not possible to account for every single incident.
Exactly my thoughts. Besides the roof hatch opening up, I thought preeces car held up really well for a flip that violent.
It is isn’t “NASCAR” that needs to acknowledge it — it’s the “fans.”
@Chuck the brindle pittie The fans don’t have any control over NASCAR taking the car back for testing and safety reviews.
Kurt’s career can be described in one word. Consistency. He won or came close with every team he raced for, made them competitive and proved that he always can define A team into a solid team. No matter who he drove for, no matter the car, manufacturer, or people he worked with, he created greatness. Kurt will be missed by everyone and will forever be known as one of the most rock solid drivers ever. See you in the booth Kurt!

@shmeeve thx
Just an hour or two before his last race, I was lucky enough to meet Kurt. He was so genuine and hearing his experiences and how he worked with his teams was so awesome, and it honestly made me a fan of his! I’m super sad about his announcement, but I think that he will do great things for 23XI, and I’m excited that he’ll still be around!
One thing about Kurt Bush’s career that came to mind when he joined 23XI. Is that he’s the biggest name, perhaps the only driver that drove for all 4 Cup series manufacturers in the 21st century.
He’s in the same boat Kasey Kahne is, 4 out of the 5 manufacturers in the 21st century
Unfortunately Pontiac didn’t last, but I’m sure Finch or Furniture Row would have started out with them.
@usm0506?FRR & finch were both Chevy
He also won races with each of those 4 manufacturers.
@KyleLeeuw I know. I’m just saying considering how low on the Chevy totem pole they were, if Pontiac was an option, that’s where they would have been
Very reminiscent of both rusty Wallace flips in 1993. It’s crazy to see something like that again. Also, preece has had multiple incredible crashes. His head on flat out hit in the 37 car is one of those.
I think you can tie Bubba Wallace’s improvement as well as 23xi’s incredible rise into competitive levels in every single race.
Able to get out on his own power
One thing of at least some confort is that Kurt went out while still competative. It’s a shame that it ended the way it did, but at least he went out while driving for a good team and was still winning. I wish he could have had a farewell race or season, but I’m happy he still went out winning
Yeah, unlike Jimmie Johnson, Darrell Waltrip and Richard Petty
I used to hate Kurt tbh but his redemption story is one of the best in all of motorsports him going to Phoenix then furniture row was obviously humbling and a giant turnaround for him and his consistency of improving every raceteam he joined from then on from ganassi to shr he improved every team he touched. It sucks when someone was ripped out when he wasn’t quite done yet and not on his terms. Kurt may you continue to improve 23XI and any raceteam you may join in the future as an advisor you’ll indeed be an asset in developing drivers.
Kurt Bush was a hell of a wheel man that knew what he needed to win!! Kurt definitely will be in the hall of Fame in the next 5 years .
Just a small correction: Kurt Busch’s rookie season was in 2001. While he did get 3 Top 5’s, 6 Top 10’s, it was overall a struggling year for him with a 27th place points finish. Thankfully he did bounce back in 2002, but it did leave many at the time questioning if he was rushed to Cup too quickly.
I watched him win at Richmond a few springs ago. Class act, outstanding driver and just a good guy. Clean racer, great attitude. I will miss watching Kurt drive a Cup car. I wish him all the best in years to come.
Eric once again is very insightful. Totally agree w/ Kurt’s ability to make every team he’s gone to better.. That’s a pretty cool legacy , u don’t necessarily need to win a gazillion championships to be impactful an glad to hear he’s gonna still be involved
We were all holding onto hope that Kurt wouldn’t “retire” until he could give his fans a farewell race… But we also know concussions have long recovery times. It was a sad day to see his retirement video… But he’s definitely a future Hall of Famer!
