That crash was so similar to Elliott Sadler from back in the day glad Ryan preece is ok after that.
How did it resemble Elliott crash he blew over almost two times and barrel rolled coming on and off the banking of turn 3 preece did a a blowover and hit the grass and flipped wildly not being rude or anything but they were entirely different
It was a mirror to Darrell Waltrip’s Wreck in 1991 Pepsi 400
Just everyone needs to stop comparing it and just say this was ryan preeces horrifying crash stop comparing it to others it takes so much more meaning away from the crash comparing it to another ryan preece has a generational crash that we won’t see for along time and that’s how it should be known it shouldn’t be compared to others wrecks
@Jordan Vanderheydenit’s the amount of air Preece caught compared to Sadler. It’s pretty comparable on that front….
Right in front of my trailer it was truly horrifying from that angle wish i recoreded it love that hes ok
Ryan Preece should’ve drive the 47 car
Im wondering of if that would be simiular to ken schraiders ’95 talladega flip
i am glad he is ok but now nascar needs to find ways to prevent this from happing again
the best the best thing to do here imo is give daytona the charlotte treatment. without that grass that crash wouldn’t have been nearly as violent as it was. and that’s a much more achievable goal than stopping blowovers bc you’re never gonna stop cars getting airborne at these speeds
theres only so much you can do, its impossible to account for every possible scenario. even F1 still has moments like this
@Iamnothuman77 #DARTDONTLIE the problem with that is you’d have crashes similar to that of chris buescher at charlotte last year but instead of 60 or so mph it’d be 160+ mph
@Gort yeah asphalt would be ideal but turf would be a huge improvement
@Iamnothuman77 #DARTDONTLIE no it wouldnt, cause if the cars suspension breaks like bueschers did last year its going for a ride… did you even read my message? besides, even if there was astro turf it still probably would have upset the car causing it to go over, in fact it would be even worse to barrel roll on because whats under astro turf? fucking *concrete*
When I saw the replay I thought, “Is this 1980 or 2023???” Got me up the whole night questioning my sanity
NASCAR did a great job with safety, but they’re also fortunate the car didn’t forcibly land chassis first on the concrete…we all see when these guys have flat tires, you can imagine what that impact would have been like…. the car still has some very vulnerable spots.
The real answer is taking those restrictor plates and throwing them in dumpster.
And add more horsepower with more speed that’s what the restrictor plate is doing is limiting speed and horsepower that wreck would have been worse without it
@Gapomusa not true
Without bunched up pack racing that wreck wouldn’t happen in the first place. Besides several other tracks have higher top speeds than Daytona and the drivers aren’t dying from crashes at those tracks.
I’m happy he is okay
So when is he going to talk? I’m eager to hear from Ryan.
Pave all of the back stretch.
Will he be racing this weekend
That’s a good question. Hope he’s ok! That was one hell of a wreck!
Bro needed a parachute like drag racers.
I’m gonna reiterate what the 41 team said over the radio after Preece got out of the car: they’re gonna kill somebody at one of these events. They’re not wrong either. The Next Gen car is so bad from a safety perspective and yet the most important thing in NASCAR’s mind is chaos and headlines, courtesy of the championship format as well as other gimmicks. Preece is okay, but it won’t be long until someone is unable to step out of this car after a crash and that day is coming soon. I cannot believe how far back the Next Gen car has set safety standards, NASCAR has become incredibly complacent.
I give NASCAR an A+ for making these cars a bit more safer. You just have no idea of what the car would do the next time it flips.
