Darlington rolling right into Kansas is an amazing stretch of the schedule.

Plus Bristol after… (the real Bristol) -might be the best 3 week stretch of the year !

Agreed!

Agreed I love the new Kansas drives with all the line’s you can run

I think the 45 is going to win Kansas or the 17

Bells Crew still having issues even after the swap is very very concerning, Going from a bottom 20 crew, to a top 3 crew and still having slow stops, and mistakes could be a sign of maybe a bigger issue with that team.

Jgr pit crews seem to always suck when it counts

This race has proved it I think that rfk has the potential to put 2 cars in the round of 8 and maybe 1 in the championship race

Reply
Gary Kennedy September 4, 2023 at 7:40 am

To me it proved the potential is there for 2 rfk cars in the final 4 and 2 HMS

Also I hope Carson Hocevar is the surprise choice for Kaulig after tonight

Quick turn around for a video, impressive as always. Wish Byron could’ve made the last lap pass for 3rd but it’s not a bad start. Love the content brother <3

Yeah he didnt force the issue there. No point of racing # 17 hard and possibly wrecking, loosing points. He ran a smart race. He is a clean racer in my opinion.

My first ever nascar race I got to attend as a life Long fan man you weren’t kidding what a experience it was!

Reply
DSHalfDemon September 4, 2023 at 11:42 am

Congrats! Glad you enjoyed it! My first cup race was in 1998 and man the fan experience then was so different then it is now. But the racing is still racing and that’s the whole point!

Awesome to see people still excited for their first race!

Harvick needs a win!

Carson Hocevar seems to have some genuine raw talent. As long as he continues to drive cleanly, no doubt he’ll be a fantastic driver in the future.

Reply
Mike September 4, 2023 at 7:22 am

Hocevar is an absolute shoe. Pit crew was on fire as well

Reply
S D September 4, 2023 at 9:49 am

He will be in the 31 maybe next year not the 42 cause of the car switch

@Mystic Hoboit’s a racing term that means talented

That bonehead move of Reddick is up there with Martin at Bristol a lap too early. Absolutely asinine to think that you can downshift, (Jimmy) jam on the brakes – in the racing line exiting a corner, and turn left with less than 200 yards and make it to pit road…. PROPS to Newman for not running over Reddick, because I would’ve!

Reply
Robert Stone September 4, 2023 at 11:24 am

Almost as bone head as the blocks thrown by the 48. If I was Daniel I’d bust his nose for him.

AllaboutheWaves September 4, 2023 at 2:53 pm

Somebody did that a few years ago in a previous Southern 500 and wrecked a few guys in the top 10. I forget who it was but it was dumb that night too.

This is what I’d like to call a “night” and “day” race. The metaphor fits perfectly the bouts of calm and chaos, tenseness and normalness. Poor Harvick deserved no less than a top 5.

Reply
The Snapperhead September 4, 2023 at 11:56 am

To bad Harvick has the worst crew chief in the garage

Reply
The Snapperhead September 4, 2023 at 5:37 pm

@ThatOneRacingNerd that was on Reddick

Reply
Dillon Blackwood September 4, 2023 at 6:49 am

Good to see Newman is still hard to pass ❤

Lol. Who let that geriatric back on track? Honest question.

Reply
Jack Shafto September 4, 2023 at 11:20 am

I wanted to see him punch Reddick for stopping in the groove.

Reply
Jackson Robison September 4, 2023 at 12:50 pm

Me too

Reply
Jackson Robison September 4, 2023 at 12:50 pm

It’s fun to watch him in the 51

Reply
Lane Strawder September 4, 2023 at 6:50 am

It’s great being a 5 fan. He races so hard and makes you so nervous. The king of the high line. We love a close finish, but most of Larson’s wins are completely undeniable by the time he crosses the finish line.

Reply
Jeannie G. September 4, 2023 at 11:52 am

I was kind of freaking out too.

Love larson cuz he’s a beast

Reply
Five Speed September 4, 2023 at 7:27 am

Man, that camera on the back of Reddick’s car. The one facing forward, showing him chasing Larson those last laps, both just inches off the wall, was F’n sick. God, I love Darlington. The Southern 500 is such an awesome race

Reply
David S September 4, 2023 at 11:02 am

It was slowing him down I kept saying lol

Reply

The camera also showed that butiful paint scheme

Reply
Dwayne Meilleur September 4, 2023 at 2:08 pm

Reddick shouldn’t have been battling anybody after the brain dead move he made…should have been at the back of the pack….if you do something this stupid and cause a caution you should go to the back…Nascar needs to look at this rule

Reply
Thomas Redden September 4, 2023 at 8:12 am

Bubba just has to start confident and not be so hard on himself, he did an amazing job of keeping his head down and grinding to finish just outside the top 5. I’m so happy to see him perform so well and I have full confidence he will get out of this round. Go get ‘em bw!!

Both 23XI Racing cars were the only Toyotas inside the Top 10… Really inside the Top 15

Reply

I’m so excited for Kansas. Easily his best track and going in with a lot of momentum.

Reply
Jackson Robison September 4, 2023 at 12:50 pm

I think if he doesn’t win at Kansas he’s going to be out the next week after that at Bristol

Reply
Anthony Barber September 4, 2023 at 1:47 pm

He’s heading into honestly his best weekend, so he needs to put the pressure off of him.

Reply

fun fact: Carson Hocevar finished ahead of ALL of the JGR drivers

crazy.

Reply
DC322 September 4, 2023 at 3:02 pm

Yeah. He will be at Kansas and Bristol. Hopefully, he will run good.

Reply
Daniel Block September 4, 2023 at 3:23 pm

That was a good run for Carson hocevar 17th and in the lead lap that maybe the best finish for the 42 all year.

Reply
Brandan Hall September 4, 2023 at 4:17 pm

@DC322500 laps at Bristol will be a true test

Reply
Andy Harman September 4, 2023 at 9:14 am

I felt really bad for Harvick, who was making a masterful drive. Reddick made a dumb move, and Harvick got penalized for it.

Reply
Thain White September 4, 2023 at 1:53 pm

I’m wondering if harvick was looking at his dash and Rodney was maybe talking to the crew how soon does nascar tell them if they didn’t make pit road?

Reply
Hangmann747 Tinmann September 4, 2023 at 3:08 pm

Considering the pass they gave to Brad K last week, they should have given Harvick a pass as well. Reddick should have been the one penalized.

Reply
jackcrat September 4, 2023 at 4:03 pm

I wonder if harvick has these things called eyes. If not maybe he should get some because that could help him get better at seeing a car spinning and still continue to go down pit road. And why would Reddick get penalized for trying to get to pit road?

Reply
Bsed94 September 4, 2023 at 5:05 pm

@jackcrat clearly you don’t understand pit entry, harvicks last look at the track was in turn 3. He was beyond committed he had 3 options. Do what he did, run through pit lane and pit from about 12th or have a commitment line violation.

Reddick caused a wreck and I really think it’s time that nascar starts sending everyone involved in a wreck to the rear after the caution. He didn’t deserve a 2nd place race after ruining 2 others

StevenP727 September 4, 2023 at 10:47 am

RFK has really really impressed me especially Chris Buescher

Reply
DC322 September 4, 2023 at 3:03 pm

I thought he was going to overtake Reddick during the last 10 laps of the race but finished P3.

Reply
StevenP727 September 4, 2023 at 4:42 pm

@DC322 I thought so too but with it being hard to pass he was stuck, either race clean or take him out to pass, hopefully nascar will make adjustments to make the cars easier to pass

Reply
Ryan Webb September 4, 2023 at 11:14 am

I feel Kevin’s team also had other chances to limit the damage by not pitting on one of those late race cautions and regaining track position, but for some reason chose to pit every time, staying back in the 20s.

Bear Marsh September 4, 2023 at 1:39 pm

Congrats to Kyle Larson and the 5 team on winning a crazy Southern 500. One down and nine to go off to Kansas. Groovy gage 80%.
