Also some team instead of having to pull on the skirt, would use a material for the skirt corner that would bend when it got hot from the exhaust pipe. That’s why some teams still had curved skirts even after NASCAR clamped down on the pit member bending it during a pitstop
It’s like the big wing on the back of F1 cars. They can’t go as fast on straight aways, but it generates more downforce which increases the lateral friction force and lets them drive faster on a curve of a given radius.
Nah half of Nascar is turning the other half is pedal to the metal need the downforce to hit the turn as fast as possible while maintaining traction. I presume most Nascar engines rarely hit their flat out max speed minus a few tracks like talladega which was designed to be fast and basically forced the adoption of restrictor plates to reduce engine power.

Hello
In 2019 or 2020 at michigan i think, ryan newman got penalized because a pit crew member did that
It’s not cheating if everyone else does it isn’t?
Its only cheating if they continued to since new rules stated it was wrong
@Joshua in Ty Gibbs name, Amen
its not illegal till someone finds it out
Jesu is coming soon to unleash his rath Repent

even if nobody did that the metal part would move itself when the car goes from the banked track into the apron

Oh wow that’s really smart.
Maybe DON’T MAKE IT SHARP.
What? it’s a metal corner, How would it not be sharp?
I don’t think it would’ve had the same effect had it been rounded off.
@Isaac Dull it.
@Casimir III possibly could if you make that piece dull
@Beanflakethen it wouldn’t be as effective
I would think this would slow things down…since you’re adding drag

Remember guys: when there’s an exploit, Hendrick is usually the first one to abuse it
If you ain’t cheatin, you ain’t tryin!
Well yeah….
Jeff Gordon ruined his own chance at a championship in 2014 tbh
I’m very curious as to how much downforce/performance doing this actually added
You’re not racing, if you’re not cheating.
Banning this led to teams then going to the crew member hip check in front of the rear wheel well
Let’s be honest
Hendricks motorsports drivers and crew got balls
“I know they’re cheating because we’re cheating and we can’t catch them”
I preferred when the crew would just hipcheck the back part of the door to make the whole door have bend that acted in a similar way for side force
