Usually in NASCAR history if a driver is remembered more for what they did off of the track it is not for a good reason. The same goes for animals around the racetrack as well. This is certainly the case for St. James Davis and his pet chimpanzee Moe who have been immortalized on the internet for all the wrong reasons. Today we look back at the NASCAR driver who owned a chimpanzee, and see St. James Davis, the NASCAR driver attacked by chimps.

What are some other wild racing stories you know that don’t get told often?
Jocko Flocko
Im waiting for that J.W Wright story that needs to be talked
McDowell Supremacy!
Smokey Yunick modifying a Chevelle that he planted in the Daytona parking lot for NASCAR to use as a template so he could pass inspection back in ’68
Yet another great video!!!
Also, apparently, all of the staff that took care of Davis needed therapy to help cope with seeing the results of a gruesome attack
every part of this is just plain sad. the poachers, the biting incidents, the cage, the relocation, the mauling, the disappearance, everything.
Not what I expected to see today.
PS Congrats on your engagement again Jaret!
Fun Fact: NASCAR does allow wild animals at and around their race tracks. These wild and untamed beasts are classified as “Elliott Fans” and are common around the Dawsonville area.
This made me laugh harder than it should’ve.
got a good cackle out of this one lol
Lol!
That’s hilarious
The aggressive and brutal version of Jocko Flocko
More like the sad version of it tbh.
What a tragic moment. /_
Regarding the mention of a chimpanzee’s lifespan, for a comparison Fred J. Muggs, the mascot of the early years of the Today show, was born in 1952 (about two months after the show began) and as of 2018 (the last known report on him) at least was still alive.
I thought Tony Stewart had a monkey at the track before. It could have been his house though
You can tame an animal out of the wild, but you can’t tame the wild out of it
Nope taught me that quite well.
This story is crazy! This sounds like a potential movie
Or a Fascinating Horror video
I never thought i was going to hear a story like this
Such an unbelievable story
In 2009, a woman here in CT was pretty much obliterated by her friend’s pet chimp.
The brutal version of Jocko Flocko.
Interesting. Thought this was going to be the Jocko Flacco story.
i love that this video is the one without the outro song. very respect
Imagine if Saint James had tried to have Moe in the race car Jocko Flocko style
I heard about this from Casual Geographic. I feel like a great crossover opportunity was missed.
This could have been a Fascinating Horror video
