Nascar should be embarrassed by this call

Idk I disagree. They should have just rolled through pit road they didn’t they serviced the car on a closed pit road they put themselves in that situation.

Trucker Cowboy Ed September 5, 2023 at 4:06 pm

Umm no the rule is clear the 4 team failed to call an audible…

Yuri Goofov September 5, 2023 at 4:18 pm

@Sealegs Sam doubt nascar made it clear he wasn’t on pit road in time by the time he arrived at the pitbox.

Yuri Goofov September 5, 2023 at 4:18 pm

@Trucker Cowboy Ed yea i’m sure nascar’s communication was infallible

Sealegs Sam September 5, 2023 at 4:23 pm

@YuriGoofov  Well I mean that’s a fair point but these teams know the rules if they thought there was even a chance they were too late they shouldn’t have risked it for exactly this reason.

I think 10 years, or less, ago Harvick sees and reacts in time to get back on track. He is getting “too old” and his reaction time is slowing. I think this is a reason for him retiring now. He sees the writing on the wall.

Lyle Francis Delp September 5, 2023 at 3:14 pm

Nope. No way could anyone react quick enough to stay on track without spinning out on old tires. Harvick was the victim of very bad luck, and there wasn’t anything he could have done about it.

SWFan September 5, 2023 at 3:42 pm

Byron barely made it and he was a good ways back of Harvick. Reaction time had nothing to do with it

Reply
Trucker Cowboy Ed September 5, 2023 at 3:57 pm

Stupid comment had nothing to do with this…

@Lyle Francis Delp Uh, I reacted quick enough from watching the in car camera, dude and I’m 60!

Reply
RC Dyer September 5, 2023 at 4:12 pm

@Trucker Cowboy Ed watch the replay from the in car camera. I COULD HAVE CUT IT BACK ONTO THE TRACK..

That almost looked like a perfect strategy to screw over a fellow playoff driver by causing the caution at a crucial moment. Now the 4 actually pitting during the yellow instead of driving through is solely their fault

Kharn The Betrayer September 5, 2023 at 4:19 pm

They would’ve been in the back if they hadn’t pitted. Damned if you do , Damned if you don’t.

Reply
Mike Clark September 6, 2023 at 1:05 am

@Kharn The Betrayer

Nope, Just drive through. Probably would have been like 6th or 7th place.

Reply
Kharn The Betrayer September 6, 2023 at 1:11 am

@Mike Clark exit of pit road is held/closed till the field has passed. That would’ve got him the same penalty which is tail end of the longest line.

Mike Clark September 6, 2023 at 1:56 am

@Kharn The Betrayer

I don’t believe that is true. You are literally the first person that has said that, even the former crew chiefs have said that he should have just drove through, I think they’d know.

Even driving through is an unfair penalty if they lose spots. Also, no way Reddick was fast enough to scheme that up, total fluke and a tweak on his part.

Rob Rogers September 5, 2023 at 4:35 pm

45 car should be sent to the back for being the cause of a yellow

Reply
Mike Clark September 6, 2023 at 1:06 am

Not the rule. It’s being involved in the yellow, not starting it.

Reply
Tonto Rita September 5, 2023 at 5:54 pm

Isnt there a rule if you come down pit road avoiding a wreck, you get youre spot back.

Reply
Subaru Outback Guy2 September 5, 2023 at 8:46 pm

he wasnt avoiding a wreck and they pitted the car. harvick was fucked from the spin

Reply
Mike Clark September 6, 2023 at 1:08 am

@Subaru Outback Guy2

No he wasn’t, he could have driven straight through. He didn’t have to pit…

Reply
Kharn The Betrayer September 6, 2023 at 1:13 am

@Mike Clark exit is stopped till the field has passed, he would’ve be at the end of the field no matter what.

Reply
Subaru Outback Guy2 September 6, 2023 at 1:58 am

@Mike Clark thats what i was saying

Mr.Magicstick September 6, 2023 at 12:48 am

If your pass the Commitment Cone when the yellow comes out you should be able to pit without there being a penalty!

Reply
Mike Clark September 6, 2023 at 1:05 am

Well… he didn’t.

Reply
Mr.Magicstick September 6, 2023 at 2:17 am

@Mike Clark But he was Committed to pit road, With zero chance of turning to miss it. There needs to be a line before the cone, That if you pass it and the yellow comes out you should be able to pit. Because it doesn’t give the 4 advantage if anything it gave the 45 the advantage because they where never going to make it before the cone and got a caution that they caused and needed to keep the lead. And the 4 had to go behind the lap down cars Tail end

Reply
Mike Clark September 6, 2023 at 2:24 am

@Mr.Magicstick

No. There doesn’t. The last thing in the world this sport needs is more judgment calls or things the racers can do to gain an advantage when things like this happen, because I PROMISE you, if you’re rule was a thing, every single caution at every single track anyone close to pit road would try to game the system. Harvick didn’t have to pit. At the end of thr day it’s that simple, he LITERALLY could have just driven through.

Reply
Mr.Magicstick September 6, 2023 at 2:43 am

@Mike Clark What?!? Abuse the system? Every driver drives as fast as possible to the pit line already. That line would due nothing unless a caution where to come out while driver where committed to pit line. Not saying it needs to be 1000ft before the cone, but it should be close enough to say that pass this point you will not be able to turn with hitting the cone. And your committed to pit road. And most of the if drivers are pitting under green everyone else is about to do the same anyways, and if they dont the going to do it under caution. So theres no gain

Reddick was the cause of the yellow he should have been put to the back as with most short track rule it also seemed like NASCAR prematurely through the yellow because the previous spin was never called?

Reply
Baron VonWeebz September 6, 2023 at 12:18 pm

I’m sure tracks sometimes you get Black flag for causing a yellow? It’s happened to me more than once on the dirt track?
