Alex Bowman has had a dream start to his 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season turn into an absolute nightmare over the past few months. With this kind of bad performance it should not shock anybody that the coverage of Bowman has been quite negative this season. I on the other hand have a bit of a different opinion on what Bowman’s current status and outlook are for the Hendrick Motorsports driver. So today we are going to look a lot more into the curious case of Alex Bowman.

Do you think that Alex Bowman will bounce back in the 2024 season?
I think he gets a win in the regular season.
Yes it’s been an down season so most likely just race out the 9 races do well and prep the 2024. He will be okay
I hope so
Yes, especially if they bring the speed they had at the beginning of the season or even recently.
Bowman has struggled insanely this season. I believe he will come back in full next season and we will see that driver that was winning races on a somewhat-consistent basis. He’s my favorite driver so I’m not about to doubt him off of one bad year. Team 48 forever!
The thing about Bowman is that he isn’t going to be a championship contender but he’s not bad enough for Hendrick to drop him. He’s too good to be bad, too bad to be a contender. Time is a circle for the #48.
I disagree, had he not gotten injured in 2021 I think he makes championship 4. Nothing is touching Larson for that season, but he’d be called a contender if that didn’t happen.
@inFenityhe didn’t get injured in 2021, that was 2022
He just has the worst luck at the worst times. 2021 he had a pit problem at Vegas, got turned at Talladega, and had some sort of mechanical issue at the roval. 2022 he got injured just after having some good finishes in a row since that spring. 2023 we all know what happened.
@inFenity Bowman led less laps in 2021 than Byron did in his winless 2019 season, sure he won 4 times but he wasn’t a real contender that year.
Even though he might he having a bad season, us bowman fans will be excited for next year because I think he will make a comeback.
It’s almost like Alex Bowman has had enough after what followed after his great start to the 2023 season. But there’s always next year.
Hopefully he can turn things around, but he has been crashing DNF a lot. Whether it’s his own fault like at Darlington and or other tracks, just getting taken out in other races, but he is just being caught up in crashes that aren’t always his fault. Although like after he broke his back he has been running so mid, like sometimes he is back in the 20s. It’s just been a rough season, I say, if he doesn’t prove anything by next season, then you could talk about maybe maybe his ride being in jeopardy
As a Bowman fan, this year has been so frustrating. That Darlington incident was like a shot in the chest
As a guy who likes all 4 Hendrick drivers, I agree. It’s been frustrating on the cases of Alex and Chase Elliott. Both seemed like they had the capabilities to make the Playoffs this year, and both of them had NASCAR and life throw everything but the kitchen sink at them. I’m just glad that Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Martin Truex (my other guy in my fav-5) made the Playoffs.
Ik the one time he chooses to be aggressive it is the worst possible time
I think his back injury has really messed him up this year. Was running insanely consistent before he got hurt and ever since his return he’s had 2 Top 10’s, both of which have come in the last 4 races. I don’t think he’s in a good space right now mentally but when he comes back next year I think he’ll go back to performing well
True
His brand new three year contract starts in 2024 and runs through 2026. Full season, meaning every race with one sponsor, Ally. Stop with the “who’s replacing him” talk.
It’s just like Chase Elliott. Bowman had an off year and people want to hate on him. Every driver has their off year. Some can bounce back some lose their team and have to rebuild and some never come back. Bowman will be back.
I think talent wise, he is on the same level as Elliot and it’s just an off year. He will be back stronger
Elliott is better than half the HMS team so that’s ridiculous
He’s the least talented HMS driver. Larson, Elliott, and Byron are more talented
This is a wild take.
Ally is currently the only cup sponsor to be on the car for all 38 events. Bowman is locked up in the 48 until 2026. He’ll be competitive again in 2024.
There will be pressure on bowman if Byron wins this year’s championship and I truly believe Byron is a lock for the final 4. It’s sad to see the injury basically hinder bowman’s performance on track and off track
In my opinion, Alex Bowman is the new Steve Park. He’s a good driver, but is injury prone and that’s negatively effected his career.
I don’t think that’s a good comparison. I think a more accurate comparison is kasey kahne. People keep hyping him up but he never really lives up to it
Bowman is a great driver, I think the injury to his back is what slowed him down a bit Similar to Hamlin in 2013, he’ll get his swagger back it’ll just take awhile, as having an injury usually does to any athlete. I see him ending this year strong and knocking it out the park in 2024.
More people are finally starting to remember that back injuries suck and don’t heal for a while. As a Bowman fan, I’ve kept Hamlin’s 2013 season in mind, hence my lack of disappointment after he missed the playoffs. Also, people are going insane because he stood up for himself once.
I’ve been a bowman fan for a while since he’s my hometown driver but this year has been so hard. With him leading the points and then getting penalized then getting them back and being back on top to being out and then not being as good when he’s back in the car it’s been a wild season. Im going to the Phoenix race so I just hope he gets a good finish at this point
I think Bowman’s issue is that he got hurt, and he happens to be the 4th best driver at HMS right now, which as you said, would make him the best or 2nd best at ANY other team.
He’ll bounce back, just needs to heal and get back into a rhythm.
Really hope to see him and Chase back to form next year.
As a Hendrick fan, I know not having all 4 cars in the playoffs is a ridiculous thing to complain about compared to a lot of other people’s favorite drivers and teams. But this year has just been painful with all the injuries and penalties and everything…
