Yeah it does he was 23 points ahead of jhn. Like look back at Kyle Busch 2019 I’m pretty sure he won the regular season championship but wasn’t first seed

The two #9 cars driven by Georgia born drivers in Cup and Xfinity that made the championship 4 last year fail to even make the playoffs this year. *I did not see that coming*

In my opinion top 3 are the only ones that have a shot at it because they have shown the most consistency in speed this year.
Real question here why the hell do we still have playoffs we have new management and ceo and yet we havent gotten rid of this trash point system its incredibly gimmicky and awards the wrong champion just because the most dominant has 2 bad races Kevin harvick 2020 comes to mind and chase elliott 2022

I would like to see if it’s something with the car or Herbst himself, Run a few races with diff drivers in the 98 and have Herbst run in a diff manufacture
It’s definitely Herbst. He’s a good driver, but he’s not a championship driver. Custer has routinely outperformed him all year and even though he’s been inconsistent, he still has 2 wins. I like Riley but he’ll always be a pay driver, he’ll get a win eventually, but he’ll never win a championship

Herbst is just not good. If he could’ve even make the chase in his 4th full time season with much deeper competition than I’m sorry he doesn’t deserve a top 5 ride if he continuously runs mediocre. Even without the 2 mechanical failures late in the season, he still has 20 on-track incidents this year alone. You can’t make the chase if you keep wrecking cars.
