I really hope we still get a dirt race in cup next year. The racing in dirt has been too good to not see again.
There is going to be no more dirt racing ever again because NASCAR isn’t giving up one of its dates or speedway Motorsports to give fans a stupid f****** dirt race when the The fans can go watch races at their local fairgrounds for dirt
To me the Bristol dirt race was the best race on a short track with this car
@John Haasbro needs a new life
Just watch dirt late models or Srx nascar does not need to be on dirt
Really hope the next gen performs well tomorrow night.
Hope the rain is a non factor
Every time something nascar related starts going out. Eric is the first one to upload. He’s turning into a speedrunner
I have given the guy two different shoutouts on my channel for keeping me up to date on all things NASCAR
Great video Eric. Hopefully Sheldon Creed gets an Xfinity dub tonight
bristol dirt was one of my favorite races of the past 3 years, everyone wanted it gone but lets see how many tickets sell in the spring race
Right. All the locals know it’s going to get delayed or end early. So rainy that time of year. Night race is always awesome though
They’re gonna sell way more tickets, the normal track has always been more popular, loved and enternaining
It’s a logistical nightmare, having to get all that equipment together to put dirt on and off the track back and forth every year costed a fortune, plus if it rained it was that much more complicated to dry the track.
@Isaac Arangothe spring Bristol doesn’t sell well , they had more people for the dirt .
Not sure how I feel about 2 Bristol concrete dates. Unless they fix the config for this car on Bristol, don’t really think this is that exciting. Would rather see the first Bristol date go to either a real dirt track (like Eldora) or a track without a date like Chicagoland, Rockingham, or even North Wilkesboro.
Chris Rice sure surprised a lot of people by hiring a guy who was already in their organization.
This might be controversial, but now that the Dirt Bristol race is gone, I think we should replace Spring Bristol with either Wilkesboro or Nashville Fairgrounds. Spring Bristol has been pretty much dead for a long while, and with the popularity of it recently dropping, it needs to be replaced at this point.
This doesn’t change that we need to get a better short track package for the cars though. And, once the short track problems are taken care of, we also need a dirt race at an actual dirt track like Eldora on the calendar.
I think eventually the spring Bristol date does go to the fairgrounds if that deal ever happens
Couldn’t agree more.
Should be replaced with Rockingham and the 2nd Richmond race with Nashville.
Should be replaced with Iowa because it’s in a new market
I think the dirt was fun, but since every race has so many implications for playoffs and the money associated with them, NASCAR really can’t afford to have a race run like a gimmick, which is what the dirt ended up being. If they want to run on dirt, which is fine with me, they would need to make it part of their schedule, with at least 4-5 races run that way. An alternative would be to do the non-points races like they do for the all star race or the race at the Coliseum, and run those as dirt for the fun of it. It might make the ratings for those races better. It is fun to watch, but it’s just not where NASCAR is anymore.
I honestly wish they had kept Bristol Dirt. Though I thought that 2022 was better than 2023, I think they could build on what they had been doing and a dirt race was a must see for years to come on the NASCAR Schedule
I really hope they can get Eldora, Knoxville, or any other dirt track on the schedule next season cause I think that’s a must have
It’s not worth the cost for Marcus Smith when there’s no support series AKA dirt Nationals. It’s very expensive to hire The construction crew to move all that dirt from the parking lot back in spread it around and haul it back out plus all the man hrs by the grounds crew to power wash the track and stands
If NASCAR goes to Europe, they should consider dirt races there. Europe has ovals, but most of them are motorcycle speedway dirts. Maybe one or two could work for NASCAR. Question is if the lap on them really is half a mile, which is a must. The only well known asphalt oval in Europe is Lausitzring near Cottbus, Germany, but it’s questionable if a race on the “European Pocono” is possible. Yes, that track in fact has 3 turns like Pocono, and a triangular shape. It could make interesting races, but let’s not forget Alex Zanardi lost his legs on it, so safety might be a very long topic to discuss.
@spd7693 They aren’t going to go international just to go dirt racing
@John Haas
Of course they’re not! They’d go international for completely different reasons. I’m saying that in Europe there are more dirt ovals than asphalt ones, so it might be easier to do a dirt race there. But that wouldn’t happen if there are no asphalt races there and no dirt races in the States. I’m just saying they should consider one or two if they come. Until when are you going to turn my words in my mouth and act like a complete troll? Either read my comments and try to understand all the reasons or don’t respond to me at all if you are going to never aggree with me!
can we talk about how Matt Kaulig and chris rice kept avoiding questions about the #16 car and their charter situation
Love your channel. Thanks for getting NASCAR news out so quickly!
I honestly think that the dirt race helped the night race. It was the only race on concrete making it the only time to see it every year. The dirt race was it’s own animal which I loved. I fear that attendance will still not be good for a spring concrete race and also take away a little from the night race.
Except it didn’t actually help the night race and the ticket sales still dropped.
@Run Rafa Run #THEBESTINTHEWORLD the night race last year had the largest crowds in over 6 years. I was there. It was the most people they’ve had in a long time
I wouldn’t be surprised if Daniel Hemric and Ty Gibbs were to get their first career wins next season.
I can see Ty getting a win this year he been qualifying good but seems to slide during races. If he gets a good restart I can see him easily winning one this year.
I never felt like constantly moving dirt back on and off of Bristol was going to be something NASCAR or the track owners were ever going to want to deal with every year. I still would like a dirt race at a dedicated dirt track, and I know it is cliche’, but I have to say Eldora. I don’t know if we’re getting dirt at all next year, frankly I’m surprised that even with dirt off the track, that Bristol is still keeping two races. The fact alone that Bristol has two races is going to throw away a lot of theories people had, possibly even the potential North Wilksboro points race.
It must have cost a lot to build the dirt track, then tear it down. Must have hurt the bottom line for the track owner too much. Maybe needed more butts on seats in the grandstands to make the race pay. But I credit them for trying.
I like Eric’s idea of 2 dirt races at well-known tracks, like Eldora and Knoxville.
If we’re talking Knoxville TN, then I can see NASCAR going there as Knoxville is a midsize city market for racing, which means more television viewership and more attention, they should replace the spring Bristol race, it’s close to North Carolina, and Bristol Motor Speedway is another 2 hours north
Lets not shy away from the REAL problem. The schedule is a solid nine months long and trying to put 36 points races and two non-points races from February to November is going to put some dates in less than ideal situations. I love dirt racing, but Bristol is a 7 hour drive and not worth the chance of bad weather, especially on a weekend that my family always gets together. I attended almost every truck race at Eldora, and that was closer to an 8 hour drive, but I never worried about the Ohio weather in July or August. And you know what, we never had rain issues there. NASCAR doesn’t want to cut the schedule, but we either need to do that or race mid week or have more Pocono double headers. Atlanta, Bristol, Richmond, and Martinsville would all benefit from getting out of March or April. Rockingham had the same problem with dates in February and October, and we lost that track partially because of poor attendance. I don’t want to see a Martinsville with a date in April and October have the same issue.
I wanted bristol dirt gone because it was a waste of time and money to put dirt on a track that wasnt meant for it. It was def good this year, but i think its better to go to a dirt track that was ACTUALLY built to be a dirt track like eldora
Bristol dirt was always going to be a gimmick that not everyone took seriously. That’s just the nature of being the only time in the schedule they raced on dirt.
I’m pretty excited to see how the speedway package races on the short track. I think it could be a huge difference. Hopefully enough to make it exciting. Also, yes, true dirt is better. Eldora is my favorite dirt track.
