But that hit in the wall was hard
And now he’s know as a Daytona 500 and Brickyard winner.
It took 15 years of clawing, but in the end, the wait and hard work was more than worth it!
I was 7 and at Texas Roadhouse and saw the wreck on TV ill never forget
Saw this live, cot car saved his life no doubt!
Michael McDowell Is my favorite driver now that hurt Bush is gone
I watch on speed channel
Fortunately, McDowell was driving a full-bodied stock car with all the safety enhancements of the late-2000s, including the SAFER barrier, because that crash was eerily reminiscent of Gordon Smiley’s crash at Indy in 1982 when he was warming up for a qualification attempt, and Smiley’s crash was one of the most awful things ever witnessed at a race track.
From what I understand, both have road course racing backgrounds and their instinct when the car gets loose, they countersteer it but ended up resulting to hooking towards the wall.
This guy is one of the reasons I continue to watch NASCAR!
