The fact there are TWO Daytona and Atlanta back to back races on this schedule is WILD!
@Adrian the schedule was released a few hours ago
This actually isn’t true lol. The “second” back-to-back is split up by Darlington, the new cut-off race.
@Turbokart37 he is referring to the start of the season.
@Josh Lampmanhe literally said twice
If only the Richmond races were replaced with Canada and Rockingham and Atlanta and Nashville were still night races
Yessss Richmond sucks
Atleast richmond is at night lol
Yea Nashville two years ago was 3:30pm right as a Storm moved in. If they ran at Noon they would have gotten the race in. That’s why they moved to the night race this year. Thought it let them know “Hey make it a Night Race” but they’ll have to learn again.
I just think Richmond and Bristol need 1 date and would have been cool to get Rockingham on the schedule.
Screw you, it’s the car.
Next year’s schedule is indeed WILD!!
Is it? I feel like it’s pretty tame, lol.
Couldn’t wait for this vid! Cheers Eric, love your reactions, insight, and passion for our wonderful sport!
As an Iowan I’m so THRILLED and EXCITED! I’ve already made my deposit for presale tickets!
I’m not an Iowan but I’m thrilled and excited to watch it on TV!
Same here and already reserved my hotel room for those several days
Such a cool track, I drove it to a top 5 in iRacing.
No deposit, but signed up for their update list. Looking to see if I can make some more money before sales go live. And maybe, after the race, I can head to the Field of Dreams if have some extra money/time
I live in iowa too. Very excited!
two road courses and two superspeedways in the playoffs?… bro michael mcdowell is about to cook‼️
Exactly what I was thinking, . unfortunately the Indy RC is gone and you have to assume that Chase Elliott, Ty Gibbs, and Alex Bowman will make the playoffs next year, making the road to pointing his way in that much harder.
Man will cook a lot more, hope to see gilliland cook too
Eh..with Atlanta and the Glen in the playoffs and Indy back to the oval, that’s 3 less chances for McDowell to even make it to the playoffs
@KombatRacerdon’t forget svg can spoil the party!
@horsefly1020svg ain’t running full-time. He made a development deal with Trackhouse for next year.
Honestly, I was hoping that Sonoma would take the auto club date. I hear that it’s beautiful in Northern California at that time of year. And I was pretty surprised to see Watkins Glen in the playoffs for the first time ever. Is it really rainy up in New York at that time? Anybody who lives there can answer that question.
I look forward to cheering on all of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers this season, and at least be in person for one of the races (maybe Kansas or Iowa).
No it’s rainy in Sonoma in March. That race would’ve been a rain out. They have to have Sonoma between May and October.
I live one hour north of Watkins Glenn and a town in Webster. Down there it’s raining most of the week, even sometimes a whole week. In my opinion it’s kind of a stupid decision to put it in the playoffs if it rains like that I don’t know what’s going to happen.
It can get unusually cold up here in September at like a moments notice and weather in September is random if it’s rainy or not but typically more rainy than the summer
That was never going to happen Because that’s too rainy of a season in Northern California and all of the parking is on hillside that are not pavement
Sonoma native here, it’s either raining all most of the time or hardly raining at all. With the wet weather package it would probably be a good race tho. Only issue with Sonoma during wet weather is all (maybe one) roads are dirt… so a lot of mud
It’s awesome to see Iowa Speedway on the Cup Series schedule.
Kind of crazy that it was only added as a back-up plan when Montreal fell through, because it’s such an awesome addition. I hope it’s not a one and done thing.
I like how the Round of 16 has essentially turned into a wildcard round of sorts. Not sure about the back to back plate races at the start of the season though
They don’t use plates anymore
@Trucker Cowboy EdI don’t care. At the end of the day, a smaller tapered spacer functions the exact same as a restrictor plate does, and I sure as hell ain’t gonna call them “spacer races”.
@Trucker Cowboy Ed idc im still calling them plate races
@Trucker Cowboy EdYes they do. Tapered spacer is a type of restrictor plate. I always refer to drafting races as plate races rather than Superspeedways because the term Superspeedway only applies to Talladega and Nashville. Daytona and Atlanta are not Superspeedways, they are plate tracks.
@ROGERRRR PENSKEEEEEEEEE!Don’t listen to that guy lol. All the drivers refer to drafting tracks as plate races since they use tapered spacers which are a type of restrictor plate. Anybody who says otherwise doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
I can always count on your honest opinion…always delivered in a positive balanced manner. Often copied but no one can deliver the news in nascar like you can! Been waiting for this schedule!
Very kind of you to say!
I totally agree with the man! lol
@Eric Estepp
Watkins Glen being a playoff race is weird to think about
Yeah, handing a playoff win to Elliot
That date is reminiscent of the old USGP. Need to have an Andretti in the field.
@SLIXSyeah, and what’s the problem?
@mike adams Elliot fell off a cliff after his injury
Kinda disappointed Pocono got rid of the Saturday Trucks and Xfinity doubleheader. Glad all three series are still there but now on 3 different days. It would be nice if that allowed extra practice time again
Why the hell don’t they allow practice anymore in the first place?
I’m glad the cup series is going to Iowa speedway. I’m born and raised and still live in Iowa been a nascar fan my whole life and I’ve always wanted to see the cup series here at Iowa speedway. Ben Kennedy said yesterday that the Iowa speedway races like an intermediate track so I hope it’s now called the shortest intermediate track instead of the fastest short track in the world
Is an Iowan I an excited too
I’ve been by the track dozens of times and every time I think what could be. Now it’s what WILL be. I’m so pumped!
Love the back to back big tracks. I like the playoff schedule it’s not perfect due to Olympics but I understand.
If Iowa is a smash-hit with the fans like Gateway is, this will be a great add.
I think Cup will fill that place easily.
I’m looking forward to going to the Iowa race ! Only a couple hours drive for me !
This may be considered a “hot take”, but considering it’s an American sport and literally has the word “National” is part of its name, that every race (and the money it produces for the area) stay in America. I understand wanting to build an audience but you don’t go chasing a hypothetical audience that might be there by alienating the fans you already have. All of entertainment has been doing that the last five years and you can see how well that’s turned out for say Disney Star Wars, Marvel, DC, etc
I’m stoked to have more NASCAR in the Midwest.
It’s crazy to think that in the past the first and last race were held at Road courses at different times. Imagine if that happened nowadays
I would switch Bristol and Texas. Avoid the bad weather in Bristol, add the two Texas races at the end of the west coast swing, and make a short track swing with Richmond, Martinsville, and Bristol. This would give you marketable swings early in the year and saves a ton for the teams in travel costs (if they don’t tear up the equipment).
Two drafting tracks in the playoffs Is really interesting. Can’t wait to see how it plays out.
I like this schedule. The playoffs looks to be extremely balanced
