Cue annoying “NASCAR died when Dale died” comments, blatantly ignoring the fact that NASCAR’s highest rated seasons were after that.
2006 that’s the highest
@no ?
Meh nascar did go down hill after 2014s season IMO. It’s not the same
@J F Z28 it’s on a bit of rise because of the nexgen
Its because theres truly only 1 Dale Earnhardt. Junior never even came close to filling his dads shoes.
Not when you look at his success as a car owner. He rivaled his dad’s success as a driver in THAT aspect.
And let’s not forget that the Son of The Intimidator won two Daytona 500s. Dale Earnhardt only won one. I’d say he fit good in his father’s shoes.
@CamaroDude1776 look at total wins. Its not even close.
Those are unfair expectations Noone could live up to jr was a great racer still is
He did it in some ways but he didn’t drive like his dad you got to remember NASCAR was different when senior started compared to when Junior started
People probably made him feel old when people called him Dale Sr.
I didn’t know that. Makes a lot sense though.
I think the only reason why people called him dale sr was to differentiate himself from his son
Then he shouldn’t havenamed his son after himself lol
Because it made him feel OLD. Earnhardt always raced like that young man from Kannapoilis trying to make ends meet. Being called Senior just was not his style. “I just want to be Dale Earnhardt” he always said when asked about it.
didn’t like big E either
The only thing worse would be to call him Ralph Jr
