There are plenty of superstars and top level drivers in every series that we see every week. This makes it very hard for other drivers, newer drivers, or just anyone not in that club to break through and make a name for themselves. These drivers either excelled in a new ride, made the best of a part time ride, or even made the best out of being a super substitute. These are 6 drivers who excelled with great opportunities in 2023…

Which drivers do you think made the most of their 2023 season?
Chris Buescher
berry in cup, hocevar everywhere
Matt DiBenedetto: even though he didn’t get a win he was Top 10 most weeks in the truck series, made the playoffs and was 9th in standings before he was ultimately fired but he really improved over his 2022 season
Carson Hocevar & Josh Berry.
Bayley Currey, Jake Garcia, Carson Hocevar, Josh Berry, Michael McDowell, Corey LaJoie, Chris Buescher, and Sam Mayer
The first guys that come to my mind making the most of 2023 have to be Buescher, Wallace, Hocevar, and McDowell.
Buescher, Hocevar, Kligerman, Wallace, MCDOWELL SUPREMACY, and Sam Mayer exceeded Expectations IMO
Bubba Wallace, Michael McDowell, and Sam Mayer are great mentions.
Bubba did what he was supposed to do, he just wasn’t good enough last year for example.
I’ll say out of those Sam Mayer and bubba Wallace took too long. If msyer didn’t get a win this year he would’ve been gone but getting the win then making it this far in the playoffs showed he could improve. Bubba last year improved a little. This year much more but it took way too long. In any other top tier team he would’ve been gone. Let’s be real him being black gave him more time. Wish it wasn’t why but it’s true.
McDowell has always exceeded expectations. He’s never really been in a top tier ride
Why is everyone mentioning bubba wallace?
2023 has been a successful season for 23XI Racing with both the 23 & 45 making the playoffs
brett moffit his win at dega on a one off and his great runs with AM racing most underrated driver in nascar today
Not really underrated everyone knows he’s a winner but AM racing isn’t JRM or JGR fast.
Brett Moffitt needs better cars. He’s going to win races when he gets in it.
@Run Rafa Run #THEBESTINTHEWORLD underrrated because he doesn’t get those opportunities like busher never got til this year
Hot Take: Carson Hocevar wins a cup race in 2024.
Fact no cap. See this happening also, my bets either at Dover or North Wilkesboro.
I definitley agree with kilgerman and hocervar
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has also excelled expections, and he has had a solid A- season thus far imo.
I want to give a mention to Layne Riggs. Great late model racer who’s gotten top 10s in both trucks and Xfinity. Keep an eye out for him in the future
Any relation to Scott?
@KitsuneGB1001He’s Scott’s son
For Layne Riggs, I can see a good Truck Series career or even an Xfinity Series career. I don’t know about Cup, but you never know.
SVG at Chicago was the best one
I think Kraus has impressed this season in his limited starts. In 7 starts in the xfinity series he has 3 top 10s and has looked solid in all his starts.
Nick Sanchez has flown under the radar idk how nobody has noticed him
Because he mostly dominated in Arca and now that he’s in Trucks he has not been able to show it.
@Run Rafa Run #THEBESTINTHEWORLD Sanchez lost Trucks finals by a tie breaker. How is that not impressive for a Trucks rookie?
Gotta give Carson Hocevar the most improved driver award
Carson Hocevar could be your next superstar the kid differently has the talent…
I kinda want a opposite version of this with drivers who did terrible with their equipment
Buescher and McDowell instantly come to mind. No one thought that they were going to have a good season but they’ve pleasantly surprised a lot of people.
I think Riley Herbst is really coming into his own, especially towards the end of the season.
I believe Carson hocevar will really excel in the cup series next year. Also josh berry. I think it will take him some time to figure it out. But once he figures it out. He’ll be a top ten contender week in and week out. And then the last one I have on my list the wasn’t deeply mentioned in this video. Is Noah Gragson. I do think he will land a ride and find himself back in the cup series. Weather that’s with SHR which has been rumored. Or with kaulig. His opportunity with legacy was a sh*it show. 1. He was rushed up to early 2. He wasn’t in the best equipment and 3. The announced departure from Chevrolet to Toyota mid season did not help him out at all,as Chevrolet withdrew the support they were pouring into that team.
Hocevar will be great in the future, I’m buying a 77 sticker as soon as they are out
