I feel bad for Creed. Ever since the announcement hes been the scapegoat
I don’t think Creed did anything wrong. He was trying to get into the Championship 4! It wasn’t blatant or anything. Seems like some toxicity and favoritism at RCR (shocked, not shocked).
Yep. Ask Mike Skinner. Ask Jeff Green ‼️He was fired the next day after his favoritism comment.
I’m pretty hard on drivers not driving clean, and there were a few moves he made that were borderline, maybe over my line, but come on, it’s the Championship 4 and a must win situation, of course he’s gonna drive hard.
Well I mean Creed did stand his ground so good for him
I’m with Creed here, hill raced Creed hard, Creed gave it back. He was still in it for a championship too, why lay over for a teammate, a teammate that already hates you lol.
This is how I see it the final lap of a playoff race you have no friends or teammates because everybody’s gonna be racing hard to get that win especially guys that had to win to make the final four
This was the race of the year imo. Creed did nothing wrong on the overtime restart, he was going for the win, and since he wasn’t returning to RCR i saw no issue.
What pissed me off was the hate comments that Hill and Richard Childress gave toward creed even though Creed did nothing wrong. That lost all my respect toward RCR. Im glad Creed is going to JGR next season and hope he does well there.
Hate comments were wrong but creed 100% brake checked hill in 3-4 which got him wrecked and caused creed to lose. One of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen in my 20 years watching this sport. Absolute unadulterated idiocy.
@Kyle hes gotta lift or brake to make the corner. he overslowed. it was a mistake that ultimately caused him to lose the win and hill to lose a radiator, but in no way was it a a stupid move. he either slows to make the corner and give himself a shot at winning, or drive straight into the wall.
@Kyle This is so stupid. Why would he brake check when he’s leading a must-win race? Watch the replay. Creed’s still washing up the track when Hill rear-ends him. Is Creed too slow mid-corner? Yes. Because Hill doorslammed him on entry and ruined his corner.
Not the first time creed has wreaked a teammate.
Rcr has every right to be upset.
@Jeffrey Snipes Yes, he does. If anyone in his team had been smart enough to tell Austin Hill to hold in 2nd, both of his cars would be in the Championship 4.
Not a fan of RC calling out his own driver. What was he supposed to do, lie down and let a championship 4 spot slip away? I don’t blame him for going after it. Childress getting so snippy with Creed is just downright unprofessional.
Exactly if it was his grandsons or Dale Sr he wouldn’t have said a damn thing
Yep!
Does anybody wonder why he’s leaving? Seems pretty toxic in RCR land.
You get your two cars knocked out of the stupid chace crap format and let us see you be professional lol. Giving everyone ice cream.
Richard has bullied before, and Creed didn’t even do anything wrong…
He always been that way outside of the be owner that runs multi car teams but chooses 1 over the other which is why he had to hire a driver on the bad nine of his career to help his team be relevant again.
Bully but let’s his grand kids run cup cars that aren’t worth a damn and disgrace the number 3
It’s pretty obvious that RCR relegated Creed to second-class citizen status after deeming Hill their future Cup driver.
Which I think most people would do
They’ve done that to Harvick Green in a much worse way Menard Robby Gordon and Skinner
The difference between RCR and JRM is wild. In both situations, you have a driver leaving the team. One team has been extremely supportive of their driver and his future, even when his season hasn’t been as successful as they had hoped. The other team got pissed off when their driver was racing TO REACH THE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE. Wild.
Harvick, Reddick and now Creed. All toxic departures from RCR. Says a lot about the environment there.
I find it pathetic that Childress is mad at 2 drivers that were driving like the guy that made him all his money in the first place if Dale was still alive we all know he wouldn’t put up with this bullshit
*Skinner Green Robby Gordon Harvick Menard Reddick and now Creed
@CLAPPEDOUTDIESEL I mean, I feel like at that point you know the final app of the last race before the final four all those playoff drivers that knew they needed to win we’re gonna be racing hard even if it was against their teammate and that moment in their mind, there’s no friends here and I gotta do what I gotta do to win that’s within the rules and what not that’s what this was a case of here. It was very unprofessional of him to say Sheldon Creed is stupid or you know, however he said it specially to the media you could say that to yourself but that’s not a good look in my mind doesn’t make people want to come for you
@mason everidgeHarvick and Reddick have said they’re on good terms with RCR. And nobody liked Robby Gordon anyway.
@JimmyI did
Another heartbreaking finish for Creed. Loved seeing Allgaier and the mayo car win but felt bad for Creed. I don’t see anything wrong with it. Creed did what he had to do to get a win and nearly got it.
IMO he 100% brake checked the 21 in 3-4 which got bill wrecked and him 2nd place. Creed threw a fit a fucked them both over.
@Kyleyou say that as though Sheldon did it intentionally
@kyle57688 the dude would not intentionally slam on the breaks on the last lap in the last corner running in 1st going for his 1st win and a shot at a championship just to wreck a teammate.i agree he slowed down but I’m sure it’s because he over drove the corner and had to to turn and make it
He overdrove the corner because Hill slammed him going into 3
Maybe VP of Competition, Andy Petree shares some, if not all the blame for no cars in the final race by not keeping both teams aware of the points situation and formulating a strategy that would ensure both would get in.Especially when both re-start on the front row.
Eddie DeHondt (7 car spotter) predicted the end perfectly. The front two ALWAYS end up trying to take each other out somehow if they can.
2nd place would’ve been a win for Hill.
@Mike yeah there’s definitely some poor communication on that part people that have been there a while know everyone’s gonna be racing hard on the final app especially the playoff guys that they have to win to get in it. It’s the final lap there’s not gonna be any friends here everyone’s gonna be doing everything they can within reason to win
True
And if they had done that, NASCAR fines and penalizes both teams for manipulating the chase. All they could have done (and should have done) is make sure both drivers are aware of their own points situation. Maybe then Hill gives a little more and is happy with second.
Don’t believe that NexGen car could have stood up to all the beating and banging I seen in this race..Congrats to #7 and Mr. Creed you gave it all, you did what you get paid to do, try to win.
I have never had any reason to pull for Creed. But I have not had a very positive outlook on Hill since he came into the Xfinity scene. Tonight solidifies the kind of person & driver Austin Hill is. Very disappointed with that whole RCR crew. And Andy Petree? Come on.. I think some people forget this is the last development series to get into the top level.. they are not perfect by any means. But, for a seasoned veteran like Andy to come after a guy like that.. he can do better. I stand firmly with Sheldon Creed tonight. He has obviously made the correct decision to jump ship and rebuild elsewhere.
I agree Eric. Richard has been in this business forever and he had two of his drivers in position to fight for the win on a late restart at Martinsville. Did he really think either driver was going to lay over and let the other win? It was a great race and I’m not surprised at the outcome. I can’t wait for the Cup Race this afternoon.
RC even said it on the radio before the restart that Creed would go hard. This was not shocking and Creed raced courteously given the situation. RC, Petree and Hill just let emotions get to them.
Eric, thank you so much for doing this extra Saturday night edition. Really appreciate your perspective on this race!
A similar scenario took place in the 2001 edition of the British Touring Car Championship.
There was a wild battle for the championship between the two works Vauxhall of Yvan Muller and Jason Plato, the forner being the favourite of the team and the latter considered the wingman that had to play second fiddle.
There were some rough battles and confrontations along the season with both of them leading the overall classification, and Plato in his autobiography wrote that his own boss Roland Dane trash talked him in private and ultimately even tried to get him disqualified from the championship finale before the event even started, while both of them were in a dogfight for the title. It ended up with Plato winning the championship after Muller had an engine failure and left the team at season’s end.
The fact that Hill doored Creed off the rip and Creed is getting yelled at tells you all you need to know about RCR. Good for Creed on leaving.
