Who is your pick to win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series championship?
Willam Bryon
Kyle Larson
All 4 have a good chance at winning this one
Larson
I think Larson has a good shot, but I wanna see Bell win.
I’ve got Blaney. His wins at the Coke 600, Talladega and Martinsville show that he does well when a big race happens and he’s been very consistent when it matters.
So, Larson wins a Crown Jewel as well, and the All Star, and has more wins overall. And has a better average finish all year, AND the playoffs. So please tell me a single thing you said that doesn’t also apply to Larson, who is also faster….
If Blaney wins it has ZERO to do with anything you said, if Blaney wins it’s because either Larson self destructed, or because Penske is a amazing here.
@Mike Clark What I mean is Larson has shown that he does well in big races for years. Meanwhile, Blaney’s really started to show that this year.
@Mike Clarkwould like to point out that blaney actually has a better average finish this season
@SmartCoder2432
That’s surprising. But thank you.
Same
My pick to win it all is William Byron it would pretty fitting if he wins it this year because he really broke out this season
Ya know ow I had the same pick
Plus, he was winning all the races Jeff Gordon won when he won his championships!
So it would be fitting if history would repeat itself with the iconic number 24 as the 75th champion!
Yes
@NR89_PLYZ that’s actually a good point, Jeff Gordon won 7 races in 1995 when he got his first championship, so if Byron wins phoenix it will also be a 7 win championship
@Ringo Flatts exactly!
And Red BRYON won the 1949 championship to
it’s bell all the way. shown the last two years to be the clutchest playoff driver
It’s between Byron or Bell for me
Ryan Blaney is my favorite for the title. The momentum has been with Ford since August. I do see Byron or Larson giving him a run for his money. It’ll be a close fight
My favorite got knocked out in the last round (MTJ for those who’ll ask), I’m taking Mr. Clutch and the person who should’ve won the cup last year, I’m taking Christopher Bell.
This is going to be a more exciting battle than last year honestly. Even with Phoenix being so middling as a championship race.
Agreed
I believed in the magic of the 24 this season all season long. The first time I was genuinely worried was martinsville. Now I’m about 50/50. If they bring a good setup, I have Byron winning. If they don’t, I think it will be blaney
I’d like a video (or maybe two videos) on just how incredibly unlucky Truex Jr. and Hamlin are.
They aren’t the most unlucky drivers probably, but they’re definitely in the top 6% of unlucky drivers. Both of them are incredibly talented, both with more than 270 top ten finishes. And yet, between the two of them they’ve only got one championship. They are, in my mind, the two drivers that most deserve more championships that have somehow consistently found the bad luck train to push those championships just out of their grasp.
True but at least truex has captured that moment once . Denny unfortunately is still chasing , that’s even more mind boggling . But your right I think truex has finished 2cd in the championship race a few times too , and I remember a couple years ago when his pit crew put the wrong tires on and basicallly ruined his 2cd title . They def have some shitty luck man
I feel like Byron is the natural winner this year, more than his wins, his sheer consistency is impressive.
As close as we’ll get to have a regular and playoff champion.
I’m not fully sure who to pick, but the two I’d like to see win would be either Bell or Blaney, mainly because I just like those two of course. I’m not saying I’d prefer to see Bell win, but it’d certainly be fascinating seeing him win Gibbs another championship in a season that started so ingloriously for them mixed with the off-season. The Ty Gibbs controversies (especially the Brandon Jones debacle), the departure of Kyle Busch, all of the rumblings of internal troubles, and even Coy Gibbs’s tragic passing. So for a team that had so much going against them headed into this season to put three of its drivers into the final 8 and one of them in the Championship 4 is rather impressive (Not to mention JHN having a great year and going to the Xfinity Championship 4).
Heck, it’s wild how well this season’s gone for them compared to Richard Childress Racing, who entered the year with Kyle Busch jumping in and scoring three wins in what looked to be RCR’s best campaign in years. But the excitement has petered off hard lately and not only are they not in any Championship 4, but the team now has an ugly black cloud over them after the Martinsville fiasco, sort of like JGR at the end of last year. Just find that contrast really interesting, especially with the aspect of Kyle Busch switching teams (even if RCR’s issues aren’t his fault unless I’m missing something).
This is such a good championship 4. I’d love for any of these guys to get the title, however since I’m lifelong Gordon fan, go Byron!!!
Understandable. I have nothing any of the four.
This would have to be the first year where I look at the final 4 and say “I wouldn’t mind any of them winning”
Kyle is my pick, simply because I support him, and he is the only one present that has clinched it at Phoenix, but all 4 have won or run really well there, so it will be an interesting battle!
I’m picking Byron but I honestly see Bell doing it as well.
When looking at stats at comparable tracks it’s also important to include Richmond. Despite being a smaller circuit, teams normally bring their Richmond cars to Phoenix(if it was a good piece) and drivers who do well at one normally do well at the other. Kevin Harvick, for example.
I honestly wish Blaney wins this year’s championship. He maintains his consistency and adds on top of that with the 3 wins this year.
