The bottom line is that what Richard Childress, Andy Petree and Austin Hill said was beyond unacceptable and is extremely concerning because is this just a small example of what is going on at RCR right now???
We got a look behind the curtain at RCR and it was ugly. I’ve been impressed with Sheldon Creed but now I’m a real fan.
Austin Dillon can’t win a race without wrecking someone
If this was allowed to be seen in public, I don’t want to know how worse it is behind the scenes
Oh well,
The league will not grow with a bunch of Jimmy Johnson’s. The league will grow with Kyle Busch, Noah Gregson, anyone else with attitudes. Politically correct, and polished is not going to sell tickets in the seat. High drama and hard racing is what sells tickets.
The 10 is either going to be Gragson or Custer
Custer still needs another year or two in xfinity. Gragson could try cup again if they decide it.
The other option is to elevate Custer and put Gragson in the 00 or 98 to develop him more since he was abysmal in the 42 though not entirely his fault.
Haven’t seen or heard from Noah Gragson in a little while now.
I think it all depends on how Custer performs at Phoenix. If he’s the champion — the 10 is his.
@Big Handhe’s still racing, just not cup series
@Channel 69 GWN It’s one thing to not be in the Cup Series. But I wasn’t sure if he was gonna still be racing period.
Kevin Harvick going to SHR after 2013 was something i don’t blame for
RCR comes across as such a terrible organization, Sheldon Creed is going to get a standing ovation at driver intros this week.
If Hill would of just settled for 2nd, both cars would of made the final 4.
Hill was still in the mindset that he needed to win because his team didn’t tell him the points situation, so that’s on RCR
I SUPPOSE to be fair to Hill, apparently no one on his team was telling him where Custer was on that last restart. Chances are, if he was told that “Hey, don’t push it too hard. Cole’s pretty far back,” the finish wouldn’t be as bad.
Not that DBC is law. But they said he was still a point short if he tucked in to second. Is that true?
The funniest part of the whole RCR mess is Austin Hill thinking that Jesse Love, the guy who won half the races in Arca and is literally still a teenager, is going to be a better teammate and will race him better than Creed.
I would love to see a part time deal with Ryan Sieg’s Xfinity team
He won with them at Sonoma, and I think he would help to elevate that team in more ways than one
They can never be forgiven for what they said
No matter who goes in the 10 car, I wouldn’t expect an announcement until after Phoenix as to not take the spotlight from Kevin’s retirement. If it is Gragson, I’d love to hear Josh Berry’s true feelings about it. Another great show Eric.
It will be Noah
I’d love to see Sheldon come back next year and beat Austin Hill for the championship. That would be poetic justice.
According to the guys on DBC, Hills SMT data show a lot more throttle off 4 the last lap than any of the previous laps. Clearly trying to get to Creed bumper. Add that to Creed slowing to gather up his car and you get a crash that took out Hill. The fact that they are still trying to put it all on Creed shows his decision to leave was a good one. The actions and responses after the race have caused me to lose a lot of respect for both Hill and Petree. I can’t say the same for Childress himself as I had little to no respect for him before this. It just confirmed I was right about him to begin with.
I think putting Noah Gragson as a teammate to Josh Berry is smart, because they’ve already worked together. They have experience being teammates, and they are used to being around each other, and that could be very beneficial for Gragson- and possibly Berry too.
I could see Custer coming back, especially after making the final 4 in Xfinity. Whatever they were thinking when they sent him back down there, it’s safe to say he proved he’s got talent. If it came down to him or Gragson, I’d pick Custer.
That said, Gragson does have one really strong point in his favor: Josh Berry. They worked together at JRM. They know how to be teammates. I’m sure they’re probably not bosom buddies, unless I badly misread Berry’s level of old man energy, but putting them together in the same organization strikes me as a smart move for SHR.
With Almirola retiring, and Smithfield leaving, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of two things happens to the 10 car.
1.) Cole Custer returns to Cup
2.) Tony and Gene go back on their word of staying strong with 4 full-time teams, and start to consider shrinking their Cup teams down to 3, instead of 4.
Custer returning seems like the most likely possibility to me. However, since the 10 car has always been one of the most underperforming teams within the organization, despite their 2 wins and an occasional top 10 within the last half a decade. Based on that logic, and the fact that they’re losing a MAJOR primary sponsor in Smithfield Foods, I’m kind of hoping that they at least scale the 10 car back to a part-time ride for developmental drivers, so they don’t waste too much time, money, and resources.
I think Tony Stewart is looking at Noah Gragson much like he looked at Kyle Larson, except this time there’s nothing that is going to prevent him from making the move.
Eric sitting in the grandstands at martinsville had me thinking. Does Kyle Busch driving in the back mid pack most weeks more often than not when he was jgr does this effect his race craft?
Creed has clearly felt like Richard and team has treated Austin hill like an adopted son and that they loved him and treated him better for a long time now and that response proves it to me.
Almirola could try to do some xfinity deals and run a little bit of project 91. I know it’s more of a international car but it could be used for situations like Almirolas, or even Development drivers in lower series
