If Matt does get a ride I would think it would either be Kaulig or Gibbs if in Xfinity but in trucks I’m not sure where he will go

Reply
John Haas November 22, 2023 at 7:15 pm

He isn’t getting anything like that

I wonder if the NASCAR Busch Series name will return. Most likely not, but it would be cool if it did.

Some people would get nostalgia from that

Reply
John Haas November 22, 2023 at 7:15 pm

I not sure it’s a good fit since do many drivers are under 21

@johnhaas2523  That is a fair point

@John Haas That’s why I don’t think the name will return. It would still be kinda cool if the name came back though.

My prediction for Matt is that he’ll sign with BJ McLeod motorsports. Rising xfinity team with a driver opening, and showing consistent speed and improvement every week. Not to mention that with McLeod’s sale of live fast, it’s a given that those assets will be invested to xfinity, and I believe that Matt and BJ would complement each other nicely.

BJ I think is going to drive his Xfinity series car

Imagine, if Amazon got the rights to stream some races, what a marketing move it would be if they streamed one or two on Twitch. Mainly joking cause this is a massive reach of an idea. But attracting the younger audience by having NASCAR on the front of page of one of the most popular interactive live streaming platforms, wouldn’t hurt to try. I don’t think it’ll ever happen, but wouldn’t be against it if it did.

I agree with one streaming service, but there are growing pains that come with it. Thousands of reports of people viewing football on prime were having horrible experiences, myself included. It has gotten better, but recording is like the stone ages.

Im hoping that Busch becomes the title sponsor of the xfinity series at the end of next year, we already have the Craftsman Truck Series back, it would be awesome for Busch to come back

Since so many under 21 drivers I don’t think will happen

Reply
Evan Moore November 22, 2023 at 11:47 pm

@Kevin WiechmannNot gonna happen. It’s illegal to advertise tobacco.

I’ll counter your hope that if Busch beer returns they don’t make a cheesy line. I personally think it would be fantastic if drivers get out of the care centre and say “he was driving like he had too many Busch beers before the race”

I like Matt but it’s been so tumultuous that I really don’t care what happens to him. He was in the big leagues for a while and did okay and screwed himself over. But I don’t feel bad for him and he shouldn’t feel bad for himself.

Would love to see the average finish differential in the 2 years with Matty D at Wood Bros, compared to Burton’s 2 years.

Doesn’t matter. Without that DEX money, there is no Wood Brothers Racing.

If they go to this streaming model in the middle of season, it will be interesting to see cable/broadcast viewership numbers before and after. There is the potential to get younger viewers to slide over to catch the playoff mess on regular TV or (and I think this is what will happen) you will have a bigger drop off in viewership as the people that did not subscribe to the streaming service will be out of the loop on what had been happing those weeks off air and not be interested at all in watching the playoffs.

Still my favorite piece of all the TV deal talk. Xfinity on CW network is amazing. Download app, stream without even logging in, watch on TV through antenna for all races. Truly fantastic. I hope whatever happens in cup is as simple as.possible and mainly hoping that I can watch all events through streaming means. I’ll pay for peacock, I’ll pay for a NASCAR package, I don’t want to pay for cable.

Matty D is a really good driver and personality who deserves a ride somewhere maybe even in cup. There are many drivers currently in cup that he would be an upgrade to a team that has been underperforming. But some sponsors seem to be ok with drivers getting in multiple crashes and having multiple DNF’s , yet they stick with them anyway. So it’s not likely he’ll get a ride in cup.

NASCAR on Amazon Prime could be huge for the international reputation of the sport too. I live in the UK and it’s currently very difficult to watch, but lots of us have prime as well and I’m sure a lot of people would be interested if they saw a NASCAR race pop up on there
