It’s a shame people like this give contractors a bad name! I know so many people who have been scammed! You gotta be careful who you give money too!
Usually has to be a signed contract so any other deqlinga not dealt with can show up for small claims court.

Sorry you’re going through this James. I had learned this lesson too. Now I am more strict and hard when doing business. I’d rather apologize after the work is done, than be “nice” and lose out on your money later.

Dude, please name and shame this man. You say this isn’t a lot of money to you, but this is a very large amount to many and most people. I’m sure that you won’t be the only one, you will be doing nothing wrong by telling their name, if they don’t want to be shamed then they shouldn’t be shameful.

Hey man. We’ve all been there. EVERY SINGLE TIME I’ve paid money before the service was done. I’ve always got robbed. Paid a contractor to build me a haltree and never got it made. Prepaid for 5 sessions for tattoo removal, got two done with A TON of appointment problems(they already had their money) 2 months later they “close business”. And I have a ton more. These were the last two. NEVER EVER PAY a deposit without putting it in a credit card. Even if you have to lose the cc processing fee, at least it’s insurance if they never follow through. Lesson learned. I’ll never pay a deposit unless with credit card ever again
Super sorry to hear about the fence. Some contractors suck. I understand not wanting to mess with someone’s livelihood, but if their livelihood is ripping off customers and taking their money then I would argue that it’s hurting those in your community to not notify as many as possible of a fence contractor by the name of David that steals money. At the very least you should report him to Utah DOPL so they can investigate and revoke his license (if you haven’t done so already). I own and run a demolition company in Utah my self and it always hurts to hear people getting ripped off.
We hear of this all too often. Sick and sad and I hope you take him to court anything else you can do to get some justice.
You should definitely give out his name and company name. That way this doesn’t happen to anyone else. To you it’s not a lot of money but to the average person it’s a huge deal. Never protect scammers and con artists .

100% agree. If you wont share information of the company the next person who can’t afford to lose 30K even 10K for a fence install might have a harder time to recoup losses. These companies need to be outed so the public knows to avoid them.
As a fence contractor, it hurts to see this kind of stuff. It’s so easy to be communicative and honest. Wish I lived in Utah and could of helped!

That’s ridiculous! James – you were ripped off. You shouldn’t have to pay this much money for a fence and gate. I’m in Utah and definitely wouldn’t want to do business with this contractor, let alone, know people who are considering doing business with him. I hope that what’s left of the work is completed without further hustle.
The real reason why a lot of us love your channel is because of the transparency with everything. Sucks that the gate guy screwed you over. You definitely didn’t deserve that, no one does. People are shady. Keep up the quality videos!
