I love how almost everyone (including me) got blocked on Twitter by CumberlandYard because everyone hates their idea
It sounds like they don’t want to hear any opinions from the NASCAR fans at all
When the account behind this proposal is blocking anyone that is criticizing the idea, you know this can’t be a legitimate proposal.
That probably shows it is legitimate actually.
What will bring in more money to the area? NASCAR or cars with a “quarter mile” extension cord.
I replied with a “How about no” gif and they blocked me.
Easiest club I’ve ever entered.
And then turning off the replies to the proposal post too
#SaveTheNashvilleFairgroundsSpeedway… no electric drag race strip, we want NASCAR racing on the track!!!
1.) If Nashville actually goes through with tearing down this track, and replacing it with a venue that causes even more noise than a race would, Nashville Tennessee will officially be a city I will NEVER visit again. (I also reported that stupid account, and blocked them. Probably won’t do any good, but at least I don’t have to deal with them).
2.) Kotescki will be an interesting gamble for RCR to take. Hopefully, this will be a good fit for a long term program for Kotescki in nascar. Recent situations with RCR though might indicate a slow start.
Can’t tear it down as voters made sure of that several years ago
Cumberland Yard has since deleted their tweet of the proposal, and added to their profile “Abuse, profanity, and threats of violence by NASCAR fans will be reported.”, with the audacity of saying “Preserving Nashville Fairgrounds Legacy of… … auto racing” just one line before, and even having a VIDEO SHOWING NASCAR RACING AT THE TRACK. They have also limited the people who can reply to their tweets to only those who mention, meaning all 4 of their standing posts have 0 comments.
I am so damn sick of small tracks getting bullied around by these real estate people, who want to tear down decades of history just to build a few houses, and the most painful part is that there are some people that actually support this kind of stuff, like those types who KNOWINGLY buy a house next to a racetrack, and then complain that it’s too loud.
Well thank god that the real estate market is heading for a huge crash.
@Pamela Kelly we’ll see about that
As a nashvillian, you can thank the tree huggin hippies that have taken over that area. There’s a reason you see “Don’t California my Tennessee” stickers around here
As an artist, and a NASCAR Fan, I’m offended at the attempt to remove the Nashville Fairgrounds.
And the city is Nashville there’s literally a ton of places to do art and do music
Thank you Eric for keeping us informed on all this NASCAR news. I know this is what the channel is made for, but I’ll be honest when I say I don’t always keep up with NASCAR news during the off season. But your videos are all I need to help stay updated. Thank you
I think NASCAR is going to bring in the other 4 spots as charters so these teams can grow and get back to a 43 car field by leaving those 3 spots for teams that are picking and choosing when they race
one can only hope
As a lifelong RCR fan in my 40s. I gotta say it’s WAY past time for a changing of the guard. However, Brodie ain’t it. Essentially you’ll have great sponsorship for a driver who’ll barely finish in top 20. Somewhat similar to Dillon currently. Love & Hill have great potential, especially Hill in what he’s shown in just two seasons. If Love lives up to the hype. The future will be just fine & bright at RCR. Brodie however, will mess that all up if given a cup ride.
From what I understand, there have been loud voices around the Fairgrounds who have tried very hard to keep NASCAR out. It wouldn’t shock me if they’re on the wealthier side and are worried what the track would do to property values, and came up with this Cumberland Yard project as a way to counter it. My guess is that assumed they’d have widespread support from the community and got completely caught off guard by the backlash.
Yeah there are a few loud voices against NASCAR at the Fairgrounds while most of the community and Nashville as a whole feels ambivalent or positive towards NASCAR
So there is no other property for Cumberland Yards. Seems like it’s ok to gobble up farmland for solar dreams.
I always find it interesting when neighbors complain about noise and traffic from airports, race tracks, and other venues when they knew it was there when they moved in.
All of Dillons wrecks have had to have an impact on his performance. The dude is small but tough as nails. B level team, 4 wins, a few missed shots but he has a solid career for all of the bad luck he seems to receive on the track. Good dude all around. Decent racer. Has his tracks. Way better than TY lol
Austin Dillon should be a full time xfinity driver. I think the lower divisions need good, full-time talent as a gauge for young and up coming drivers. We need more Matt Crafton type drivers.
Richard Childress is heavily invested in Brodie Kostecki; he’s actually IN Adelaide for the Supercars finale to potentially see Kostecki clinch his first title. He actually just got done an interview with FOX Sports down there, mentioned he’s eyeing around three races for Kostecki: circuits like Sonoma, The Glen and yeah he definitely wants to get him on an oval.
Side note, if y’all thought NASCAR silly season was silly, Shane van Gisbergen leaving Supercars put their silly season into an absolute tail spin. There are around 24 full-time rides in that series, and I think at least TEN of them will have new drivers next year. It’s bonkers LOL.
I think your thoughts on Austin are spot on. I think bringing Busch in who ran his own race team is not only to provide on-track assistance but also the business side of running a race team as well. I could see him moving on in 3 years, definitely by the time he turns 40.
I agree that Dillon should take on a management position at RCR fairly soon so others can move forward.
The issue is the residents bought their homes near a loud racetrack. The price of the homes are lower because of the noise and location. I’m sorry if a Real Estate agent sold them on the notion that the track will close, but thats akin to me moving next to an airport or traintrack and demand the city remove that. Sorry, you bought a home near a noisy facility, lie in the bed.
EDIT: Yeah it’s been reported elsewhere that the actual Board involved in the track called the proposal illegitimate and wasn’t submitted to them. So it’s more than likely just a ploy to drag people away from the renovation that’s being moved forward politically.
I think hed do great in a managemnent role. He was huge in bringing Busch. Imagine the sponsors he could bring in? Or even more talent.
It was really cool being at Indy this year and getting to see all those different new drivers like Brody and Shane plus the 23XI guy.
After you mentioned the 4 wins in 10 years for Austin Dillon, I had a glance at his Wikipedia page. I didn’t know he had this “Team Dillon Management” thing with his brother Ty. I think he’ll be much more instrumental and impactful in a management role than behind the wheel (i.e. helping land the likes of KB). I agree he’s not a terrible driver, but with Hill and now Love and maybe Kostecki waiting in the wings to take over in due time, I think it might be better if he moves out of the seat sooner than later.
