NASCAR really needs to have a rule stating that you can’t just put random black spots on certain parts of the car

Reply
@shmeeve December 19, 2023 at 8:11 pm

I feel like they can’t do that. Then cars sponsored by monster would have a massive advantage

@johnhaas2523 December 19, 2023 at 8:16 pm

@@shmeeveThe advantage to putting the black spots in places that they do is all for the Hawkeye system to mess with it

How about a rule where the numbers aren’t up the wheel’s backside. They could try putting them in the center on the door. That’d look mighty fine I suspect, and then they can leave them there permanently where they belong.

Seeing Waters in nascar will be interesting. All I can say right now is, I hope at least we’ll be able to tell him apart from the other Monster guys on the track. They all use similar paint schemes for some dumb reason after all.

Reply
@harleyfields1664 December 19, 2023 at 8:03 pm

i think the reason the monster guys use very similar schemes is mostly for brand consistency or something, plus its a very simple design they use eerytime and it works so if it aint “broke” dont fix it

VERY often, for this household, the Xfinity races are more entertaining than the cup races. Often the cup hype is way more than the entertainment value of the race itself. Look forward to the Supercar guys driving in NASCAR.

It’s nice to see other drivers branching out and trying new motorsports series in their careers. It’s awesome to see drivers come into NASCAR and experience something different from what they’re used to

@spd-kv6sd December 20, 2023 at 12:09 pm

I think they’ll need to look at the Touring Car championships as well. The cars are nothing like they are in NASCAR, but maybe if they find good drivers from there – good European drivers as a matter of fact – that could easily be a good campaign for both racing leagues. I believe the popularity of the V8 Supercars will soon soar as well, so the European series should get a good thought on this. Unless they really only want to support F1.

If Nascar thought it was to skirt the OSS they would not approve the schemes to be run. So if they approve it oh well…

HMS was in 2018 where SHR is now. They turned over their entire squad to young guys and it took a couple years to get them up to speed. Maybe this is a long-term investment lineup

Lets just call the paint schemes that interfere with the OSS “Razzle Dazzle” paint schemes. Reference: WWI ships were painted in jarring angles to optically confuse lookouts. This was called “Razzle Dazzle”.

The irony in Hendrick – the team with the most penalties for cheating last year – still blatantly attempting to cheat is hopefully not lost on everyone.

I think Josh Berry is set up to be the SHR leader. Just look at who he has surrounding him as crew chief and new spotter. Josh also knows a lot about car set-up etc. Josh’s 2023 Xfinity season is an anomaly. Don’t forget that he performed very well as Chase Elliot’s sub. And, if he had a deal with SHR as early as it sounds like, I doubt he got a lot of support from Chevy.

@EMPSBladeKnight60 December 19, 2023 at 9:58 pm

I think Josh’s problem with the winless last Xfinity season was his almost full time split between cup and X. I think with Josh focusing on cup alone we may see him in victory lane first among the SHR cars

I’m hoping that SHR is going to have the same turn around like Hendrick Motorsports did in the mid 10’s.

I don’t necessarily think Josh Berry is going to lead the pack on track, but I think he has the potential to mentor the younger drivers, especially Gragson. Everything I’ve heard about him suggests he’s the dependable, levelheaded sort, and I think that’s what they need right now more than even wins. They need someone who can put their head down and push through the next season or two, because it’s probably going to be rough going for a little while. If the drivers and the teams can hold out until SHR fixes its organizational issues, they’ll be in a good position later on down the road.
